Here is the kicker, since you are not doing what you used to do, of course you don’t get the same type of people watching! You can do whatever you want for life. People will do what they like and watch what they want to watch. Especially you were living in China, many people like your beloved wife so they watch you. Now you are planning to live in the Philippines, Chinese are likely not interested. You may get more of the locals watching you. Good luck with that.

Kirk, you can always do a comparison video between China and the Philippines which will always draw the interest of people curious to see the differences - a country that pulled itself up by the bootstraps to become China of today and still powering ahead versus one that has kept on falling back on a foreign power that once conquered and colonized it and has not developed by much since even after being granted independence (physically but not mentally).

Come on Gweilo, don't be discouraged. You have to get to know KZbin's algorithm, read the changes they make every few months (for example, the changes YT made to its automated system that hides certain content from users that KZbin's funders/sponsors don't like, etc.). The bad thing about this social network is that it gives greater visibility to certain content that is in line with the hegemonic agenda (junk content in general or propaganda against certain things). I am your subscriber for many years now gweilo. The reason I don't watch your videos from the P. is because I have a problem with these people and country for what they did when they attacked and tried to take over parts of our sovereign country. These people did a lot of heinous things to our citizens when they briefly occupied our lands. It was never reported in the media.

Take time and watch out. You are relatively well-known in the Philippines which will tend to draw the wrong types. If you are serious about dating, it's probably best to get recommendations from sensible expats or Phil Ams. My wife of 30 years could, for certain, make some recommendations of women who are smart, fun, and highly ethical.

@Gweilo 60 Wow!!...as soon as you got close to the fish market it really did give the early 2000's China vibe, brilliant stuff!! It seems a bit too warm to be livable there during the day though... seems only the locals there can hack it... If you're seeking respite from the tropical heat prevalent in much of the Philippines for a while, then might I suggest Tagaytay (Cavite) as a destination worthy of exploration, - it's a much more bearable climate, and it gives you the best of both worlds as it feels more like China, and has both cultural and climate characteristics which truly set it apart from other regions in the country, interestingly you get to hear other dialects/lanauges there too, as they don't just speak Tagalog, but spanish creole languages are widely spoken around there too, - I think you'd find it super interesting and you might get to meet some fascinating people there. Food for thought anyhow, keep on doing what you do Gweilo, - good luck to ya!!

Gweilo60 was one of the only (if not THE only) "older guy in China" channels out there. The "older guy in PH" market is beyond saturated and full of drama. And honestly, there isn't that much to say that hasn't already been said. Though looking back, Gweilo60 is pretty much the only channel I've semi-consistently followed for 7+ years, I'll keep watching the vids as long as he keeps making them.

The rule for social acceptability in the USA (unless you are a rich retired professional football coach) is 1/2 your age plus 7. 64 x 1/2 + 7 = 39 years old is as low as you can go for a significant other. However, being in the PI, the rules for acceptability are different. Perhaps knock off 10 years and you are looking at women no younger than 29. This is science, best to strictly adhere to these rules. Good luck.

Of course you will lose the majority of viewers as they watched for the content from China. But that's ok. You made a decision to try the Philippines and you do you. As for living in the Philippines, you will have to get used to the customs there as they are different then in China. Same goes for the girls and the specific customs with dating them. I don't watch every video because I'm not terribly interested in the Philippines. I'm not keen on their politics, and watching all that poverty isn't much fun. Thailand is more dynamic and interesting (I've lived there).

I find the PI interesting, in a way that all countries are interesting in their differences. In this country you have a large percentage of poor people, but that is only in relativity to richer countries. The PI is proving happiness is not constrained to a certain monetary figure. It is based on one's relationship to others around them. I think the feeling of being poor is generated by having great disparity of wealth in one's face every day. But when everyone around you is in the same boat, it feels normal. And you can be happy with your environment.
