Having a handicap is very motivating. I started out not keeping score. I then started hitting par 4's in 8, then 7, and most recently 6 to 5 shots and have hit two pars. I scored a personal best 108 recently. Ive been golfing for 4 months so im just starting. But ill break 100 soon and be that 28 handicap.

If you go right to 20 min you can see your hands ahead of your club head on the take away. When you grip it rotate your inner elbows to lock your inner lateral tendons and it should help a ton.

I sense another misunderstanding of handicap here - it's not how far under par you expect to shoot on average, it's how you do compared to the course rating and slope.

Actually course rating and slope are designed precisely to account for average difficulty, so your comment demonstrates a misunderstanding. It's roughly the average score to par of your best 40% *on average courses*.

You then use the rating of the course you're playing vs your index to know how many shots you get towards par. If someone told you that your index is based on the average course they misinformed you.

That's why courses have slope and course rating -- to make handicap calculation (after playing said course) relative to a course of average difficulty. It's a way of adjusting to the average. (Handicap is CALCULATED based on courses you play, obviously lol). That's why it doesn't matter whether you play hard or easy courses, you'll end up with the same handicap (in theory). FYI, I'm a 4 index who has been playing for 35 years.

Massive misunderstanding about handicaps in comments. I could only find the scratch/slope rating for the blue, white & red tees. Blues being a 73 scratch rating So a +3 could shoot 2 under par 40% of the time they play. White tees had a scratch rating of 70, so the back markers, or gold tees or tiger tees they played off would have had to be 75 or 76. Let’s say it’s 76, then over 18 holes you’d expect a +3 handicapper to shoot 1over 40% of the time. Grants for sure a +3 or maybe better. Great content fellas Keep it up
