For us exactly the same! We rented in Lisbon for a year and when looking for a bigger apartment in 2022 we found buying was the better option...Size, security and price! I'd hate to be in the rental market now...Best decision ever was to buy when we did!!

Monique and Doug have a great channel. Monique was absolutely right… cauliflower was over $7 a couple of summers ago. Canada, while beautiful, has become unaffordable in many ways. Winters are brutal (Ottawa) and for many months, we lack most fresh foods… I can tell you berries, prey much in season are double what they were a couple of years ago. I love to see young couples traveling with kids… there is no better education! I wasn’t able to with my daughter, but wish I could have. She is good though, she travels a lot. It’s in her genes. Great interview!

Interested to know from Doug and Monique what is NOT so great about living in Madeira? Would like to be aware of the cons as well. Very nice interview!

Yes, Portugal is one of the best producing things and the worst "selling" it was always this way and I think it will be forever. Maybe something related to DNA 😉. There are pros and cons about this historical way of being. The cons usually make us lost lots of opportunities for growing and developing as a country, as a society; the pros make us keep our roots, our originality and, most important, the ethical values. Enjoy!
