7:18 I think one big issue is, Item Rarity scales your drops waaaay better than increasing difficulty of content. Running T10 with 100% rarity vs T15+ with 0% shouldn’t be so drastically in favor of the T10.

So thats why i only have 2divs by lvl87 lol. As a new POE player, i feel like im playing with my hands and feet tied up not knowing all these secret strats. Ill watch some of these farm videos with a stacked party full of MF gear players and they get full bags of loot every map. 50exalts. 10divs. Etc. funny how i feel like im playing a completely different game then them.

That's because you are. If we played 20 hours a day with a full group of internet friends working harder than NASA does to land a rover on Mars then yes, it would seem like a different game, life, experience all together. My advice is to just play at your own pace. I picked up EVERY single blue or better item and saved 1.4 million gold and have steadily building my magic find gear. It's not a race, enjoy building your wealth as you go, slowly, and you will always enjoy your time. "The richest man is not he with more, but the man who wishes for less."

@ light radius is super useful for a ton of builds, allowing you to see more of the map. Not a must have stat, just QoL. Charm slots on belts should be implicit, but also there’s no point to charms at all outside of the gold charm. Any immunity charm won’t stop the effect the first time, making it completely useless. You won’t ever bleed or be frozen a second time while it’s active.

@ there are charms that give you bonus resistances, charms that make u immune to slow, poison one is good because there is no build up on poison. Do you just not care for the extra 25% perfect resistance it’s HUGE for bosses like the chimera two have multiple rez charms , or having cold res and slow immunity for act 1 fights

@@ivanesparza9246 You do know they do nothing for when you are capped resistances already? thats the first thing to do when you get to map, making all the resistance charms useless. They give no Max Res bonus, useless. Poison charm, useless, because it never activates until you are already poisoned, same with the slow charm. Why would you want immunity that doesn't break the initial thing that caused it for only 3seconds? you aren't gonna break a stun or poison in three seconds and get re-slowed or poisoned. It's USELESS. Act 1 you are meant to have the most power, a 3slot belt in act 1 is the dumbest thing to give it any use, you shouldnt have endgame gear in act1, and even still its useless. 25% res after you get hit for 3-4seconds is not going to save your life lmao.

It's horrible. It was NEVER a good stat. Who wants to build a MF set??? It's hard enough to build a damage/bossing/mob clearing set.... It pollutes the stat pool and RUINS good rolls. I had a piece two days ago roll near perfect except for a low HP roll and "MF" roll. Had to trash the thing. I can't keep something on my toon that has MF when I don't care, I'm trying to kill things efficiently, not imperceivably affect the drops...

I'm switched to magic find on most of my gear, missing some resistances (they're in the 50s-60s), but you don't need them on T15s or anything in this game I've encountered yet. Also I think you could get magic find on all pieces and have max resistances pretty easily. If it's mandatory (I think it is) just another part of gear optimization

so my problem magic find is two fold. the first problem is that magic find is balanced stat in solo play because the stat doesn't multiply in effectiveness. that is why in last epoch, they don't have magic find as a stat but they have something called "Circle of fortune" which is a faction that gives magic find for playing SOLO only. the second problem with magic find is that it makes all gear that is not with magic find stat useless. it means you can have really nice pieces of gear with perfect ideal stats but it is not worth using because it hurts you in the long run. it also artificially removes 1 prefix or suffix from every item meaning that even though you can have 6 affixes, in reality, you can only have 5 because one of them has to be magic find. Those are my two problems with the stat.

@@dodang_9147 It's worth mentioning that Circle of Fortune drops can be shared with your party members if they are with you at the time, though they can never be traded via the Market (or beyond those with you when it dropped.) so it's not just a solo play thing.

Rarity is cool, what the game is missing is good guaranteed drop with a challenge guarding it. Overcoming a difficult boss and having it drop a bunch of blues is like going to work a 9-5 and your paycheck being rng.

There is also the issue/discussion of how substantial the trading site is for progression. Without it, it is almost impossible to get rolls on gear naturally through the drop rate in-game only. Especially for non veteran players.

