My husband and I drove from Vancouver, Canadá to Cabo last March. It took us six days driving about ten hours a day. We didn’t have any issues and felt completely safe. The only thing to watch out for are narrow, winding roads through the mountains and some giant potholes. The scenery is quite lovely, but we were shocked at the amount of garbage on the highway, especially near towns and villages.

Thank you for sharing. Very safe but you are right lots of garbage on the roads and no shoulders. We appreciate you watching :)

Great Video - I was going to ship my vehicle ($2250) down but after watching. Im thinking of hitting the road this weekend. No problem for a non spanish speaking tourist in a Raptor ? Did you go solo or caravan with others ? Which border Crossing did use Calexico East or West ? Any other last minute tips let me know.

I passed through the West since it was close to the hotel, I don't think it matters much. First time I came down I drove with my Father-in-law, second time he drove down behind me. No issues if you don't speak Spanish, just say "Moving to Cabo" and they'll pass you through. There are 3-4 Policia stops now in addition to the 4 Military stops, but still no issues getting through them. They're looking for weapons and explosives, so nothing to be worried about. Beautiful drive, you will be surprised how the desert changes as you drive South! Muluege, Loreto, and that area along the coast is right out of a magazine! Safe travels and feel free to call me via WhatsApp on your way +1 (916) 743-5511. PS: Slow down after Constituciones after you come through the long straightaway through the desert after Loretto and passing the gate to Danzante Bay Resort. The Policia between there and La Paz are actively looking for speeding Gringos to "Fine".

Great video. Thanks for documenting your trip. I'm going to be driving down from Sacramento to Cabo, any issues finding gas along the way? Any long stretches of highway without gas stations?
@buyingcaboАй бұрын
Hello thank you for watching! I always gassed up in Calexico before I crossed the border. Once you cross, your next gas up would be Guerrero Negro or Santa Rosalia. I gassed up the Jeep in Guerrero Negro, but the Tundra made it all the way to Santa Rosalia. There are no gas stations along the way, but you will see guys with 5 gallon gas cans on the side of the road selling gas in small towns. From Santa Rosalia there is gas in Mulege, then Loreto, Constitucion, and La Paz. So once you're gassed up halfway down, you're safe! Safe travels!!

Thank you for a terrific and very helpful video. Is the road 100% paved the entire way down? Do you have thoughts on what do to if you have a road emergency? Safety (physical) concerns? And did you venture off the main road to check out any of the coastal scenery and beaches along the way? Thx
@buyingcabo3 ай бұрын
Hello sorry for the late response. The road is paved all the way, there is no shoulder so just be aware at all times. Never really thought about emergencies but if you do break down a lot of the truck drivers will radio in help, the Green Angels are mobile mechanics that go up and down Mexican roads and help those in need. Also always keep water in your car just in case 😊 also I was in such a hurry to get here to Cabo that I didn’t get to enjoy the sites. But I hear it’s beautiful and worth seeing. Thank you for watching and commenting.

WE just parked close to the front door and under a lot of lighting. Only place we felt unsafe was in Calexico, other than that didnt really fell unsafe.
@LeeYvesMexico Жыл бұрын
Yes, it's dangerous. The bigger the vehicles are definitely more stressful. It's not traffic or cartel worries. Folks, it's switchbacks, narrow lanes, and ZERO shoulders. No mercy ! We did this road twice in 2023, 30ft motor home, and then again in our Honda accord. This road takes 2 people to drive, one watching 👀 the shoulders and the driver, and both 🙏 that truck flipped when the wheels hit the deep shoulder and he couldn't pull it up ! 😢 Drive it safe and slow! But... don't pay any bribes, take the ticket go pay it when you're in town at the police station & never ever hand over your DL or passport.

You are so right, its a scary road to drive, my husband drove it with my dad once and alone the second time. You just have to be aware at all times. Thank you for the great advice on thee ticket bribes that happen. Thank you for watching :)

That poor guy in the overturned truck probably fell asleep behind the wheel. Staying focused for hours when there's not much to see can be tougher than a $2 steak 😟

What about car insurance when driving into Baja. I heard you need to buy insurance there because American or Canadian insurance wouldn't cover or won't be accepted. I'd appreciate your comments on this issue. Thank you!!!
@buyingcabo Жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct. You need Mexican insurance when you cross. We use this company for our rental units and car insurance. They have been great! West Coast Global Insurance here is the link: g.co/kgs/YAvVLr
