Heck yah it's expensive, you get what you pay for in performance. But you don't need a $1000 or $500 rod for stillwater fishing. TFO and Redington make great middle of the road fly rods. In fact if you invest $100 for a rod wrapping kit, you can build your own custom fly rod, for half what a fly shop chargers for high end blanks. Fly lines are the highest cost anymore, they have doubled in price over the years.