After nearly 100 hours, getting and improving quality items/rolls on items is like finding a needle in many haystacks and I've found the game to be more frustrating than rewarding in the power progression sense, so I've stopped playing altogether. Our characters should feel a noticeable difference from the loot itself, not just by using higher level gems or unlocking more sockets.

Honestly they need to find a way to make levels feel more powerful in general. I used a level 28 staff till level 45 just cause the stats on that blew anything else out of the water. And its like that for everythibg i have.

It should be about player choice. If I wanna sacrifice some DPS for better chance at some currency or item I should be able to. I don't have time to no life this game or be streamer who gets gifted items and currency. I have it on one piece of gear and the gear has been better and I've been able to build up a decent amount of currency to do my upgrades when I need them. I know this will go away cause all the major KZbinrs and streamers for this game are gonna get it removed.

If it was a "Increased amount of items dropped" stat I'd probably pay attention to it, but right now I focus more on everything else. I'd be curious if it matters if you really crank it up to the moon, maybe it's worth it then? To me it didn't feel like it did much during the campaign

Bad. The stat is bad period for the genre. It's such a silly concept. Here is a game where the whole concept is to farm for gear, so your character becomes more powerful and farms better. Well magic find goes, "nah, you're going to use worse gear or play builds that can get away with worse gear so that you can farm better and when you get better gear? Don't put it on because you'll lose your magic find, so it's going to be glorified trophies in your stash." The genre killed this stat and GGG brought it back for god knows why.

I think it should probably go and that's due to the pro/cons of it being there. Cons: 1) It's not viable to have for some builds because they can't forgo other stats. 2) It messes with the trade economy of the game. 3) It can be used as an excuse/explanation for the low amount of good drops. Pros: 1) Some people find it fun. Seems like removing it and upping the base drop rates would be the best move. But then again I basically just play SSF anyway since I don't really party with anyone and I don't do any trading., so maybe I'm just missing something.

The danger there is that then strength would do too much boosting both life and speed, and all the while not really changing the issue of certain classes being a dominant meta (such a change will only move around what classes are likely at the top of that meta).

simple sploution - have 2 sets of gear. looting gear and a boss/midmax gear (whuch you found by incresasing your loot). Awesome content!

The easiest way would be to give a lot more from towers, they are giving pitifully low amount. 1 or 2 gear pieces can easily offset like 5-6 towers. Also remove ability to have 2 or sometimes 3x rarity on once piece of gear. Or unique shield that can get like 300 rarity.... stuff like that is broken as F.

it just needs to be removed. it messes with the game in multiple ways (gearing/economy/playstyle/builds/etc). you take the most op build and modify the gear for this 'magic find' stat, farm for 100-200 hours and you have everything to leap straight to the top of end game through the gear drops found or gear purchased via all the 'extra' currency found. this then hurts everyone who doesn't play the most op builds in this fashion. It needs to be removed entirely. end of story. ALSO, the 'miscellaneous' stat that lowers movement speed is a straight up hinderance to builds that run a specific armor type. These builds are literally starting in the negative. That's not a good feeling/thought/train of thought (and right now armor and most of these types of builds are underperforming so it's a double whammy).

Rarity will destroy build diversity. Energy shield with CI builds don't need life or chaos resist so they can stack rarity like crazy. Any build not using this can't stack the rarity as easily. Rarity should exist for the currency orbs, especially ssf, because we need to RNG slam a massive number of items to get something good. The build disparity is the big problem. Edit: What would be super nice for balance to help melee is if armor would add extra mitigation against aoe ground effects and boss slam damage. Otherwise armor just is also inferior to evasion and ES combos.

As of now I appreciate that the issues you talk about are able to be mitigated through the stats on your gear like Movement Speed or Stun Threshold (I'm assuming here this helps with the interrupts as well, but correct me if I'm wrong). Magic Find on items also gives players more agency, yet I get the notion as to how this feeds into the meta of what classes excel at endgame, etc. Thing for me that I bump up against here is the notion of hard baking some of these things, like no movement penalty on gear class, into the game as it takes away player agency in choosing how to negate these detriments, and in part flattens out the classes to be more similar in the end. A friction point of mine currently, as I'm in endgame, is I feel the pressure of not being able to run some of the good armor I get as I don't have the necessary stats for it, but I wouldn't want GGG to change that though as it's an intended design decision to put that pressure on me as a player. Sure, it was nice during the campaign when I could wear any better armor I found, but I appreciate the deeper in I go there's the need to differentiate my class from the other classes and choose what tradeoffs I face.

