Kevin if any of your dogs starts to vomit and even vomits after some intake of water. You need to rush them to the vet as an emergency. Considering that huge slab of pork fat. Can give the dogs Pancreatitis which is inflammation of the pancreas, which can be deadly to a dog. So just keep this in mind. Also pork product are difficult to digest for dogs too, as well as dairy products. But any pork product, fat, meat etc. Is bad for dogs, my wife is a DVM.

Vets always advice to not give dogs ham bones or pork fat as dogs can’t process the amount of fat in pork which is what causes pancreatitis. They can have severe diarrhoea and vomiting it’s very dangerous for them and requires a vet visit and sometimes they don’t survive 😢

Growing up we never gave pork to our dogs. My Dad said they don't digest it right. I just love watching my chickens and ducks. There's a peaceful feeling I get.

A dog can digest if fine. But pork is dangerous to dogs. It can cause pancreatic inflammation. They get too much it can cause death. My wife is a DVM and I'm a MD who loves animals.

Kevin just a thought on Russell limp.We had a German Doberman. He had same limp problem. Vet said bones were growing faster than muscle and tendons. We had to feed Large Dog Puppy Food until he was two. No more problems after food change. 🤷. Prayers for Caleb's recovery. Blessings 🙏🫶❤️🫶🙏

Definitely needs a vet visit for Russel. Large breed dogs at the puppy stage that grow too fast can have all sorts of issues that can range from no big deal to really big deal. One of mine (Great Dane) needed a full on knee replacement at 18 months old! Learned from him not to feed puppy food to those fast growing breeds. Real bummer and though he’s fine now and recovered quickly, sure hurt the pocket book for a while. He recovered much quicker than my bank account did! We also were advised that the right knee will also be weaker and susceptible to a blowout so he wasn’t able to have big play dates with the neighborhoods pups. 😢

If you keep track rightb4 the geese hatch out you can put in food/water and pen them up for a couple weeks till the goslings get a little bigger & faster. 😊

Nothing is better then home raised meat, eggs and produce! 💗 I work ER Vet Med.... And seeing just straight fat being fed to the dogs makes me Wentz 😬😬😬 as dogs can't digest fat they same way we can and can and will lead to pancreatitis if fed to much . 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 For you and hoping their size is in your side. The limp being on and off like that for so long - I would get X-rays done to make sure he's not dysplastic - and if he is then catching it as early as possible is best to help prolong his quality of life .

I’ve had many animals my whole 52 years of life. My father was a farmer during the depression. Every vet I’ve taken my animals too has bee full of shit, just spouting what society was telling them too. One told my mom her cat was going to die from lukimia at 6 months, the cat lived to 23 years old. Another told me to put my poodle down because of heat exhation at 3 years old, she lived to be 14 years old.

I agree that pork is bad for dogs. Better to feed a higher protein in the winter time or the required feed for the larger dogs. Nobody likes vet bills. My old dog has bone cancer in her shoulder. She's a lab and will turn 14 this February. It started hurting in October. She's on pain medicine and pills for the nerves.Sad thing to lose an old pet.

I was wondering how many people would get on here and tell you dogs shouldn't eat pork fat. So I was thinking I had maybe been told wrong, and googled it. This is what I found. No, dogs should not eat pork fat; it is difficult for them to digest and can lead to stomach upset, pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), and other digestive issues due to the high fat content, so it's best to avoid feeding it to your dog altogether.

You are absolutely correct, and a dog can die from pancreatitis....any medical condition that ends in titis or itis is latin from inflammation. My wife is a DVM and I'm a surgeon. Pancreatitis is very dangerous to humans too. Best way to treat is NPO....nothing by mouth not even water/liquids. So you would need an IV. Also, anti inflammatory like prednisone (high dose of 40mgs) then ween down 5 mgs per week or 10 mgs every 2 weeks. Sometimes physicians will prescribe antibiotics like Flagyl as a prevention for secondary infection.

The other hens might get online with the new nest box as the days get longer and they start laying. If someone can go out early and get the corner pile picked up, that will keep others from laying there. Hens want to lay where others have laid, so that when one goes broody, there's a clutch waiting. (sorry for all the posts, just didn't want to make a massive "novel" post)
