I love how Ryan always talks about capacity and gives analysis of any new coaster opening. Really helpful because no other channel covers capacity, or if they do, it’s just an estimate. Just another reason why Ryan is one of my favorite coaster channels.

It's a clear grand slam by Dorney and CF, in my opinion. A unique, thrilling crowd-pleaser that has no peers in the area and is made by one of the most reliable companies out there. And, from what the people at Dorney are saying, this ride is going to be the centerpiece of a heavily-themed area and the start of a new vision at the park, which is extremely exciting. And the fact the haunt in the area is gonna be like a prequel story to the coaster this Halloween is very exciting as well!

Apparently the park will slowly start theming more areas and Cedar Fair is looking to specifically put big investments into Dorney because of their market area and the numbers that Hershey has been pulling in. They are apparently trying to bring Dorney closer to a tier 1 property within the next 5-10 years.

I was the original rides lead in charge of opening Dr Diabolicals Cliffhanger at Fiesta Texas. With 3 attendants checking restraints, we commonly dispatched a train every 80-90 seconds, constantly achieving 40-44 dispatches per hour. (Nice prediction Ryan) The trains are easy to load quickly, taking under a minute from park to dispatch, but I do hope Dorney takes lessons from us on both operation style, and loose article policies. Feel free to ask any questions about fiesta Texas operations as I worked 14 different attractions at the park :)

Im assuming that dispatches will take longer, probably 100-120 second intervals, at Dorney, do to the park using IROC. My home park is Valleyfair and while still being very fast, dispatches are slower than parks that do not use Iroc. Although Renegade, the GCI, usually hits 27-30 cycles, which is very close to the min interval. So ride crews at the smaller Cedarfair parks can still be very fast

I find it interesting that every B&M dive coaster ordered by a Cedar Fair park so far has had orange track, just different colored supports. Aside from that, this ride seems to be a perfect fit for a park the size of Dorney, and I'm sure it'll definitely become one of the most, if not the most popular ride in the park when it opens.

Iv'e been working in FVD to design this Immelmann. The only way I could make it exit to the right with a clockwise roll was to sustain subtle negative Gs throughout the element. I'm super intrigued how this element will actually feel. Every other Immelmann I've seen crosses back over the track of the valley as it exits. Thanks for pointing out the difference in the lowering floor. i didn't notice that. I always learn new things from your videos, which keeps me coming back. You put in a lot of work, and it pay off with top tier content for nerds like me.

This is a fantastic addition to their lineup. The extra long queue lines will come in handy during their Haunt event - where the park reaches full capacity most nights. Hopefully this will also draw people back down to ride Possessed as well.

I honestly think that Iron Menace is perfect for Dorney. I mean, they needed a coaster anyways, but I like the decision they made to make it a dive coaster, while also making sure it's new and fresh. This makes it perfect for both enthusiasts and normal riders.

Agreed. Dorney is closest to me, but I often don't go because while it has nice coasters, it's grown stale over the years since it's been Thunderhawk, Possessed, Talon, Hydra, and Steelforce for so long. Like Ryan, I never got to ride Stinger bc it was always down. Hopefully, this is a good start, and Dorney becomes good competition

The more videos I watch, the more I’m on board for it. It COULD be Dorney’s signature coaster if they lean into the ghostly industrial theming. PA, specifically Allentown, is unique for its steel mill history. Having a roller coaster that not only is big and intimidating, but also pays homage to state history, is a chance to make a ride truly unique to the park, and not just another dive machine plopped to be trendy or sit in Valravyn or Griffons shadow.

I think it's definitely a good fit for Dorney. I don't see capacity being an issue. They never run 3 trains on Steel Force, and their other coasters are just fine with 2 trains.

Ryan! Love your videos! You're my go to coaster guy for sure! So I've gone to Dorney my whole life. I live 15 minutes from the park and have season passes. I agree with you that its a great fit for the park. In high school, the debate was "Hershey vs Dorney", and its pretty safe to say theres no comparison anymore. Us locals have gotten used to the idea that Dorney will never be world class. All the local news stations covering it are making it out to be this huge big scary thing, but were all excited to get anything at this point. Now if only Hercules lasted long enough for an RMC.... because a few years ago, RMC vehicles were spotted near the park, but it amounted to nothing.

Im excited for this!! I live about 35 minutes away from dorney and we have season passes. But honestly we rarely use them cause we also have season passes at Great Adventure...which is about an hour away from me but has alwaus been worth the extra drive time. This is much needed!!

Based on uniqueness alone, this was a great choice for Dorney Park. There isn’t a single dive coaster in the northeast, and the previous closest dive coaster to the area was Griffon at BGW. The being said, would love to see a dive coaster further north, maybe at Darien Lake?

