'foot --server' and footclient, what can you ask for more from the foo terminal!
@anon_y_mousse22 күн бұрын
I'd not heard of this terminal before, so I'll have to give it a try. I'm intrigued that there seems to be quite a few developers these days that keep starting new projects in C. It's kind of inspiring to see that not everyone has been brainwashed into one of the new cults.

There's probably a Rust rewrite of foot coming in the near future. ;)

how is your video so reminiscent of the cinematography of high quality movies from the 60s?
@JamesChampionLinux23 күн бұрын
Assuming you're not being ironic :) rather than a webcam to record, I use a digital camera with a 35mm lens and manual focus on "cinema" mode. Notice that if I shoot the video under natural light, unlike this one, I don't get this slight "strobing" effect, and this is because of LED light bulbs. I did a video about this camera and the link is below if you want to know more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6PPc6KVeq2raJY

Back in old times I considered xterm bloated (with the tek emulsion and all) and used rxvt to save memory. I had a 4 megabyte grid 386 laptop, it was very tight and swapped a lot.

rxvt just broke on me one day some years ago, and I could never fix it. :(

it's beautiful seeing people passionate about these things, as useless as they seem, these are a sign of a community that cares about tge details and quality of products and explores all sorts of possibilities then put them in competition. It's thanks to linux and this behaviour that we have a lot if options for terminals and we have some truly great terminal emulators

I'm following your videos with special attention, which are very important as a contribution and different from (almost) everything else found on KZbin today. Now, I think I'm not wrong when I say that you are spreading a training work in computing that covers many unknown points (at least for me) and that once learned, become essential. Keep going, and little by little. Greetings.

Honestly I used to use kitty as it is one of the few that can display Persian text properly (say I curl a website or an API), now I am trying ghostty, mainly because of the hype, also it would be nice if my mac and linux machines behave the same.
@JamesChampionLinux25 күн бұрын
What do you think of ghostty so far?
@ahrzb25 күн бұрын
Looks nice and native, slow startup, and fast enough. The thing is it looks native on mac and linux which is nice.
@FurqanHun24 күн бұрын
the only terminals i've used are gnome-terminal, xfce4-terminal, ghostty. After shifting to linux i used gnome for a day so i spent a day with gnome terminal (didn't liked it), i've since been using xfce4-terminal (for the past 8-9 months), i tried ghostty the day it launched but to me it looked like gnome-terminal (as it also uses gtk-libwaita instead of just gtk), i will try others in future but i don't think i would switch to anything else from xfce4-terminal...
@JamesChampionLinux24 күн бұрын
I need to get around to trying ghostty.

So the answer is no. Alacritty is the faster one. test for yourself. Also, it doesn't matter `time for i in {1..1000000}; do echo "$i"; done`