It is perfectly fine for it, they just have to determine what it should not apply to. For instance in d2 magic find did not effect your rune drop chance, players 8 and certain monster types did.

1. Add implicit +Magic find to heavy armors to make up for the loss of movement speed/clear speed. 2. Make other items that are VALUABLE not be affected by MF. In Diablo 2 you can go either low MF and have same chance on rare runes as someone running high MF. Making clear speed more important for rune drops. 3. I guess there is already a diminishing return mechanics on MF in PoE2 but I could be wrong.

In Diablo2, I would start by playing whatever character I like and gather MF items as I played. Once I had enough, I create a "runner" and farm uniques. Depending on what drops, I create a build based on that unique. This made playing a variety of builds fun and contributed greatly to the replayability of a dungeon crawler game. The problem is that today, people just farm currency so they can get the exact item they want for min/maxing. Farming money is called work. Not fun.

Rarity as an option is completely fine. Games are about choices, you can choose to add some rarity to some items OR go unga bunga full DPS. People who have massive amounts of time are always going to have more than others anyway. In PoE1 I have never seen a Mirror or a Mageblood, it has not held me back from completing all content. People need to stop watching streamers, they get a skewed view of what they think map drops should constantly be. As for SSF, that's their issue for playing that way.

80% of the value of this concept should be related to the difficulty of the content you're doing that's what all arpgs get wrong... Atm 80% of potential value for time in terms of loot is from the stat and it should be flipped that isn't even really an opinion. If it doesn't change it subverts the whole point of the endgame system and the difficulty it provides cause it's more efficient to run as low as possible while maintaining the most magic find and as fast as possible while gimping your stats for a stat that will just become mandatory for everyone... I’ve seen videos, streams, as well as personally with friends cleared the highest content with ease having some rarity. Is a build really gimped when a boss dies 0.5 seconds slower? No. 3) Nowhere did I say something was a streamer problem. I clearly said it’s the average players problem thinking every map should drop 3 div, 25 ex, a mirror and a mageblood.

I have some items which increases the percentage to find good stuff. Currently i have more then 25% and loot is crazy. I find alot of exalted orbs or epic items. Regarding unique items - i find a lot but usually never for my class. Flower shoes or staffs for my warrior are useless. Once i found an unique shield. I have 2 ideas: Unique items for your player class (and sinilar ones) only Or have an epic orb dropped which can give any item additional 2 or 3 buffs. That way your equipment used at that moment will be more valuable and you can choose to uograde a weapon or armor item.

Rolled a 170 rarity set yesterday and ran 2 hours of T15. Found on average 12 exalted per map and 2 raw div in 2 hours. It’s busted

I would love to see Magic find removed along with light radius. It was the same in D2. You had to stack MF while farming just to be competitive. And of course you could never keep up with the bots that ran high MF.

@@MrRhoidRage Because like already stated in the video. All this does is make items unreachable by regular players and inflate everything. I saw this way back in D2 same thing. Everything became artificially inflated by the power farmers. What were normal prices for them became very expensive for regular gamers. If you think that D2 or other ARPG's are not competitive then you must be playing solo self found ,not playing in voice chat groups or simply living under a rock.

@@Coltn3125 I am none of the 3 you mentioned. Close to SSF, minor sharing among friends. I just haven’t been brainwashed in to making everything competitive. You know how long it took to even get trading in PoE1? How about the fact that they run “races” alongside the regular leagues because they know most people aren’t playing an ARPG to sweat and flex on internet strangers. Only zoomers care about “competition” in such a game and it’s disgusting. Not everything is a competition my guy, slow down and do something with your life and you might come to the same conclusion some day.

