Geoff has a five-octave range. Some of his solo covers I highly recommend: Ghost Riders In the Sky, Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold, The Sound of Silence, Sixteen Tons, Big Bad John. With his a capella group, VoicePlay: Nothing Else Matters, Hoist the Colours, Oogie Boogie's Song, My Mother Told Me, Dream On, Carry On Wayward Son, The Dragonborn Comes, Golden Hour, We Don't Talk About Bruno, and the new one they'll have dropping soon. But you really can't go wrong clicking on anything from either of their channels. Liked, subscribed and I would love to see you react to more from them.

Geoff usaully includes an instrumental in his solo work alongside acapella. Voiceplay is full on acapella with some exceptions. Also, you know how good of an artist Geoff is when he has someone like you stop what you are doing (walking the treadmill) to real focus on the master at work.

It's always fun to watch a first reaction to Geoff. Yes, it's all him, really all him. Arranged, Produced, Filmed, Performed and Edited by Geoff Castellucci. His wife did the costuming for this one and is his production manager. Try his covers of Elivs' Way Down or BIll Withers' Ain't No Sunshine. Completely different from each other and totally different from this one. Subscribed in anticipation of more Geoff and Voiceplay.

Geoff has a five octave range but it isn't shown here. And we all have low voices on waking up, when the vocal folds are relaxed. To see more of his range you could check out Blackbird, or even Country Roads.

Geoff and Tim have quite similar range, about 5 octaves . Geoff can probably go somewhat lower and Tim slightly higher, but they both have bass to tenor range. They use different techniques getting low, Geoff subharmonics and Tim growls, which makes Geoff sound smother at his lowest notes. They are friends and have helped each other practice their different techniques.

@@Prozak63 In addition, the two of them are good friends and I don’t think Tim would think very highly of that remark. They are both supportive not only of each other but other basses. Remarks like his are such a disservice to the artist. I no longer enjoy Pentatonix as much as I used to because so many of their fans make similar comments about other groups. I just don’t even want to watch them anymore, because I know that when I go to make a comment I’m going to see some snarky, little snotty remark and it’s going to ruin it for me. I don’t understand why people can’t appreciate each for their insane talents without disrespecting others. 😠

@Janet Wright Geoff has a video on KZbin where he says that he learned how to so low without damaging his vocal cords from Tim.
@janetdw Жыл бұрын
@@Prozak63 I remember seeing that. I think it is really great that they share their techniques with each other. Geoff doesn’t use the growl technique nearly as much as Tim. But I’ve noticed lately that every once in a while there’s a different tone to his voice that I think might be using that growl technique. I’m pretty sure he’s using that a bit in the new one coming out. But once it gets that low, I have trouble distinguishing them.🤷🏼♀️ He credits David Larson for learning about subharmonics which is his usual way of getting really really low. It’s so strange to hear that incredibly low tone from baby faces David. I’ve been listening to Marwan Ayman a lot lately. I cannot figure out how he is getting that low low tone. It doesn’t sound like Tim or like Geoff. He has a very unique sound- at least to my untrained ear.

I believe you have reacted to one of VoicePlay’s pieces before. Either that or there’s another reactor that walks on the treadmill at the same time that they’re watching😊. And he got you to stand still!😂 He does have five octaves all the way from the low end of the piano. That is him doing the tenor and he has a pretty impressive falsetto as well. He can’t hit all five octaves in one day however. As you stated your voice is lower in the morning and he has said he often records first thing in the morning when he knows he has to record something that low . One of my favorites is from the movie the Hobbit - Misty Mountains and he does go higher in that, plus the costumes are awesome. You liked his armor, so I’d like to recommend you watch VoicePlay’s Dragonborn/Skyrim. The baritone is wearing 20+ pounds of chainmail in addition to gauntlets and gorget. He’s not real big, and he had to lie down between takes because the weight of the armor was hurting his shoulders. It almost wants me to take a video gaming. They’ve also done Viking pieces. One was released a few years back: My Mother Told Me an Icelandic saga featured in the game Assassin‘s Creed and the television program the Vikings. There he goes full out Gjallarhorn (Heimdahl’s horn in Thor). You might want to watch that if you think you’re going to watch the one coming out probably later this week: Valhalla Calling Me. Another favorite is VoicePlay’s cover of Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean 3. It broke a lot of reactors. Subscribing to see if you cover more VoicePlay and Geoff Castelucci.

His lowest note so far is a C0, which is the third key on the far left of a full sized piano. Yes, two more keys and he falls off the piano entirely. His highest, a F5, is one octave above middle C on the same 88 note keyboard. If we took the smallest keyboard size, 49 notes, and tuned it to his range, he would be able to sing all but the lowest and highest 3 notes. It does in fact make even professional base singers jealous at times. But to your question of "do you hear that note?"... I listen to Geoff all the time, but only on my laptop. If I am listening on my phone, those lowest notes are outside its ability to reproduce.

