Dr. Jens uses rod-shaped nano hydroxy apatite particles. This information is in their video for clinitians.

Hey just a note if you aren't already or in the future, some toothpastes explicitly suggest to spit and not rinse for 30 minutes, contact time. Which is a good practice to maximize toothpaste especially when they cost triple or more than regular toothpaste. But since you're testing products, consistency is important, so either they all get 30 minutes or none do. Also I think maybe 5 minutes is a good number between 30 min and 2 min, without diminishing returns that people can do for some minor improvement.

Hi Kristina! 🪥 Love the information on Hydroxyapatite. Will watch other videos How does Boka (current toothpaste) compare to Dr Jen's? Would love to try Dr. Jen's - dental health is so important and I want to use the best one!!!!
@askahygienist11 ай бұрын
Boka was my first hydroxyapatite toothpaste that I tried; it seems the concentration of hydroxyapatite is pretty low in Boka so I didn’t see drasti results. Definitely feeling more effectiveness with Dr. Jen’s, especially with sensitivity improvement.

Great video! What mouth was would you recommend to pair with Dr. Jen’s toothpaste?
@askahygienist10 ай бұрын
I actually don’t use mouthwash personally so I don’t really have a recommendation for that. Definitely stay away from any mouthwash containing alcohol. Dried the mouth out. Generally there’s a correlation between mouthwash use and high blood pressure because it wipes out all the bacteria in the mouth, even the good which regulates blood pressure…

I have done some research on Dr Jen toothpaste and BOKA n-ha. Dr Jen has 10% and BOKA 2% of n-ha so you used both what can you say about them when it comes to anti-cavity or reversal since both don’t contain fluoride? And you mentioned an important information about the shape of the n-ha were you able to find the shape of the n-ha for both of these toothpaste?

@@askahygienist I also wondered if you have ever heard or tried CariFree, I use this brand and I really love it, developed by a dentist from what I’ve read they use a 15% nano hydroxyapatite in their gel tooth formulas they also have a gel formula that’s fluoride free for people that don’t want to use fluoride, I choose to use their gel that has both fluoride and nano hydroxyapatite I’ve been using it for over a year I always use the grape flavor and love it, it is very pleasant and I have noticed my teeth don’t like when I don’t use it I can tell it helps with sensitivity a lot and I can barely feel my cavities, of course I do also use Rx Colgate prevident that my dentist prescribed me but I started that about 6 months ago regardless after I started CariFree I did notice my teeth felt alot smoother shinier and just generally felt so much better I feel their superior to many other brands that use hydroxyapatite! You should give them a try, they have a fluoride free gel as well! Thanks for your awesome videos love them!

How do you feel about closys (sp?) Mouthwash
@askahygienist11 ай бұрын
I’ve never heard of it…generally I don’t use mouthwash though, never really used it regularly. And recently I found out that it’s associated with high blood pressure because it kills a bacteria in our mouth that helps reduce nitrates, which contribute to high blood pressure.
I’m slowing down a bit on product reviews, so I can’t promise a review soon, but just looking at ingredients: I wish xylitol was the main/only sweetener. I don’t know why sorbitol is before xylitol on the list (meaning there’s more of it)..more cost-effective? Xylitol is the sugar that helps decrease cavity-causing bacteria. Also not sure about the purpose of micro and nano hydroxyapatite combo. Also maybe more cost-effective? Nano particle size is better absorbed by our enamel. Overall it seems better than a lot of traditional toothpastes but probably not the absolute best. That’s my take from reading ingredients. Also not sure what percentage of hydroxyapatite is in their toothpaste, that’s also a factor. I will reach out to them and see if I can find out. Hope this helps as a starting point!
@La.femme.noire._2 ай бұрын
@@askahygienist amazinggg!! My thoughts exactly and great point about the sorbitol, I found it hard to find the percentages but found a video where they explain it is 10% micro & 5% nano which I guess is better than boka but still not going to be as effective as say dr jens. I’m from the UK desperately trying to get my hands on some dr jens but we will see how it goes. Thank you 🙏🏾

Hi there, I am slowing down a bit on product reviews, so I'm not sure when I'll get to that. But I have checked out their pro line; looks like they use 10% micro HAP and 5% nano HAP in their formula. I find this to be an unnecessary combo as micro is not nearly as effective as nano, if at all. I would say bottom line I still prefer Dr. Jen's.

What’s your thought on MOON anticavity toothpaste (ADA)?
@askahygienist11 ай бұрын
I haven’t heard or tried it but just looked at their website; first impressions - not impressed. Glittery toothpaste, no thanks; also anytime I see those LED at home whitening kits, it’s a big turn off for me because I’ve tried several and had friends try, they don’t work.
@pewpew973611 ай бұрын
@@askahygienist okay thank you. I saw that it was ADA approved but I was curious to see if it’s worth the hype.
@askahygienist11 ай бұрын
@@pewpew9736 Yeah, I made a video on ADA approved products actually; it's not as important as you might think. Yes, it does help ensure a standard, but that standard is pretty basic and doesn't actually guarantee a product is great.

Why do the manufacturers of such hydroxyapatite toothpaste, charge and INORDINATELY HIGH PRICE, so that most folks cannot afford it?!
@askahygienist2 ай бұрын
I’ve never manufactured a toothpaste so I don’t know the overhead cost, but my understanding is hydroxyapatite is a more expensive ingredient, especially at the ideal concentration/particle size (many hydroxyapatite brands use a lower/diluted concentration or larger particles which are cheaper and less effective). It’s definitely more expensive than traditional fluoride toothpaste but I believe you end up paying the cost either way, whether it be for a more expensive preventive oral care product or for dental treatment later on…
