So is HoT worth the money 1 year on? From a extremely well hyped launch, to the frustrations of lack of content, delayed promises, what have we got 12 months later? Well it does appear HoT is starting to fulfill its promises, this video delves into what its like now!

I bought it on sale. I love Guild Wars 2. Second favorite MMO after EverQuest. I have been waiting for it to go on sale when I had money for a while. Not mad about $50, money is just tight and I haven't had time for MMOs much lately, so $25 is better. It's worth $25 to me to have access to all the content for sure. If you're on the fence about it or you don't really like GW2 then don't buy it and go play another game. If you enjoy GW2 and it's a game you want to get back into or keep playing, get it, at least when it's on sale. GW2 honestly has the best MMO pricing model out there right now and I trust them to keep on being rad, so I'm happy to put out a bit of money for them every now and then. Fifty dollars is very standard for an xpac and they're not even trying to churn them out at a stupid rate like other games just to take your money. And this is on top of all of the living world and other content they have put out for free using the initial $50 people spent on the game originally. You want to play the game and you like it, get it. Don't like the game and want to play something else? Pass on it.

yes hot brought me back to gw2 in 2015. Never was as active as im now. Played since beta and Stopped in 2013 and with lots of breaks in the me meantime . but since hot out i didnt do a break. Its so much you can do now. its feels like an awesome endgame for me now. Its the raids, fractals and getting hot legandaries . pushing your char to the Best With legendary and ascended gear.

At the moment Hot is on -50% sale + character boost. I am really considering it. Thank you for the video. I would agree to the other guy saying, shorter videos could be better.

actually it doesn't worth 60£ at all , maybe 30-40 but certainly not 60

It doesn't really matter. 60£ is still way too much for HoT. Probably always will be. Sure, there is content there. Even alot of content (If you really scrape the bottom of the barrel) but 60£? No.. Just no.

I got HoT back in January and I haven't even finished the first map. I get too distracted by other things. haha.

One thing I don't like with HoT is that all gear upgrades are almost purely cosmetic (I believe full ascended gear gives a 5% boost over exotic). Considering how long time it takes to get ascended gear I believe it's a bit ridiculous. One plus though is that GW2 focuses more on skill, which I like a lot, but I still believe you should be able to get much better gear upgrades for all your hard work.

$50 is a price for a full game, not an expansion, at least it would worth 20 to 30

You get the game+HOT expansion with $50. The free to play game is very much a demo with over 60% of things restricted. $50 for a whole game+Expansion with 7+ maps, raids, ghalls, specialization and countless other things is most definitely worth it.

I bought it when it was on sale and then it was definitely worth it. However as someone who loves lore and a awesome story, I think it could have been longer and more in depth but I obviously still love the game. Maybe I'm just moaning :0 but dunno if I would have paid full price for it

I wouldn't consider the Living World 3 maps as part of HoT.

No it is not worth it as to me Hot ruined the game far far more then it ever helped it. If it was 40.00 or 30.00 then yes I would say get it and have fun after the fixed so much they got wrong. But this was done so poorly I know want to wait and see how next exapc will be. Or even GW3 is if it ever comes out. I pre ordered Hot and felt I got robbed all year long. Get in a large active guild. Short friends and family guild got destroyed.

People seem still so obsessed with the game, and i hear more and more positive feedback, but also hear more opinions like i used to have for like 2 full years till i abandoned the game : how Anet and Nc totally destroyed the Guild wars title, with the massive not caring. And it still feels to me they dont care at all. So much content...but still feels like : we didnt get anything actually. Still feels like a beta game comapred to Gw1 to me. Whell thats to be expected with this ...wierdass combat system thats all about : DPS-DODGE-ReZ or wait for rez...and sadly thats way to deep in the core of the game so it wont change. It is still half the game they wanted it to be. Basically there is 0 evoirenment interaction like they promised, and we got guild halls soooooo late, it was an awesome feature of the original game, and now we need to pay for it, when in fact it was promised to us "we took everything that was good". I am so not sure what my realistic opinion is...but to save some positive though for the end...it is still quite good when you look at other mmorpg-s of the last 2-3 years.

The way they've done pricing is pretty bad for both new and old paying players. Your perspective and almost everyone giving opinions on this is strongly affected by the fact you bought HoT around its launch date, and was already involved in the endgame content. As someone who is entirely new to the game, I ain't paying 50$ for an old expansion that might be depreciated sooner or later. If it were cheaper, I would consider buying it when I reached max level, but I doubt I'll get there because I'm playing a gimp version. (I'm not even sure if I can reach max level) Therefore, the whole notion of bringing in new players by promoting f2p hasn't worked on me at all. I'm not even sure exactly how gimped my "free" version is. For example, can I purchase Living World seasons without buying HoT? People hate on cash shops and "pay to win" models, but I actually think the way purchasing works for GW2 is worse. In "pay 2 win" situations, a consumer is buying into something they already invested a lot of time, and they know what they're getting. In GW2, you buy something and a year later you recognize it changed into something good, so from your perspective it's worth it because you already played for that "good" year. On the other hand, if you bought the vanilla game and HoT, you probably don't like players getting free/discounted content that you paid a high price for. Meanwhile, a person like me thinks he's installing a mostly free game where I can optionally invest money later but quickly finds out that it's a really gimped version, and I pretty much need to buy the expansion right away.

Path of Exile is one of my favorite games out there (My profile picture is even of the creator of the game, Chris wilson as "RNGesus", and has been for a long, long time) But if you really think about it Path of Exile doesn't have that much content. Not compared to a game like Guild Wars 2. Which is why it's amazing that PoE has so much replay value. GW2 seriously needs to implement something similiar to that of the skill tree in poe. Maybe not something that has a direct impact on your character (Not skillprogression) but something that really makes you wanna go out there and try stuff out. Something..
