I liked Year of FIRE until it actually lasted a year. I think the format was fine for what it was, but it for sure over-stayed its welcome. Over 6 months of Snake-Eyes, Yubel, Tenpai, Fiendsmith is enough to drive anyone crazy. Even me, a guy who enjoyed Year of Fire, is bored of the format.

I think you might be confused that's the same thing. Handtraps are non engine. If this is a comparison between current format and retro formats like Edison I can kinda see your point but even in those formats you could opt to play a pile of engine like glad beast or something and there's not really a comparable deck in current age that can play into the 20 non engine environment

Already out the gate peeps has issues. What “slaughter” needs to be done? The format seems somewhat healthy from a gameplay perspective. Yeah, the pricing is a massive issue but a banlist won’t solve that. And rayzel has the tools(and more importantly the deck space) to compete with any deck in the meta. I mean if Atlantean mermail can top events rayzel will be just fine in the format.

Deck diversity does not equate to a healthy format. Lingering floodgates that remove skill from the game are a huge portion of every single deck in the format. Shifter, DBarrier, Fuwaloss, Protos, there's too many to even list comprehensively. The game is in dire need of a slaughter list that addresses the fact that the majority of games are won based not on skill but who drew their game-warping singular blowout card. The fact that a deck like Fiendsmith Kashtira, while a really cool innovation, is built on the idea that if you play so low to the ground that your entire deck is just generics that your opponent's auto-win floodgates won't hurt as hard, means that there is something seriously wrong with the game. It has dramatically regressed to Goat format levels of simplicity built on an over-abundance of overtuned generic cards that drown out the game's mechanical strengths. Only a comprehensive banlist is capable of fixing that

The possible "Slaughter" banlists happen when Konami TCG wants to end a diverse format and push the game into a more monotone one. A diverse format is bad for Konami’s sales strategy. They need a monotone format to drive players to buy a few top-tier decks. Then, they kill those decks in the next format, release new overpowered decks, and repeat the cycle. This keeps players buying the latest top decks, ensuring consistent profit for Konami.

Maliss gameplay is different than Mathmech.. Mathmech doesnt let you play, they can ripe your hand even before you can play with their trap combo and bunch of negate.. Maliss is more interactive because it wait and reach to what you play(letting you play), they doesnt have "negate" except for Terahertz>Desavewurm

Yugioh couldnt be saved anymore... Be realistic yugioh players... i played 2014 event on master duel and i enjoy it a lot of. Standard sucks as the modern yugioh, i hate combo decks so much, and put you "literally" to play more engine (HT or board breaker or archetype played as engine) than actual archetype cards sucks. Because: 1) back then wasnt a big of a deal having more generic cards considering the decks were a lot of weaker than now. 2) there were much more interactivity back then (in standard max c or shifter could end your turn instantly or your opponent can play around HT easly like yubel/snake eyes and still ending in a very powerful board you cannot win against it. 3) back then was much easier to enter in a card game like yugioh than now. Unless you dont know at least something on yugioh or love this card game, i garanteed its impossible to having fun in this game as newer player (at least for people that have a job unless they love it). You need too much time and effort to learn this game nowadays that isnt worth your time, card text too long, combo lines that takes you so much time to figure whats your opponent doing or what is ending on, complexity and interaction between cards and dont let me even start talking about the ruling 😂. Yugioh is a card game, it shouldnt be complex to enter in this card game and most importantly shouldnt be stressful to play remembering every combo line where to negate etc... immagine someone finishes to work, return to home and to relax plays a game, did you really wanna pick yugioh as new game? 😂 Yugioh the way to make people playing on the TCG is master duel why? 1) its free to download in any platform 2) you can build whatever deck you want for free 3) you can play it wherever you want 4) you can find new friends, its something you can do. Master duel is the bridge for people want to play the game with the actual cards (even if it is expensive, it give to people love for the game to keep going). But this isnt the case because the game suffer from having this issue to not having a permanent mode other than standard. I like master duel events because gives you diversity but it doesnt incentivite players to play more because the rewards are so few and bad, it should give more prices and should be much frequent than forcing people on playing mostly standard. Just give more prices and give diversity other than standard and the game would be already much better.

This is such a crap series of crap takes lmao. - I'm so tired of slaughter lists. Everyone was laughing at the MD Banlist approach yet overtime it proved to be the best possible. If you're not a 99 percentile Whale that buys almost everything and has Yu-Gi-Oh as their only hobby, you don't even know wtf to buy anymore. You buy an archetype or an engine and due to reprints and bans it ends up being unplayable in less than one year. -Where is the upcoming shift in strategy fairness? I can only see more and more archetypes and engines doing different flavours of one card combos plus insane follow up capabilities. Again: if Konami doesn't change the card design approach, what's the point of destroying old strategies? -We might end up playing less hand traps to include breakers for Ryzeal, but never doubt for a second the most toxic or at least good handtraps will almost always see play. Shouldn't I run Fuwaloss vs Ryzeal? Are Nibiru and Shifter going to become completely unplayable for the time being?