As my former home park, what everyone should know is (sometime in the 80s) the park moved beyond a small regional park and into an international park. When Harris Weinstein took over his goal was to make the park the Disney of the Northeast. He injected tremendous capital into the park. This is when Wildwater Kingdom, Laser, and Hercules opened. Might not seem like much now but in 1986 to have a steel double looping coaster was a big deal. Additionally, Wildwater Kingdom was one of the first waterparks in the country. And lastly Hercules was a massive, highly unique terrain wooden coaster with a whopping 157ft first drop (impressive even by todays standards.) At this point especially after Hercules the park was getting alot of attention. The park was on the path to becoming a mega park. Its probably why CF took interest. Dorney and Hershey were major rivals at this time. CF at the beginning did have the park on the right path but something happened after Hydra opened in 2005. It was evident the companys direction for the park had changed and major investments stopped. Its been a good 15 years of neglect to Dorney but with the right decisions and investments made, the park can get back on the right path. And with Jessica in charge I'm confident in that; just by looking at her track record. This dive coaster is 100% the right investment. Dorney is sandwiched between 2 massive parks (GADV & Hershey). The key to bring in guests is to make investments in the park that are unique and make them stand out from the competition surrounding them. And Iron Menace is the first step in that process. I would not be surprised if we see another new coaster at this park within the next 2-3 years.

I am excited. The only other coaster of this type I've ridden is Valravn, and I loved it. This one doesn't look quite as impressive, but no midcourse is a positive. And plus, DP is much closer to me than CP is, so I will definitely be riding this often.

Having ridden Emperor dozens of times at this point, if this thing rides even remotely similar through the layout the pacing should be immaculate. Capacity should be totally fine too, as Emperor is able to eat through full queues without much issue.

I think this is cool for Dorney Park ~ it’s nice that Cedar Fair is investing in a major coaster like this for one of their lower tier parks. I love B&M coasters and I love B&M dive coasters. I’m sure people will love this ride and I know that these rides always perform well. I’m sure that this being a smaller B&M dive coaster, this wouldn’t be very expensive, so hopefully Cedar Fair will save more money to invest in this park later on.

I'm excited for this ride and think it will be a great addition. That back area of the park has been a ghost town for years now. Steel Force draws a lot more riders than Possessed seems to anymore but I'd say that's because it has a lot more of a wow factor and is ultimately a much better ride. I was really hoping Dorney would add another wooden coaster from GCI as they could really use a newer wood coaster. But I've never been on a Dive coaster so I'm excited to give Iron Menace a go. Plus I live less than an hour away from the park so I can visit whenever I like.

My deal scenario with this is it brings in more guests, more revenue, etc. And let's see their fair. See how good this park could get which that makes them more willing to spend money on it which leads them to 5 years from now or so, taking the old dinosaurs alive plot and turning that into a new area with some flat rides, restaurants and hopefully a new wooden coaster coaster or multi launch of some kind maybe one similar to copperhead strike or the intimum straddle coasters

Would a Gerstlauer Infinity be a better fit for Dorney? Probably. Would the GP think it's too similar to Fahrenheit or Shellraiser? That's probably true, too. A B&M mini dive was likely their best option to differentiate from Wildcat's Revenge and Jersey Devil. And it's a solid theme, so the merch should be fantastic. Just wish it could have an extra turn by the train's tunnel to boost the track length to 2,500 feet, then it might be better than Emperor. Can't wait for this extremely overdue addition to open!

Dorney can draw guests from sizable population centers like NYC and Philadelphia, Wilmington and more; it's a park with a lot of potential if it's given some TLC. For that reason, I'm elated to see Dorney getting some attention from Cedar Fair. They have little land to work with and this is one of the most thrilling options they could have picked with their current spacial limitations, while providing a ride experience that's so far unique in the northeast. It's an excellent choice. For future additions, a compact wooden coaster from the Gravity Group would be a really solid selection to further flesh out their lineup.

For a park with the typical crowd level of Dorney, ~800 riders per hour should be plenty sufficient. Emperor gets roughly 600 per hour in practice and even on the busiest days rarely exceeds a 30 minute wait, so I expect the same will likely be true of Iron Menace. Given that I live on the west coast, I don't know that the ride makes Dorney worth a special trip for me, but it does make it a must visit park next time I do a trip including Pennsylvania and should be a winner with the public.

I don’t think a dive coaster is ever a bad addition. But to me outside of the drop they are all pretty tame and don’t give me the want or need to ride multiple times. Usually ride once and then go ride something better a bunch of times and forget I ever rode it
