There are two kinds of persons in China, Hua chenyu and others. He can sing, he can compose, he can perform, he can play instruments(and even play the role of instrument😂) He can sing emotional songs like " I am what i am""dear friend";he can make audience crazy by his rock songs, he can draw pictures about all feelings in the world, his music shows his philosophy.....the most important one is that he is brave, he isn't afraid of others' opinions just do what he wants to do.Imagine in China, such a conservative country....(as a Chinese, i know how uneasy this guy is.....and how people in china misunderstand and hate him) Music is his way to connect to the world,I hope the world can be more gentle to him..Thank you for your great reaction ,i really hope more people outside china know this guy😊 Please check his "I really want to love the world"or " Mad House" or "7 personalities","god tree". these are all good songs

To fully understand this song, you need to read the Chinese Classic Novel "Journey to the West" (西遊記). It is a novel written by Wu Cheng'en (吳承恩) in the 16th century during the Ming Dynasty. The novel is an account of the pilgrimage of the Tang Dynasty Buddhist monk called Xuanzang (玄奘). He travelled to the west (Central Asia and India) to obtain the Buddhist sacred texts (sutras). During his journey, the monk Xuanzang (玄奘) was escorted by three protectors who helped him as atonement for their own sins. The three protectors are Sun Wukong (孫悟空. The Monkey King. This is the mythical monkey figure this song is all about), Zhu Ba Jie (豬八戒. This is the mythical pig figure), and Sha Wujing (沙悟淨 or 沙僧. He was originally a general in heaven). In addition to the three protectors, Xuanzang (玄奘) was given a white steed to ride on (The White Dragon Horse, also known as Bai Long Ma 白龍馬). This song, Qi Tian (齊天), is a soulful cry of Sun Wukong (孫悟空, the Monkey King) for freedom and the atonement of his sins. Until his sins are completely forgiven and his freedom granted, he cannot escape the palm of the Buddha, which to him, is bigger than heaven and earth. The Golden Fillet around his head, which he cannot remove, is the magic headband designed to reign in his unruly, rebellious nature. Whenever he gets out of line, Xuanzang (玄奘) can make the headband constrict and cause Sun Wukong (孫悟空) tremendous pain. This is how Xuanzang (玄奘) keeps Sun Wukong (孫悟空) in line and under control. The rap parts of the song perfectly depict the chaos and violence during all the battles that he fought to protect Xuanzang (玄奘) from harm. I hope this little explanation helps you all understand the background and gain a better appreciation for the song, which is phenomenal. On a side note, the name of the song, Qi Tian (齊天), is rather oddly translated to "Equal to Heaven". Qi Tian (齊天) is normally used in Chinese culture as a form of blessing or to describe the wealth of a person. For example, you would say that a person is so rich that his wealth reaches up to the heaven, or that somebody's ambition is so high that it reaches up to the heaven, or that a mountain is so high that it reaches up to the heaven. The idea is to convey grandeur, something so majestic that it rises up so high that it touches heaven.

I happen to think Hua Hua (his nickneme) is a musical genius. His capacity to know exactly how to compose and arrange is I think unmatched. In most of his songs he has at least two parts...some more,,,some just one style he follows through. His music is therefore exciting to discover as you never know which chocolate in the box you're going to get. (my momma says anyways). ha. He also write amazing words to song. He is a deep thinker and he is fearless on stage. There is one song he did in a contest early on that is called 'Cancer.' He does nothing but makes sounds to the music that express the feelings of having Cancer. There is one song that will break your heart called The Saddest Song, which he didn't write but sings it like he did. He is not afraid on stage. Period. One of my favorite songs, a masterpiece in my opinion is called Nunchucks. He did this song in a Contest in China called I AM Singer 2018. This song has a bit of a cultural background. Qi Tian, the name of the song is part of the title of a very famous character from the classic Journey to the West, and this song basically references the character’s story and thoughts/reflections. Qi Tian Da Sheng (Great Sage Equal to Heaven, where Qi Tian = equal to heaven) is the title of the Monkey, who once fought against the entire heaven. His weapon is a staff, which was also referenced in the song. He was later defeated by Buddha, who confined him under Wu Zhi mountain (5 finger mountain, transformed from the hand of the Buddha) for 500 years. He was only let out to protect the monk travelling to the west (India) to retrieve buddhist scriptures, and was sort of mentally enslaved by a golden band he wore on his head (the monk could activate it anytime, and would basically give him an agonising headache)

Thanks for returning to Hua Hua!! He's not crazy, lol, just super talented and versatile. He transitioned between a ballad, rock screams, rapping to rock music, and using his voice as an instrument. The ballad and rapping shows the internal and external struggles of the Monkey King, as portrayed in the movie. I think he won an award for this song. Glad you liked it!

