This is probably the only game where playing with randoms its super fun, 90% of players are always very commited to the role and communicate, help or even salute you

I have yet to find a lobby where it did not fill as soon as I walked over to my pod, and to be honest I love jumping on with randoms. I’ve had the absolute best times and funniest moments.

I love Helldivers 2 and I love playing it! I play solo about half the time not because I prefer solo play but because about half the time your team of randos is aggravating and usually they run off solo anyway! Now….when I’m on with my friends or players I’ve ended up adding as friends it’s absolutely amazing

i have 150 hours playing solo and i had fun like most of the times but since they changed spawns to make it harder for solo players its legit swetfest...

I’m new. I like to solo so I can improve much faster. I don’t want to be carried all the way to level 100. It’s definitely not designed around solo play. It’s doable, it’s just not fun. The squid cities taking 15 minutes to kite and deturd is proof enough.

I’d rather play with someone like you than someone that forces everyone to hurry or play a certain way. Try support roles while you learn the game. Like gas or fire. Support pack. If you’re on console turn off cross play. Pc players can be elitist pricks

Elitist people are rude. I can understand frustration if you know how the game works and are asking your team to help work as a team but they don’t so you all lose then sure it gets annoying. But some people are just jerks

This game is a genuine masterpiece, don’t hesitate. It’s the most constant, pure FUN that I’ve had since Halo broke into the scene and shook things up 20+ years ago. Couple that with a very reasonable price entry point and constant FREE updates and this is hands down GOTY with very little competition for that title. You’ll also LYFAO playing this, so many spontaneous and dynamically created moments that happen as a result of great design as opposed to being scripted. You’ll also have the most exhilarating final moments while waiting for the drop ship to pick you up as everything has become an absolute clusterfuck and it’s just a matter of hunkering down and getting through this so that at least one of you makes it out after a tough mission. The amount of times this happens makes you appreciate just how well designed this game is.

Started playing a week ago, strictly solo. At level 15 doing 6 difficulty and I don’t feel like playing anymore. The sample grind is just not fun. 40 minute sessions for 7 common 5 rare and 2 uranium feels bad. Especially if the map you did was a slog of back to back patrols and breaches. I find deep rock galactic to be more fun as a solo player. The mining grind feels fluid, apart of the game. Samples is a race against time. Escaping patrols and breaches or else you have to deal with draining the precious timer with useless fights. So your build is based around speed not fun. I don’t feel like improving to grind higher difficulties when the grind itself is kind of boring. 40 minutes is too long and tedious and the 12 minute maps as a solo player have very little time to gather samples. I ended up grinding the 12 minute squid maps for 2 super uranium a run and it took 2 runs to get sick of it. In deeprock it was fun mastering the game solo then playing with randoms to carry. But for some reason even with more guns and options in helldivers I find myself not wanting to play at all. I think they should add a solo mode. Same hp, damage, enemy count etc. just 30% less patrols and 30% more time between breaches. When it snowballs the game just feels like a lot of effort for little gain.

Is the experience playing with randoms on lower difficulties like Vermintide 2 and Darktide? As in it's pretty annoying because a lot of time higher level players in those games just want to rush to the end, ignoring any enemies and leaving new players behind.

It's a coin toss. Sometimes high levels want to play low levels to help teach and let newbies play with fun toys. But other times yes, exactly, they yell at new players for playing like new players when it's super serious business

@@saintwaffles Hmm okay, I was worried about that. I was hoping it would be like Deep Rock Galactic where even high level players mostly want to stick together. Perhaps it's also because of the mission structures in Deep Rock, not many mission types allow other players to rush ahead.

@skinscalp222 the map is open, so often times people will go run off and do their own thing, it still helps the group but it can definitely be less fun, especially if the person has more confidence than skill and is wasting resources.

The match making is very good, so you can always find random players to play with, which is still a blast. You can even do solo missions but it is much harder solo as it's not built for that. But typically I'd say yes, it's so worth it especially on sale

I feel like I can't play this game *unless* I know someone personally who also plays this game. All my friends work different jobs at different times of the day, so it's hard to know when any of us have time to game with each other. And also none of them have played this game or even shown interest in it. The only game that could give me a similar (but not the same) experience while playing solo, is Enlisted. The consolation for playing by yourself is that you command your own team of AI squadmates that you can switch to at any time. Of course, the AI is not perfect and the only time they get kills when they have direct line of sight or detect when someone is shooting at them. But having them there to offer support, lay down fire or even take the bullets for you, makes me forget I'm playing by myself sometimes. If Helldivers' devs can find a way to implement an AI teammate or a support squad (strategem) that can follow you, is tough enough to hold their own (in moderation) against a hoarde of enemies and smart enough to use strategy in combat situations while navigating these hellscapes, then I think I'll have a good and balanced time playing solo. I would play with randoms, but I don't know. I might try. Maybe. We'll see.

ok so HOW hard is solo? i want to play solo because its easier to get the bearings for me. i find playing with friends or others is a distraction when im still familiarizing myself with the mechanics.

It's actually very customized. With 10 difficulty you can choose how hard you want it to be. I regularly solo the hardest difficulties. But I think for the average player soloing level 6 should be doable and still fun. But because there is a difficultty slider with tons of levels you can really make it as easy or hard as you want.

I played d1 and d2 solo. When you’re alone your runs don’t vary like they would with other players. you quickly notice every map is randomly generated with the same few POIs, nests, bases etc like No Mans Sky. The game got repetitive for me after a few days. I think most people that solo have played in groups for months and are just looking for a challenge. It doesn’t feel like it’s designed for solo play. Check out deeprock galactic. It has a solo mode. And if you ever feel like playing with randoms, the community is a lot less toxic.

You gain ranks as you level up in the sense that you get different titles. But it does not have ranks in the sense of like bronze, silver, gold like you would see in competitive games, if that is what you are looking for
