I dont have any builds with 90+ dunk but i definitely agree with the sentiment that it’s less on the lanes I’m taking and more so it feels more so like I gotta just have a head of steam before I get to dunking fr

I'm 100% convinced that the zone for where you can activate dunks has been SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. What I've noticed is that my player doesn't even THINK about going up until his feet pass the line for the restricted area. 2K Tutes showed that they nerfed dunking like 90% or something crazy like that off of the exact same scenario from last year. I've been adding to my slasher bag the past few years and had committed to mastering the dunk meter this year, I spent Season 1 and Season 2 trying to figure it out without success. In Season 3 I switched back to dunking with the button and using RPP for my layups since all my attempts were getting turned into lays anyway. This has been the most successful configuration for my slasher this year. No two foot dunks, nothing flashy, just quick drops off one and DBook. That's IT. Dunking dead this year bro.

I got a 6’4 w/ 93 driving dunk, went 80 vert and 90 strength and just started getting dunks to pop off more often. You gotta really rely on your momentum to the basket. I’m also 235lbs on weight. But the straight up just run and dunk method, don’t work as well like previous 2ks and like shooting, you most likely won’t get it to pop off consecutively back to back to back. IMO takeovers like blur are a little better than the actual posterizer take. With blur then you can just run, no moves, blow by to contact dunk every time.

You need to pair the dunking with high speed with ball (86 or higher) and at least a 85 ball handle. For slashing BIGs you want at least a 60 SWB and 71 BH. If you know how to speed boost then you will get more contact dunks at the rim. Speed boost animations I like is pro behind the back and cross overs to get to the rack. Cross over option are D Fox, Austin Reeves, or Giannis. Dribble styles options are Zion, Dejounte Murry, or Darius Garland. It helps if you can hit threes consistent to loosen up the paint. But it ain't like last year.

Dunks have definitely changed, and the animation output is off..between you and the player defeending you It’s like the contact dunk doesn’t trigger enough and you get a layup animation instead of contact dunk. You really gotta finesse your player in order to receive a proper contact dunk animation, and as far as dunk meter that’s just straight up trash there are people who have no problems with it, and then there are people who cannot trigger the meter dunk at all.

Dunking with bigger players is harder. Dunking with SF and guards is easier. Contact dunk is rare. My PF can’t posterize only if it doesn’t change into layup. He’s 6’8, 97 driving dunk, 95 standing dunk, 88 Vert. He can’t even do putbacks consistently. The animation gets triggered 1x every 5 gams or so. Dunking with guards and SFs with 90+ driving dunk is easy however, contact dunk is still hard. Putback is a lot easier too. Contact dunk was THE THING in 2K20 (my favorite 2K). I can’t remember how many bigs I dunked on with my SG with contact animation in park… 2K22 was good too but nothing compared to 2K20. 2K25 is trash and 2K24 was a little above trash but still kinda trash.

Bro i got 89 driving dunk with a contact dunk package equipped and although 89 may not seem like a lot 2 years ago i was getting every poster with that and in this 2k I made 3 actual contact dunks like its crazy i never misstime my wide open dunks so its not a timing thing it just always pops up as very late or very early

I would say its getting harder, i have learned to finesse defenders. Spin, euro, and hop steps or wait for people to put themselves out of position, it has changed. I hate it, because i get a 7' with a high interior changes my animation but little guys stop me, crazy.

@ 6’7 guard 96 dunk after cap breakers 85 vert but it have 85 speed agility and speed w ball I’ve noticed that the speed of your drive effects the animation so try use it right after a speed boost move

I got 93 driving dunk and I can’t get a contact dunk for shii especially with the meter I get em barely with square shii trash bruh then we aint gone talk about when you go up and get put out the animation

Bro, dunk meter dunking is exponentially tougher this year than 2k24. Square button dunking is unreliable but when it does give you the dunk animation over a layup you finish it generally. I figured something out when it comes to the dunk meter though. If you meter dunk off of a boost, hesi or crossover it is much better to get the contact dunks. I'm not saying that you'll finish them at a way higher efficiency, but you will up your percentage all while performing the actual contract animations. Otherwise, you will continue to get the same 5 to 7 dunk animations or get pulled into layups. I also no longer add a bunch of dunks to my animations. Add every contract animation you can plus all tomahawks you can have, plus LeBron and Westbrook. Limit the player packages. I hope this helps.

Dunk meter is definitely not as good/fun as 24 to me. I just deleted 25 this week and played a few games in 24 last night, played as a 6’8” pf with only 87 driving dunks and so-so ball handling/speed with ball. I got more contact dunks in a few 2k24 park games in one day than I have all of 2k25 season 3 with a quicker slashing wing.

That’s a skill issue my guy no salt no toxicity yfm im garbage at the game and I get contacts like crazy foo I play shooting slashers I’m a shooter at heart but I like scoring on all three levels and I use nothing g but the meter it’s all about strength animations and positioning my 6’4 gets the best contacts with a 78 very and a 90 driving dunk(after cap breakers)

@ what works for me is understanding open lanes for lobs and meter dunks and look at the opposing center interior defense and positioning of the opposing center for most of the game I’ve only used 87-89 driving dunk yesterday I made my first two 96 DD builds
