Owned EZBass since day 1 and love it - use the audio tracker / midi grooves replacement a lot. First video review that has gone through the note articulations / key triggers, which I didn't know about - until now! So many thanks for sharing that.

I love this instrument. I use it on almost every project as I don't play bass. Set up the song parts, put the chords in and then I choose different grooves for each song part. Then I customise the grooves in the midi-editor - and that's where it's really brilliant - you can customise its grooves at a micro detail. You can also quickly add automated transitions which I really like.

Thank you for mentioning the same-sample feature of this tool. While having the same pitch, a muted 5th fret on the E string physically sounds differently from an open A string - although very subtle, they certainly behave differently. Toontrack should give you a commission for your demo, which is VERY informative. Very impressive product; what is more impressive is your keyboard ability!

Deal breaker there at the end. I've just bought the Ample Sound metal ray 5 and hopefully will splash out on their jazz bass this week. The sound and vibe when you play up the neck on ample sound basses can only be beaten by a real bass. Just discovered your videos. Awesome content. You've got me hooked on Ample Sound guitars. :)

Hi Robert, glad you enjoyed the videos. I knew it would be a deal breaker for some--especially people who are familiar with basses. I guess that's why it's called EZ Bass and not Superior Bass like their professional line. Hopefully they will come out with a Superior Bass line with multiple bass types and all the frets sampled. Cheers!

Thanks for a thorough review and demo. I own EZ Bass, but haven't mastered it by any means. Since you did this video, TT has added more basses. What do you think of them? Did they address the sampling issue you mention at the end? Finally, would you say adding Modo Bass is worth it for the current price of $99 (advantage: more basses to choose from)? Or would you advise that someone like me stick with the basses TT offers and learn the program in greater depth? Thanks.

Thanks so much for this review! I've been following your videos on Ample Guitar too - good stuff! So, would creating the bass part in EXbass and then exporting the midi to Ample bass or Trillian take care of the lack of samples issue with EZbass? I don't have EZbass yet - that's why I'm asking instead of finding out for myself. Thanks again - you are really helping a lot of us out!

Is that a NI S88 mkii? Can you recommend it? I´m thinking about to buy one
@craigkeys44 жыл бұрын
That's the only disappointment I have as well! The tone of the bass is supposed to change based on the fret. It's something that my bass player does when playing genres like reggae and Caribbean stuff. Some frets give you a more "rounder" sound. I really hope toontrack fix that in an update or expansion.

Right? Maybe they’re going to come out with something that blows every bass library out of the water with a Superior Bass or something. I would love to have something like that.

Hi Ruben....I just bought and thanks millions for showcasing the strengths of this beast !!! As you've correctly spotted the ONLY downfall is the lack sampling in the higher frets... Apart form that this is just t beast and you could do wonders with the re-trigger key! They have an expansion too for this now.... The EBX Classic Rock...and... you ... ALWAYS ROCK IT OUTTA PARK... I still do not understand why Ilya Efimov's Modern Bass Library or his other bass libraries not described properly in videos. Year is 2021 and for me it is still the best Kontakt library which gives you useful key switch ,cc control, articulations, voice leveling, and most importantly fret positioning opportunities.

To your knowledge, does the old Scarbee Rickenbacker similarly neglect to sample all of the strings? It's challenging to find this information. How about the amplesounds?

Hey Ruben, thanks for the video! Been waiting for you to do a review of this library. How does this compare to Ample Sounds Bass J and Bass P? Which one do you prefer?
@hifimidi4 жыл бұрын
That’s a tough one, this works flawlessly and is easy to program, but Ample Sound’s J Bass is my go to 95% of the time. It just has the most beautiful tone of all the basses I own and it’s fun to program. However, the slides in EZ Bass work a little better. It really comes down to your needs. But I was trying to use this in a track for an upcoming demo and couldn’t stand the high notes (they weren’t round or warm enough), so I ended up using J Bass and was more than satisfied. The owner of ample sound said he’s going to work on improving Riffer because the Groove tab is phenomenal.
@mattarimusic25454 жыл бұрын
@@hifimidi Thanks Ruben! Will probably end up with both, as really like the sound of the J Bass but some of the audio to midi conversion tools within EZ bass are great. Also looks like it has good articulations for programming realistic parts which is pretty important to me. Was wondering about the palm muting aspect of each as thats potentially quite useful for me? Great channel btw and great rallying on all the instruments you demonstrate. Enjoyed your rallying of your Moog through the Night Sky the other day. 👍
@hifimidi4 жыл бұрын
@@mattarimusic2545 the palm mute in EZ Bass is simulated. I think it’s a combination of frequency cutoff and sustain cutoff, so it’s not the real thing, but you can have many degrees of dampening in between.

There are some caveat that I found in this bass plugins : you can't use dominant 7th chords in the list of chords that you can choose from. When you try to auto-detect from a midi file the chords (played on a keyboard with a simple midi track), it reconize the chord but also the bass note... so you need to correct all the chords by hand to ditch the unwanted bass note :/. The other problem that I have with this bass is the sound, it's too "bassy" (adds muddyness), it takes too much space in the lower end, which makes it harder for mixing/mastering with it. Having said that, I like the pattern offered with ezbass, it helps newbie keyboard player like me :) and helps discover patterns for each genre of music; then I copy the midi pattern generated by ezbass to another track in my DAW with another bass plugin (Modobass for me). By the way, the midi-out of ez-bass ? buggy as hell (crash) !!!

Are you kidding me this bass has one of the best tones out there. I have modo bass, ez bass , orangetree flatwound bass, efimov bass collections, scarbee bass collections, ABP 3, Baby bass but Ez bass matches the best of them for great tone. Well your opinion

For general use, this. For Rock and Metal, Ray5 is still powerful and has more fret samples than EZ Bass, but if you aren’t great at programming, EZ Bass would be best.

I purchased EZ Bass and used it a handful of times and now it just sits there collecting dust. For me, I was spending too mush time correcting little problems such as EZB incorrectly identifying chords or starting at the wrong count. It also would not change playing styles when I clicked on a new one. I didn't have time to sit there and play with it for hours just to get it to work properly! It's a good idea, but I don't think they developed it enough. Save your money and just learn how to play bass! You'll save a lot of time and money!
