Loved seeing the foals when they were a little younger. Lieke was having fun playing with the "snake". At one point Lianne looked as if she were trying to figure out how to get the halter on. Jonah's mother is quietly protective.. She makes sure everyone knows she is there without making a big deal of it. It was nice to have a look back at the Blondie's. Hope you have a good day. I watched a little of the Friesian's dressage competition today. So beautiful.

Another lovely video! The foals are so cute and curious. It is very interesting how the horses all communicate with each other. I think they communicate better than lots of people do. You are so very good at knowing what they are thinking and why they are doing what they do. I love the way you and your horses respect and love one another. I have a question about chestnuts. Why do they have them and do they serve an important purpose for the horses? You know, I grew up on a farm and we usually had one or two horses. At the time I was quite young and I loved them so much. I thought I knew a lot about them but I am learning that I didn't. You have taught me very much since I began watching your videos. Thank you for that and for sharing your beautiful horses with me. Have a wonderful day! Nita Parks Arizona USA
@FriesianHorses5 жыл бұрын
Thank you 🤗 It's a lot to explain. That's why I copied a wiki text... The chestnut, also known as a night eye,[1] is a callosity on the body of a horse or other equine, found on the inner side of the leg above the knee on the foreleg and, if present, below the hock on the hind leg. It is believed to be a vestigial toe, and along with the ergotform the three toes of some other extinct Equidae.[2][3] Darren Naish dissents from this belief, noting that the chestnut is "not associated with the metacarpus or metatarsus, the only places where digits occur."[4] Chestnuts vary in size and shape and are sometimes compared to the fingerprints in humans.[1] For purposes of identification some breed registries require photographs of them among other individual characteristics.[1] However, because chestnuts grow over time and horse grooms often peel or trim off the outer layers for neatness, their appearance is subject to change.

Its very different if they are black or not. Most geldings turn a little brown, lucky you! Most stallions stay black all year. Mares can turn a bit brown in summer, because of the sun.

So cute! I love how the babies try to groom you when you scratch them, like you're another horse. I'm curious about the fencing: I see that it is electrified, but also quite low and not reinforced by anything for the most part (like a full wooden fence). I can see how it would be easy to move and alter the shape of the pastures, but do you ever have horses stepping over it or are you ever worried about horses getting tangled in it? It seems like that might be a risk since its mostly just the one or two lines of electrical tape. I'm always interested in fencing and I would like to know how you like this type of fencing, or if you would like to have anything changed about it. Thanks for another adorable video! The babies are growing into beautiful, independent grown up girls (and boy)!

It looks like Leike (& all the other fillies) needs a good brushing to get their foal coats off! Do you ever take a stiff (groom's) brush out with you & brush a few strokes to which horse walks up? That would be fun to see starting & as they get older b4 they go to the yearlings pasture. Which mares will be expecting a foal next spring? It has been so much fun watching the foals from the start. Love your channel & warch it all the time. Sometimes I turn it on & let it run all afternoon. So peaceful! 💜 😊
