Is Hansi Flick the right man for Barcelona?

Most culers will probably remember Hansi Flick for that infamous 8-2 annihilation, but life goes in funny circles and as fate would have it, he is now one of the frontrunners for the Barca coach audition.
But how is Flick? Is he the harbinger of the famous German school of football which Laporta has been so keen to bring to Camp Nou? Is he a marked departure from Xavi? Can he truly work within Barca's financial constraints and create a title winning team?
Is he the right person to develop our youth from La Masia?
A million questions which probably have more than a million answers.
In this episode we look at some of Flick's tactical and statistical attributes and how those can be implemented with the players we have.

Well there is no verifiable way to predict that. One can assume that the famed German philosophy of fitness can be inculcated - and if that happens great, but can’t really predict that for sure.

Flick is likely a better man manager with clearer instruction and training methods. What we have to keep in mind is that the Bayern he took over was basically complete with all the profiles he needed, with the majority being seasoned players. He would have several profiles with high-quality players to choose from. However, I think we would be missing a few.... take the wide attacking options, for example, we don't have the kind of speed, power, and comfort of going inside or outside that his Bayern had. Maybe we sign that ball winning, defensively solid MF. It would be an interesting appointment. Thanks for a good analysis of Flick and his potential fit at Barca.

We tried to keep player losses outside the purview - since almost alll coaches lose players ( Eg Xavi did too all season dud to injuries etc) . We just wanted to see who does the best with what they have

Flick ;like fast players and Barca has always been a position play. That's why last season we did better cause we had Dembele. And Flick had left back fast and the wing fast both sides. that is why in the German team he could not provide that. So I am sorry but he can't do the same with this Barca team unless the is money and we don't have, with Roberto the is no need for money as he is like Pep

This team will be very good under flick. I think the problem is that you think that a coach can only play one way. Every good coach adjust to the players they have . He plays a posession based football which aligns with barcelona perfectly. You're comparing barca players to Bayern as if he cant coach anywhere unless he has players like at bayern .

He may. He may adapt as well. Great coaches adapt . Ur right. Just look at Pep Guardiola. How Flick evolves himself is part of his own growth as a coach. But it would seem that adapting to the squad to some extent might be necessary. We will learn if he can once he is chosen

If true, that obviously is a much bigger problem. In the past 5 years Barca have almost completely changed the core of the team- but dressing room politics are normal. Wherever there are people. There will be politics of power play (hard and soft) Hopefully the coach is equipped to manage it. Or else the players who cause team cultural to implode, should be let go.

The right man or Xavi? Xavi is the right man for Barca, but you cannot give him only two years, only being able to buy players in one and not the other; where he wins trophies in one year and not the other, then state that he’s not doing well after you’re not giving him the material that a team of such caliber requires. Flick had a great team at Bayern the year after he won the treble, if I’m not mistaking they played well and only won the German league, which is obviously not as difficult as the Spanish league, you can see it based on the previous years winner of the Bundesliga. With that result people at Barca would be asking for him te get sacked, so how’s he going to be better for Barca when even with better teams he wins similar trophies to Xavi’s Barca? Do you think he will know the club as much as Xavi does? Or that he will come to Barca and accept a very low pay just like Xavi did? Or that he will accept to coach a team where the only signings will be players that are on the brink or retirement and come for free to the club to play their last 2 years?

For the fact your comparing the Bayern and Barca team that is wrong, Flick will be bad for Barca but De Zerbi will make the B team and the first team to be good. We have just compared two seasons that each coach has had in “european club” football. Including Hoffenheim for Flick or Al Saad for Xavi or National team stints didn’t make contextual relevance. We understand our point of view. Maybe Flick is right for Barca . Maybe he isn’t. We simply don’t know. Hence- we have just talked about what we think his strengths and weaknesses are compared to the current Barca coach (cos he is the one to be replaced) . Hopefully, whoever comes, helps Barca. De zerbi is another setien, xavi & tenhag. Since 2015 no tiki taka manager other than pep has won the UCL and pep has unlimited resources. Nagelsmann is still isn't sure if he wants the Barcelona job or not. Flik is the best overall option and he is eager of the Barcelona job. Most importantly he is a mature man.

Well winning the league is not bad. Its quite hard actually. And Xavi has given us some great football as well. Albeit it has been few and far between. One has to also consider, Xavi never really got the players he wanted and he is a really young coach. So hopefully he will gain experience and become even better over time. And hopefully whoever comes can help us play well and also win the league
