We are staying there for the duration of D23 in August. Can't wait. ❤️💛💙 Those figurines aren't just models, they are "maquettes." Maquettes serve as character reference for 2D animators who would work simultaneously on the same project drawing the same characters.

Stayed in one of the updated rooms on the 12th floor that was freshly completed, and it was terrific, with a perfect view of California Adventure Park. Worth every dollar, and I never would have predicted myself saying that. The walk to get into the parks or downtown was very short.

Have you ever stayed at Disneyland hotel? Do you think Pixar is better ?
@larryw479 ай бұрын
@@angelaescamilla4983 just stayed at the Disneyland hotel. I like it better than the Pixar due to his location, but honestly both are great. I highly dislike the new system for early entry however, meaning the only one park per day. It ruins the benefit, in my opinion, to only have one park per day.

I’m really impressed with what they were able to do in the existing footprint. Stayed at Pixar Pier before and like someone else said, rooms are larger, it just lacked continuity of themeing. It looks way more put together now. Cant wait to stay there again!

Wow, I’m loving the new hotel! And I agree, that private access to DCA is such a big perk for staying there!
@gridley10 ай бұрын
Given the area in DCA it was trying to meld with, the Paradise Pier theme for the hotel wasn't too inspiring. It still doesn't make an ideal backdrop for the park, but it is what it is. As for the parking lot south of the hotel & all the land mentioned in the DL Forward project in general, another YT vlog is describing its proposed 10-year budget as way too modest..
@HeyBrickey10 ай бұрын
I think we see some movement in the next ten years but probably mainly infrastructure for things to come. I wouldn’t imagine a ton of the exciting stuff would happen in the next decade unless they are playing a great game of poker with us.
@gridley10 ай бұрын
@@HeyBrickey As with businesses like Knott's or Magic Mountain, I don't know what the economics are for Disney's parks in Anaheim vs elsewhere. So what I'd want & what is financially feasible may be 2 different things. I've watched a YT vlogger's recent tour of DisneySea & parks like that totally affect my opinion of DCA & the DL Forward project. I've read that per-guest spending is much higher in Tokyo than Anaheim. If so, it's tougher to be more demanding. But I still think good creative judgment is half the battle. There are people since 2001 who've said that DCA is really good. There are others who rate Disney's recent movies & streaming shows, including the ones from Marvels & Lucasfilm, as very good too.

Call me a negative Nelly, but this looks like crap. It's bringing up bad memories of the new decor for the Contemporary Resort rooms. Without the drawings on the wall, the rooms resemble detention cells at Club Fed. I had stayed at this hotel during the summer of 2021. I found my room charming . . . well, quite beautiful, with its So Cal/Surfer theming and interesting touches of Disney IP. This new theming? I've already said my piece. By the way, this hotel dates back to the 1980s, not the mid-20th century.

ngl as a person who grew up in the original Paradise pier I really enjoyed being there! With the pool, characters at PCH, and the theme as well. Kinda sad to see it go but also I'm glad they are retheming it as well because the entire theme was getting outdated too.

Finally?! The original DCA had that entrance. I used it before and it came out near the corn dog and Mulholland Madness. I loved PCH grill. The omelet station was great and having Max for character breakfast was good too. This "new" hotel, looks like just another design from Marriott or Crowne Plaza at best. They had such an opportunity to do traditional Disney and not just corporate disney. Tell a story, put people in a place and time. Maybe make them feel like they've become part of Pixar and have the area look as the campus in Emeryville looks (which I been to and it DOESN'T), have some desks and chairs that resemble the artist working areas. Lounges to give the air of the group work areas where ideas are thrown around. Put up som art in various stages of completion. Then maybe insert some really new tech to have art that the guest can use their finger or tablet or phone stylus to continue the drawing and it comes to life or is transmitted to another place to have others see. Heck, If Starbucks can do it to send all the way to Orlando, then corporate disney can't do better? Such a waste. At least the old version had that nice beach smell that you got when you walked in. Now it's as sterile as it looks!

Thanks for this update. It looks like a great improvement. I’ve never been tempted even a tiny bit to stay there, given the cost, other quality hotels nearby and the fact that if I do splurge on an on property hotel, I have a soft spot for the OG DL Hotel. They’ve done a great job and it may now be on my radar. It should really please Florida visitors, as they seem disinclined (understatement alert 🚨 😂) to stay off property. The new entrance to DCA is a real plus.

Nice video - thanks! I just stayed there- and the standard rooms on the street get a LOT of street noise at night so people really should pay up to get the premium room. That makes it close to Disneyland Hotel standard room price and that hotel is far superior - their standard rooms don’t have loud noise. So Pixar just didn’t add up for me - but they did do a great job with the pool area however it’s very small. FYI - the keys from Pixar and from the Disneyland Hotel open the gate to the Grand CA hotel at the street entrance and we always do early entry from Grand CA courtyard to Downtown Disney - which is the best location. Most people don’t know that all hotel guests are welcome to use that entrance. It’s much better than early entry by corn dog castle which is not near prime rides for early entry. We stay at the Grand CA too.

I stayed here ages ago, shortly after it was built, I think. It was new, and thus nice enough, but I'll be honest, it just felt like some random Mariott rather than Disney. I really enjoy the refurb, the clean lines while still staying fun. There's enough character to be themed while still keeping it classy... unlike Art of Animation.... One thing I do lament is there used to be a little Japanese restaurant in that hotel... I don't think it's been there for a decade, but it was one of the best Japanese meals I've ever had. I do remember it being kind of small and dark, though, so it probably suffered from its environment more than anything else. Shame...