I just came across your reaction channel. I started listening to Voiceplay and Geoff about a year ago. For me, the only group I truly listen to is Voiceplay and Geoff solos. The other groups are good, but Voiceplay brings the theatrics to tell the story which for me, no one can compare! I enjoyed watching your reactions, because that’s how I felt when I first found them/him. Yes, Geoff does have that range ! You really need to listen to all his solo work plus his work with Voiceplay. I think it is great that he can do both. What also makes it special and why they aren’t as famous as Pentatonics is they maintain ALL control! They pick the songs, they do all the video, they do the costumes! They work seamlessly together and are all friends and get to enjoy their family life as well. You really should listen to Geoff’s narration of stories. They are such down to earth artists! They do Webchats with their fans through the Patreon site too. They truly are the best out there! Thanks for reacting to them, but you’ve only done the tip of the iceberg! If you go back to their beginning videos, you can see how they’ve grown and developed! I look forward to your next reaction of their songs. Geoff's range runs from A0 up to at least A5. (A standard piano keyboard runs from A0 up to C8. Octaves start at C, so the first three white keys on a standard piano are A0, B0, C1; and the last three white keys are A7, B7, C8. The black keys are either sharps or flats, depending on what key signature you're using.) Several of the other members of VoicePlay can hit higher notes than A5, but I believe Layne, the beat boxer, is the only one in the group known to be able to hit lower than A0. Another way to understand the ranges: on a grand staff for standard SATB choir arrangements, the lines on the bass staff are G2, B2, D3, F3, A3, and the lines on the treble staff are E4, G4, B4, D5, F5. Middle C is C4. So for amateur choirs, bass range is the top of octave 2 and the bottom of 3, tenor range is mostly octave 3, alto is top of 3 bottom of 4, and soprano range is the top of 4 and bottom of 5. Most sopranos can hit at least one or two notes above the top of Geoff's range, but at the low end he's got about an octave and a half that many amateur bass singers can't touch. However, serious professional bass singers, often can. All four members of the Bass Gang can sing in that range, and the bass singers for Home Free and Pentatonix likewise can and do; although Geoff's voice has a nice strong resonant tone down there that impresses a lot of people. Professional sopranos can frequently hit well up into octave 6 or even 7. Some countertenors can do so as well. Much beyond that isn't terribly useful: the piano keyboard stops where it does for good reasons. At the low end, if you dip too far into octave 0 you start to run up against the lower limit on the human hearing range, and at the high end, if you get up into octave 8 it can get pretty uncomfortable to listen to.
@azekel7687 Жыл бұрын
Geoff once said that he's a low baritone, but his speaking voice doesn't sound like a low baritone, it sounds like a lower bass, probably not the lowest bass called Basso Profundo, but he's low amongst bass vocalists and he has a great upper range, he can sing in a baritone and tenor's range and that's very impressive for a bass to do. When he sings in baritone's range in the 4th octave, he uses full on chest voice and in some cases when he's singing in tenor's range in the 5th octave he uses falsetto.

There's an "old" Disney medley by Voiceplay, "Little Mermaid medley", in which Geoff does a SICK run-slide from a HIGH tenor almost-scream note down to below the basement in the same breathe 😁. And there is a couple B0 in their version of the Halo theme... as well as in the NEXT video they'll release soon, "Valhalla's calling" (the "sequel" of "My mother told me"... where he earned the nickname of #FoghornGeoff by other reactors). Heck, there's a freaking B0 IN THE TRAILER!! 😱😁 Yes, Geoff sings all parts. His range is some 5 octaves, and he's constantly working to extend it. 🙂 You may check any video in his channel... They're all good. I'd suggest his most recent, his own take of "The Sound of Silence". Awesome. Or "House of the Rising Sun". Oh, and of course "Far over the Misty Mountains cold"... 😉 See you next time!

The song is about a vassal who decides he's no longer subservient to one of the great lords of the kingdoms. House Reyne of Castamere refuses repayment of a loan from their leige lords, House Lannister of Casterly Rock. Both use the lion as their sigil; the Reynes a red lion on a field of gold, the Lannisters a gold lion on a field of red. After their army is wiped out, the Reynes retreat into the mines that are a part of their castle. The Lannisters seal up the mines and divert a nearby river into the only opening, wiping out all members of House Reyne. The word play, "now the rains weep o'er his halls, with no one left to hear" referring to this. After that, whenever someone thought of rebelling against House Lannister, rather than send their army they simply sent a singer to the would-be rebels to sing The Rains of Castamere.

In Valhalla Calling he subs 3 extended B0s, the first one is 14 seconds.