@@Coltn3125 when it comes to competing in markets you're never going to catch up to, nor negate the reach of power farmers whether MF is in or out of the game. Their ability to dedicate tens of hours a day already puts them heaps above you and so is a nonstarter. Yes, it is a shame that this then locks many players from using trading to help their build or such, but it is what it is when you have players playing the game solely to play its economy. All this being said I think it's a healthy mindset to know you can't compete, nor should you try, and instead find your own avenues to have fun in the game instead of focusing on how some players may be ruining one aspect of it.

Magic find should not affect currency. Only the items. Item prices should drop over a league, not inflate the prices over time. So the wider, more casual player base can catch up quickly. Also, currently at higher tier of maps, Life and armor kinda sucks. This invalidates a HUGE portion of the builds for endgame. Combine it with 4 mandatory resistances and magic find, the meta kinda shapes itself...

I found this out too late, I didn’t think rarity mattered that much, I had some pieces. However I’m almost level 80 and I’ve maybe found 40 Ex, if that. I haven’t seen a single divine.

It's definitely worth it in the campaign. By act 2 I had 7 Reds. On act 3 I needed better stats. Only got 1 right before the final boss in the entire act. Milk it to the max until you can't survive imo.

its always about volume. is there a benefit of having a 500% increased chance of something sub 1% to drop? sure. is it better to spin the reel more often by farming 5x faster at base? id argue yes. mf is something u sprinkle in as long as it doesn't effect ur clear speed. upping the drop chance of something unbelievably low is in the realm of rounding error. but its nice to have

GGG said they wanted PoE2 to appeal to more casual gamers, but so far I fail to see how. From the chores of Trials to the punishing 15% xp loss on death, the hard cap on what you can do unless you have the perfect gear, the scam-friendly trading system, some combat design (like after death effects),… Now the magic find, only benefitting grinders. The only thing that has been eased for casual gamers is the passive skill tree (and atlas), which seems too little an effort to become casual-friendly. The one thing that was “casual” in PoE1, the crafting bench, has been removed. 🤔

I think you also need to account for building farming characters for the benefit of your other characters. I've taken to doing this - partly because I didn't take the time to farm with my monk, so I'm playing currency catch-up by using my witch. I'm finding that you can get away with weaker gear in favor of rarity find gear with the witch class since most of the work is done by minions.

I have +154% increase in rare items on my Sorcerous’ gear and well over 100 hours and I am insulted by the lack of items over ‘magic’ that I find. My Witch with +15 increase in rare items found has found way more quality loot in the 3 hours I’ve played her so what’s the deal GGG?

It seems to contradict in a way the philosophy that item drops should matter. Since baseline item drops are close to useless (similar to POE1), the most important stat becomes rarity, so you can ignore all drops and just farm currency and buy what you want. I think that in addition to removing rarity from items, they should also remove all the useless stats (light radius, i’m looking at you), and add baseline movement speed to all boots, so item drops would matter. For me, the rarity issue made me quit the league and I’m trying SSF

I think if you get to the point where the game isn't roughly equal in outcomes for the tradeoff of losing stats for that rarity % then the stat shouldn't exist.

at lvl 94 i feel like i stalled out any upgrade is 25+ divs farming all day even at 200 rarity it takes too long to find anything good.

This wouldn't be a discussion if PoE2 gives us some better craft system, where you can re-roll specific stats (like D4). I have 120 hours in this game and all my gear are traded ones. Never got a good item to equip myself.

I'm in a bit above 80hrs and this is only true if you perfect rolls AND best in slot. Which is - and always was in ANY game - a months if not YEARS long endeavor. How it should be if achievements should actually mean anything at all.

They should keep rarity on gear and just cap it at 100% similar to how resistances are capped at 75%

New World had this same problem with "Luck" on gear. In order to get better or more desirable gear you needed a luck set. In doing so you would either be at a DPS loss or not ideal for PVP in which case it's moot. Luck or Magic-Find should be a secondary stat allocated passively not actively on armor (if it is used at all).