Hi! Glad you're back to HuaHua and very much enjoyed your reaction, Qi Tian has been multi awarded every year since its release. Hua's rap is the only rap I like, as he says it's rock not RnB and always with deep lyrics and nothing trivial. He was already an awesome performer 2 years ago and of course got even better. I wish you would react next to 7 Personalities in Singer 2020 or at New Years Gala on Hunan TV, this song is a masterpiece and his performance is mind blowing, links in reply to this comment. I agree with you, on all accounts. His, is the only Rap, I connect to and really like. At first I thought why one style and not the others. And I’m sure for me it’s the lyrical and melodic balance that’s so influential. I also love that he embraces different, I love different. His vocals are incredibly haunting and soulful and pull you into him. And because of that he appears to be so grounded, not influenced by others or his surroundings. He is his own man, and doesn’t need others for him to cope. We need more of Hua Chenyu to make this world a better and more beautiful place. ❤️❤️🌹🌹💙💙🦋🐨🐨🇦🇺

He did composed two pieces with full English lyrics - “Why Nobody Fights” and “For Forever”. He doesn’t need to sing in English to be more recognised. It’s more gratifying if global recognition of his talent was from his body of work in his own language. The lyrics and the story behind them were so inspiring and deep. ‘Equal to Heaven’ was related to the epic story of Monkey King (Sun Wukong as his name) fighting against evil forces , seeking truth and Buddhist scriptures in a classical novel called Journey to the West. At the beginning of the story, he called himself ‘Great Sage Equal to Heaven’ leading a group of monkeys located in Flower and Fruit Mountain and dared to challenge the authority of Jade emperor of heaven. Then he got defeated and trapped under Five-Finger Mountain transforming from fingers of Buddha. After 500 years, Tang Monk of Tang Dynasty came to save him, so Monkey King and other 2 guys helped Tang Monk fight against evil forces , seek truth and finally obtained the Buddhist scriptures. It was a really moving and inspiring story.

This song is about the legend of the Monkey King, who was rebellious at the begining but finally tamed by the Bhudda and achieved enlightment. So the tension and the drama in this song makes more sense once you learnt the background story.

Just take a look to Equal to heaven from Come sing with me. That is a Show, where normal people (like you and me) battle for singing a Duett with Hua Hua (btw Dimash was at this Show too). For example there were a garbage truck driver or a scientist, who wanted to sing with Hua Chenyu. I like this version, when 3 contestants sing it alternately

Ich bin tatsächlich neidisch auf die vielen Hua-Songs, die du noch entdecken kannst. :) Er hat locker 50 großartige Songs. Falls du Probleme mit geblockten Videos von The Singer oder The Next bekommst, bleiben immer noch seine Mars-Konzerte vor allem Shenzhen 2017 und Shenzhen 2016. Du solltest sie auf jeden Fall uncut mit englischen Untertiteln schauen, da er sich gerne mit seinen Fans unterhält und sie teilhaben lässt. Das macht echt Spaß!

Interestingly, you use the same word "serious" when you react to this song and Zhou Shen's Big Fish. But you are so right about this because both songs are their first performance on the Singer stage. Hua ranked No. 1 with Qi Tian in 2018. Zhou Shen got second place in his first show, which is awesome. Guess who took the first place? Hua Chenyu. I like both talented young artists and hope they could sing a duet one day. Love how everyone always does the hand thing when he raps. I do think maybe he should focus on trying to change up his stance and hand movement when he raps because it is always so similar but that’s literally the only criticism I have of him xD

Like others said, Hua already IS at the top having won The Singer 2020. He is a brand Ambassador (represents many brands of different items, he appears and helps to promote the brand. I think, if possible, try to listen and react to songs from The Singer 2018 & 2020 where he won the competition and he has worked hard for over 7 years and focused on singing his way. He can change different styles and even his face will look different within the same song and IMHO, the best version of BULLFIGHTING is in The Singer 2020. On this years show they were all songs he composed and has a lyricist who helps to convey what concepts he is singing about. There are videos of his concerts and they are nothing but amazing.
