A guy with a cat is a big green flag for me. Cats require a certain amount of patience and care and you have to learn to respect their boundaries so I'd assume he had those qualities until proven otherwise. Of course, there are people who own cats who don't have any of those qualities but at least the possibility that they do will get my attention. Not that I'm even interested in dating lol

Same, I think guys who have cats are more trustworthy than guys with dogs. I actually swipe left on guys with dogs on dating apps lol. I’m not a huge dog person, they’re a little much for me. But the guys that I went on dates with who had dogs, didn’t even treat them well. Some were even mean and outright abusive towards their own dogs because they don’t know how to discipline them. If they can’t treat their dog nicely, they’re definitely not going to treat you nicely.

My Fiance and I have two cats, they're not even ours, they're her cousin's, but he's young so we end up taking care of them. They're very well taken care of and I'm always good to them, but they've taught me that I dislike cats. Which I already kind of thought but wasn't sure until I had them. I think when anyone can take care of animals its a green flag but I also think not liking cats isn't a bad thing. I don't like cats at all. But I still care for them because they're living creatures. I just wish we didn't have them.

I think the last bit is unfair, especially what Jay said at 53:30. "That's the way it should be" as it relates to guys paying for everything. I'm not sure if she meant it like that cause it's one thing if the man keeps offering, but it's another to expect that as the everlasting norm. But, man... In all my relationships the woman seems to have the same mentality you guys spoke about briefly. Where her body and looks are her showing effort and should be consider "equal" to what I'm doing. A relationship where her putting on her $15 Forever21 dress and a $50 face of makeup is equivalent to me dropping $500 for concert tickets or $4000 on a trip. In all the relationships I've been in the last 10 or so years, I think I've been fully treated to a date maybe 3 total times. And as a human being just like you guys, we want to feel courted, treated, and taken care of too. Not just on our birthdays and holidays.

I agree with you actually! But in this context, my sister had been doing all the work and almost always being expected to pay so when she met a guy that made her feel special by taking her out, surprising her with concert tickets, etc my response of “that’s the way it should be” was meant to mean that creating a relationship is a two way street and both should put in the effort to make the other feel important, special, pay for things, or even do things that don’t cost anything. She hadn’t had that before so I was happy to hear she found it now and sees what that is like on a reverse flow instead of her putting in all the time, paying or being expected to.

With the paying for dates thing, I truly believe both parties should want to pay in full all the time. If you are not fighting to pay the bill, you do not like each other enough. This has always been a thing with my husband and I, even for the smallest things like getting drinks at the gas station; we'd fight to get our card into the card reader. Groceries and date nights are the same. It'd always end up with, "I'll get this one and you can get the next one." Then we'd fight about how this doesn't amount to what the other paid last time. But ofc that's because we're both aware of each others' backgrounds and are aware that money can always be used elsewhere. If you're with someone who is able to pay the bill everytime, go for it; no matter the gender of your s/o.
