Reminds me of that twilight zone episode "A nice place to visit". There a man 'dies' and wakes up in a world where he has unlimited access to beautiful women, wealth, good fortune - man's idea of what heaven is like. At the end of the episode he's so sick of it that he asks to be sent 'to the other place' (hell). Then it's revealed that this *is* the other place.

If by 'hell' one is talking about the final judgement, then it is the opposite of all that is God's good, the opposite of light, love, fellowship. Imagine choosing to exist in the dark confines of one's own ego alone for all eternity. From this perspective, annihilation would be an act of mercy.

An alchemical journey of the soul from the nigredo to the albedo via imaginatio. Pls consider a video leading to the rubedo. Always a pleasure listening to your insights, Mark. Thank you!

I think you underestimate Milton: if hell wasn't so tempting nobody would fall down there. Milton also shows how a hellish lifestyle undermines itself-"in every deep a lower deep".

yes, hell is REALLY boring; like a work meeting times infinity. but it's also eternally tortuous, which is important to remember.

Along with Dante and Blake, I would add Meister Eckhart as Sacred Guides. Have you read him?

I’m reminded of the phenomenon of an ant mill where ants get trapped in an endless loop following a pheromone trail that loops back on itself. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ant_mill
