Nice experiment! What are you using to feed/fertilize? Do you fertilize the soil or just spray the leaves?

For fertilizing, I was feeding betta fish pellets with orchid fertilizer in the pitcher, and spraying the same fertilizer on the leaves. Nothing on the soil. ;)

I have two identical seedling clones that were shipped together and planted in the same pot. One had a dying pitcher and I fed it a betta pellet following Remy’s video for feeding small plants. The other plant still has green young pitchers so it has not been fed at all yet. After feeding the pellet, the next new leaf was almost THREE TIMES the size of the previous leaves!!!! The unfed plant grew a new leaf at the same time with no jump in size. Both have identical green leaves and both pitchering and both recently treated for thrips since they share a pot. It’s a fascinating experiment!

It might depend on the species, I have a bunch of complex lowland hybrids that were very small until I started to use maxsea on them and they started making huge leaf jumps.

I fed my Truncata, it’s like a 6” wide and 5” height plant with a pitcher around 2” height.. I fed live insect.. and ants crawl in too..

I’m growing my nepenthes in an indoor greenhouse. I’ve recently been told that it doesn’t matter how many lumens you have or how many kelvin you have. it depends on how much PPFD is being put out by your light. ..? I’ve been growing my plants with a 4 foot LED shop light, 5500 lumens 4000 k, 55 watt. Measured with my cellphone, 968 lux output. Apparently the lux is low, but I’ve had good results. With a basal growth!

All I can tell is that my lux are between 2200 and 3200 in the grow tent. And so much more on the windowsill by a sunny afternoon. ;)

@@WindowsillNepenthes Thank you. I talked to the people at Carnivero, they suggested I get a I florawave s40. ? LED grow lights are pricey. I’m assuming when the plants grow larger I’ll have to get one.

@@DeadlyPlants2024 for sure that's a great light. To compare, you can buy a car or take the bus 🚌, one is more expensive but faster... but both ways will bring you to your destination.

It's not mandatory but it helps them recovering faster.