That was basically how Inquisitor Martyr solved it (and +% xp) could only show up in the 'secondary' stat pool on items, meaning it never competed with things like life, crit, damage, or other primary stats.

I think it's okay as long as it's only kept on a few uniques like ventors, or uniques with significant downsides, but I think it needs to be killed overall. Since I realized how overpowered it is, I just went back to playing spark and farming maps with ~140 mf, and ive earned 5x what i earned the first 2 weeks in the last 24 hours. Not much point to playing endgame with a non-mf build

This isnt crafting, its gambling. Im in tier 15+ mapping and in my entire play through on this character ive had a total of 3 hits when crafting. Its near impossible to get god rolls on a bow and quiver. I now refuse to engage with gatcha crafting. Deterministic options should not be locked behind top 1% content or multiple divines. The only thing that can fix this inflated economy right now is a reset with drops changes.

Total first world streamer problems. Don't care. Need magic find. I dont play video games for a living. When i farm a map, do you know what i see? BLUE ITEMS. NOTHING BUT BLUE ITEMS. I am so sick of streamers ruining everything because they think theyve got the right damn opinion. You don't. You play for 17 hours a day. I play for 2 at most.

More of everything means more latitude to try different things within a run, if you make a mistake, you are not stuck with it for the whole game. I hated that in the first week or so, you had to be right the first time, no matter what because you didn't have options.

Magic find / Rarity should not take up a slot from combat prefixes and suffixes. I think it should be a separate enchanting that doesn't contend with combat stats. Trading to me is cheating.

I got 3 legendaries 2 Weps and a helm at the very start of the game before both patches all totally useless. Now I try with magic find and Zero drops it's a waste of a stat slot.

Magic Find or increased rarity should just be left for Solo Self Found mode. Item rarity destroys the auction site but is perfect for Solo Self Found as an incentive for players who won't get help from others.

GIVE PLAYER AGENCY TO CRAFTING!!!! It fixes this problem of player's overpricing things as well as a plethora of other things. GGG wants to attract new players but just like the original they're balancing it to challenge and slow strreamers and no lifers Also they should allow currency exchange through the game not other players. Like it's so frustrating to blatantly see them trying to slow you down. As a casual and new player this feels so oppressive i can only imagine a few months down the line when I'm where streamers and no-lifers are this will feel even worse!! If i haven't quit already

What do you mean increased rarity? Almost all the uniques are 1ex on the tradesite except a few meta uniques and boss-specific. I don't know are how people complaining about game being hard or no loot, I'm coming from poe1 don't see much difference. Once you know what you're doing and doing it optimally it's really easy. Only the campaing was slow, but once you learn some tricks it can be also smoother

From a long time PoE player where trading is part of the game I can see the issue or the balance problem with this attribute. But I also know people that play in coop(online) were they Never trade at all? Or solo-self found.This players love it.(So yea, this is def not PoE 1 :)) and a totally new game for sure, with new player base. So even if it is pretty clear were this video is leaning. I dont think it will be a huge problem if they balancing it correctly were it is now alittle on the "Off" side, to put it a little kind. But hey, it´s early access and the game been out for like 3-4 weeks. :)) Think we sometime forget this...

Many of the design ideas in the game are just not fun. Its not fun playing for 8 hrs and getting zero gear you are interested in. The trade system becomes mandatory to progress and keep.the game from feeling like a slog. But whata even worse is that Magic Find stacking always feels bad. When you stack it you hate that it feels mandatory, and if you dont use magic find you feel like the game just doesnt reward you.

More rarity is just gating the trade. Unless you get super lucky get a 1:1000000000 piece of gear that goes for 100 divine orbs, I just dont see how a new player can come in and do well without spending 20 hours a day playing.

its not. if rarity were removed tomorrow and the market reset, the market would still end up back to where it is now. The rich players who have 20 hours per day to play will still be rich. The poor players who have 2 hours a day to play will still be poor. This is the result of the genre itself.

I think item rarity is kind of broken. I have a character with over 80% from uniques that barely gets uniques. I just started a new hc witch to try something new out and I got almost all the act 1 uniques with only having to re clear 1 area. With only 8% item find on a pair of boots...
