I bought this lens as soon as it was released. I use Lumix MFT cameras so a wide aperture lens is very useful in low light situations. Considering the price, I was very pleased with the overall quality of this lens.

I think the lens isn't really f0.95 because the exposure doesn't change between .95 and 1.2 🤔 how can you really test it? The Fujifilm lenses have higher exposure at the same aperature

I have this lens before. It does have chromatic aberration. Sometimes the bokeh can be a bit nervous, depending on the distance from the subject. But it is a very good lens especially for the price.

I think your old video just saved me 200 bucks. I got the whole Sigma trio and lately I got obsessed with bokeh. Was just about to buy one of these 0.95 lenses to complement the 1.4 ones just to get colser to the full frame look, but ... honestly ... seeing how tiny the difference is, I think I'm good.
@MarinIonut31805 ай бұрын
First of all I really enjoyed your review but there's something you should know: f/stop on apsc has no EQUIVALENT on full frame. 1.4 is 1.4 no matter the system. F/stop measures the amount of light. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
@evans97485 ай бұрын
You're correct about the F Stops in light gathering, F1.4 is F1.4 regardless of APSC vs Full Frame. The crop sensor does change the FOV and compression/bokeh though. He's saying the f0.95 will create bokeh similar to a FF F1.4, like how a 35mm will give the same FOV of 52mm.

Thanks! You saved me $250. I am a Fujifilm shooter and already have the excellent 35mm f/1.4 Fuji X lens. I thought the f/ 0 .95 would give me a different look for out of focus blur, but the results of your test shows me to just be happy with my f/1.4. Additionally, I can also just get on with shooting in autofocus and not have to hope that nailed the focus manually. Again, thanks!

I have both lenses and I feel there’s still a difference in rendering of the lenses. The images/colors/focus falloff is different between the two. Both are very nice and fun to use. Also, there is a difference in amount of light the 0.95 lens let’s in so my iso using the 7artisans lens is typically lower than when I use the 35mm f1.4.

That's because you're comparing 1.4 vs 0.95 on the same lens. Using 1.4 will not look the same on another lens like the Sigma 30mm 1.4 or even on a Fuji 35mm 1.4, for example.

Thanks so much for this video! It’s really helping me decide to buy this lens, especially the comparison images :) At 1:20 you say there’s no chromatic aberration, but at 4:43 I can see some blue/green colour pretty clearly around the cable in the background. Is that something different than chromatic aberration? I’m not very good with photography terms, thanks for helping :)

I can understand why the difference between f0.95 and f1.4 is so negligible. Look at the optical design of the lens. This lens is nothing more, just a vintage lens (the front six elements comprise a double Gauss optical design used in most vintage lenses). The rest (a few rear) elements comprise basically a speed booster to make it "larger aperture". But the thing is that all speed boosters have their limits. Cheap ones have a limit of max f1.4 pass through aperture. And the maximum aperture they can go down to is f1.0 at most. (Metabones supposedly goes to f0.9). So, no wonder the rear elements "speedboost" the lens to only about a 1/3 of a stop more than the native aperture of the lens would be. So, this is basically a f1.4 lens with a (very cheap!) focal reducer. That said, I do like the f1.4 rendering of it, the out of focus bubbles look round and nice. It would be interesting to see a comparison of this lens in f0.95 with another f1.4 lens (Sigma 30 1.4 DC DN, for example).

4:12 IDK, Isn't the point of a "fast lens" to allow you to shoot with faster shutter speed?
@OmaGhomrawi3 жыл бұрын
Which one is faster 1/100 or 1/400 ? The 1/400 is 4 times faster, so fast lenses (fast aperture) offer you the chance to shoot at slow shutter speed such as 1/50
@paceyombex3 жыл бұрын
@@OmaGhomrawi yes you can shoot with slower shutter speed using lens with big aperture (fast lens), but the point of using a fast lens is to allow you to shoot at faster shutter speed, isn't it? Why use big aperture and intentionally shoot at slower shutter speed? If you shoot with fast glass you don't need ibis to get a sharp photo, because your shutter speed will be really high, especially at 0.95 and, IBIS at slower shutter speed can't prevent your photo to not get blurry if your subject moved.
@OmaGhomrawi3 жыл бұрын
@@paceyombex I mean you have the option to use a slow shutter in low light withud increasing the ISO settings
@othomsen13 жыл бұрын
A lens with a larger maximum aperture (that is, a smaller minimum f-number) is called a "fast lens" because it can achieve the same exposure with a faster shutter speed.
@paceyombex3 жыл бұрын
@@othomsen1 My point precisely, if you are using fast glass you don't need to slow your shutter speed down (unless you are in a really dark room). Oh, and IBIS only works up to a certain point, if you go slower than lets say 1/15, even the best IBIS wont work especially if you are shooting portrait because your subject's movement will create blur.
