"Is Fan Service a Good Thing?" No, no, no. Fan service should be very minimal. Which is generally what was regarded as "fan service" back in the old days. Fan service now is "I am gonna reference the original movies NONSTOP through out the entire f**king film and have zero identity of my own." Edit/update: Someone said "Just look at Scream 5. Plenty of fan service and it was great and did well." while another said "Just throwing in cheap cameos of familiar faces for example and doing nothing with them is lame. If you're gonna bring a legacy character back actually do something with them." lol, that is exactly what Scream 5 did with Sidney and Gale. i see zero reason for why Sidney and Gale needed to be in Scream 5 and Scream was a total rip off of Scream 4, which to me is pointless....like let's say I want to watch all the Scream movies in a marathon. So we got the original Scream. Then we got Scream 2; college. Scream 3; Hollywood. Scream 4; the remake. Scream 5.......ANOTHER REMAKE?! Sorry but you ALREADY DID THAT. Why should I watch you do it AGAIN?! Personally, if I was involved, personally involved with the Scream 5 movie, I would of said "So your plan for part 5 is just gonna be a total retread into Scream 4? GO BACK and do something original. Go back to the drawing board and try not to steal other sequel ideas. Oh and actually justify and focus on Gale and Sidney and if you can't then take them out of the script." Gale and Sidney were nothing but just cameos. They just came because Dewey died and do nothing till the end where they kill the ghostfaces off. That's it. They were totally written off. Scream 4, they actually balanced the original cast and new cast and didn't forget who the main cast were; the original characters from the franchise. So Scream 4 focused on both casts while making it clear the original 3 were the main focus. Scream 5, all about the new cast and everybody else was just a cameo to put asses into seats.

"Stay away from tree branches" - OMG! You are so right, just this past Sat, I nearly ripped my ear off dodging a limb while mowing, ended up tearing my ear lobe up but if I hadn't had big headphones on to deflect a bit, it would have been horrible. It was a prev trimmed limb with a sharp edge, a slicer, lol! So funny that got mentioned on here.

Fan service is not what makes a film good or bad. I personally love fan service. I'm a fan. Service me! I know some people don't like it. No idea why. But fan service doesn't make or break a film in any way. Just look at Scream 5. Plenty of fan service and it was great and did well.

For me personally Piz I’m over fan service. I roll my eyes everytime now. If it’s very subtle then I guess? But we have had sum in ur face cringe completely unnecessary ones become too common.
