I feel like Drogon, if he lives, will be the largest dragon ever. Drogon is already quite a bit larger than most dragons have been, and he is only a few years old.

In fact, it has not been proven that Drogon has a better genetics than his brother's. Since Rhaegal and Viseris have been chained in Mereen for almost 2 years, in an initial period of development. We know what happens to chained dragons ... they just do not grow. Either way, dragons are dying easy in Season 8.

Idk, the dragons of the Valyrian Freehold must have been the biggest. Dany didn't even know how to awaken her dragon eggs, but these old Valyrian sorcerers probably used some big sophisticated rituals to ensure their dragons become big and strong. The bigger your dragon, the more say you have, etc. And the Targaryen family was one of the weakest/less important. They probably didn't own the biggest dragons, not even with Balerion, or their importance would have been greater. I mean, they didn't even have Valyrian steel armor! heh. Anyways, and the old Valyrians most likely knew how to rear big and strong dragons by giving them special food, training, etc. Dragons were their main weapon, so I'm quite sure they knew how to make them big, bad, and deadly.

Additionally unlike Aegon, Dany would have the support of Dorne’s army, as well as a number of smaller opportunistic lords who see a chance to gain power. Plus there’s plenty of marriage options for Dany out there to get even more support. And all of that aside, dragons are essentially nuclear weapons that can decimate an entire holdfast so she’d surely get supporters out of awe or fear

Armours made from Valerian Steel. because During the episode "Hard home", when Jon was recruiting the wildlings, we see that normal steel swords will not work to that White walker's spear. It will just turn into shattered ice. But when Jon uses Long Claw, it is able to touch it. So here is the deal. If any of those two dragons would wear armours made from Valerian steel, The Night's King spear will just bounce off. Not only that Valerian steel is a tough material. I am sure that the Long Crossbow of Cersei will also bounce off.

you don't realize how much this comment means to me. this video was really difficult to put together. i literally started from scratch about 6 times iirc bc the scaling in the episode didnt seem consistent to me. sometimes he appeared to have a 130 foot wingspan, and others closer to 200 feet the final product took around 12 hours. but i technically spent 42 hours from start to finish. i wish i had made up my mind sooner lol i hope i didnt butcher it. i tried really hard to do this video justice :-/

Consider this as well: We only have Balerion's skull to work with. As a creature gets older, the head gets smaller in comparison with the body. This is true for almost all vertebrates. So even if the skull was only 20% larger, the body could be as much as 25-30% larger.

That would be physically impossible. Dragons never stop growing, even the ones contained in the Dragonpit who were much smaller due to their being chained up and confined in a small space. Balerion the Black Dread was hundreds of years old. Drogon is about 3-4 if you use show time, about 2 in book time. It would be impossible for him to be as big given that dragons cannot stop growing.

I think that drogon will outgrow him easily. If I counted correctly and drogon will grow as he did, he will have the size of balerion with around 30. he was like 6/7 in the show and was already huge. If he continue to grow like that, and considering he’s gonna die in the same age like Balerion Did he will probably be 6x the size of Balerion .. And don’t forgot that he is now free. Dragons who are living free where always bigger than tamed or chained up dragons. Look at viserion and rhaegal

im more used to the imperial system. but on my "tallest characters" video, i got a lot of flack for not using the metric system, which most of the world uses. and on the first dragon size video from earlier this summer, people suggested that i use a soccer field instead of an american football field so this one was for non-americans. an Emilia Clark is part of the matric system, right? drogon, rheagal and viserion are likely from a much older line of dragons then balerion, and possibly the offspring off wild dragons, which grew much bigger then the ones captured and tamed by the valyrian freehold, which grew smaller overtime, until the last dragons were no bigger then a small dog, these fozzilized eggs could have been a thousand years old or more, this could be a why dany's dragons grow this fast

I noticed tht as well sonce I watched the scene frame by frame. The first time I thought it was a complete split. But I went back and some of the branches do get pushed down towards the edge of the tree. But his wing extends past where the trunk of the tree is. so his wing definitely just glides right through the thick of the tree lol Thats still my favorite shot tho bc of the water :)

It looks like two separate trees, with his wing passing over the 2nd (closer) tree, pushing the branches down. It's easier to notice when they first show on screen, since the difference in distance makes them move at different speeds from the focus of the camera.

Yeah, that bolt to Balerion's skull was like the desecration of a holy relic in my mind. Made me hate Cersei even more, not knowing that was possible. Good breakdown bridge, I think most people know Drogon isn't close yet, but its nice to stop the spread of misinformation. I don't think Drogon will reach Balerion size, as I think all her dragons are gonna die, its just a matter of time.

1:40 - 1:50 This method of measuring Drogon's increase in size won't work, as the dragons get bigger, their wingspan will get bigger in proportion to the rest of the body. I'm not sure that the GOT creators take this into account, but by looking at Drogon at birth and now, six years later, I think they do. Which means that you can't take one measurement of say, neck length, and then increase wingspan linearly relative to the increase in neck length. This is due to the Square-Cube law. As he grows his mas will proportionally increase to his surface area, meaning he will need proportionally bigger wings to make up for it. The wings will be bigger, perhaps his length will have to be longer too, or more specifically his tail. I think this proportional increase in tail length will be needed to ensure stability as his mas proportionally increases relative to tail length.

Drogon is a few years old dragon, bigger than Rhaegal and Viserion, due to his freedom, while those two were captured. Balerion on the other hand was almost 200 years old when he died. It is quite impossible for a dragon young as Drogon to achieve such a size yet. Comparing them is at least ridiculous. I know this is a show/fantasy tale, but there is a pattern how they grow (mentioned in the books and even in the show few times).

And cannibal (a free living dragon on dragonstone on the time where Balerion lived) is named to be nearly as big as him but was quite younger. So if drogon is going to grow like he did, he will outgrow Balerion without any problem. If he continues to grow like he did he will be probably 6x as big as Balerion was with 200 years. Drogon is 6/7 in the show and already 22% of Balerions size. So most likely with 30 he will have the size of Balerion.

From pre-doom. Those dragons were hatched by valerian magic whoch makes them huge. Drogon does not have valerian magic. Just blood magic. He will grow bog. But not as bog as balerion

Very compelling and well done. It would be great if you did one on the relative size of the dragons in the books compared to the show. The dragons are far too large in the show for their age. They`re only 3 or 4 years old. By comparison, Sunfyre, during the Dance of the Dragons, was about 25 years old, and took 6 bites to devour Rhaenyra Targaryen. That would be a good baseline to start with.
