If there is no sort of long-term solution for the bot crisis, I just don't see enough reason to be optimistic about Tf2's future. Yeah, I'm glad that the ban wave is still going strong, but it's more a duct-tape solution than anything. VAC is still the same outdated anticheat, and there's also more questions to be raised here: What if the ban wave stops and the bots resurge again? It can't keep going on forever yknow. What if the bot hosters somehow find a way to bypass the ban waves? There's no concrete solution for all that, and I don't see Valve caring enough to implement one. It may seem like I'm asking for too much, and maybe that is true, but I still don't have much optimism for Tf2's future. I really love this game and I don't think I'll ever get bored of it for a long while, especially since I'm actually a new player, and I'll continue playing it (while not buying anything ofc), but I'm not really sure how this game's future will go well. Just because the petition ended a while ago, doesn't mean we just butter up our fingers for Valve and repeat the status quo. Tf2 isn't quite fixed yet

You basically just described the fight against hackers in every live game. There is not, and never will be a concrete solution. Any system is going to have a weakness, and that weakness is going to be found and exploited. The solution you're looking for is to have people actively work on TF2. Which... I mean, seems unlikely.

Cheaters will always find a way to come back, but at least for some of those other multiplayer games work will be put into at the very least driving most of them out so that they don't make those games near unplayable. With tf2 it's only happened for the first time in YEARS, the very first time being at the end of the SaveTf2 movement where Valve just did a short ban wave and restricted chat communication for f2ps, which obviously didn't help at all. That's why I'm not that optimistic for Tf2's future, we just can't rely on Valve, and I'm not too keen about the ban wave since I just think they're only doing treadmill work here for the summer update and then ditch us again.

This isn’t s ban wave we’ve been seeing. This isn’t like normal ban waves, wherein cheaters get all out together in a list and banned on the same day, this is some other kind of measure that is banning new accounts within a matter of hours, and it’s not VAC bans. This new measure is different, and no one knows definitively what it is or how it’s working. My guess is that valve has contracted manual reviewers to watch over demos and ban blatant cheaters

@@moonblaze2713 The thing about the bot crisis is that it is a lot more preventable than human cheaters. Bots run hundreds, if not thousands, of the same client coming from roughly the same place. They are bots and thus by nature are far easier to detect than humans. Human cheaters will likely never be gone entirely, but bots could be on their way out permanently. It wouldn't even be that hard.

I think it should be kept going for a while yet. Valve hasn't earned my trust in full yet for one. For two, I'm disgusted it took Valve close to five years to get off their asses and do something. It should have been DAY ONE to push through a massive ban wave and bring VAC up to date. I've been burned by them once in 2022 when they put out the now infamous "We hear you" tweet, and I learned from it. Keep the boycott going. Do not buy taunts, keys, cosmetics, tickets, or anything else having to do with TF2, CS:GO, CS2, DOTA2, or Deadlock. Not until Valve shows they're going to take shit like this seriously from now on.

The way I see it is honestly quite unfortunate because for me it will always end up being the same cycle over and over again. If we continue the boycott, Valve would probably see it as a loss and actually abandon the game for good but if we don't then we will become complacent again. So here is my proposal: The boycott should be reserved as a last line of defense whenever Valve's negligence starts rearing it's head again. However Valve is a strange business, they just seem to not care about products failing as long as they get to keep a clean image. It's as if money is worthless to them, and this unfortunately leads us back to screaming, yelling and bashing our heads towards a brick wall again. I see the endless cycle to be necessary at this point, it's just how it works now. It's basically the wheel of life of tf2 at this point, if we stay vigilant and boycott the game, Valve might lose interest and throw away maintenance for good. If we become complacent again and stay complacent, Valve will see their efforts to be enough and throw away maintenance for good. The only way this can keep going it seems is to keep the ball rolling and essentially treat Valve like a pet. Give them treats when they do good, and scold them when they do bad.

#FixTF2 is not over for me until the free2plays can chat again and the anticheat is properly fixed. The bots caused the chat restriction, so it should be reverted back.

i think it'd be neat to extend the voice commands a little bit, there's probably some unused dialog that would fit into the current state of TF2 that the Mercs could shout at us with
