Excellent video, it's great to see the collab! One thing I'll add to this: don't be afraid to go for the higher prices, as long as you don't mind waiting for them to sell. Several times now I've priced items above what I thought they were really worth. They still sold and the buyers left good feedback. Buyers will often put more value in an item than you'd think!
@KimBliss2 жыл бұрын
Excellent point. I think the way Etsy evolved over the past couple of years has made people feel that you have to price low or, as Kara mentioned, undercut on price in order to get sales. Thankfully it seems that the tide is turning and the conversation is again moving back towards pricing an item what it's truly worth. And I'm all here for it! 😁
@OldtoNewRestorations2 жыл бұрын
@@KimBliss A case in point: I had an old tool listed for £20, which was about what I thought it was worth. Someone in the US bought it and paid the £50(!) postage on top of that - so for them, my item was worth nearly 4 times what I'd priced it at! With OOAK, 'it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it' goes both ways.

I also apply this to my handmade crochet baby things. It works, I'm just a lot more patient for sales.

I really loved this collab, I don’t sell vintage (although, my husband and I wanted to open an eBay shop to sell my vintage Pokémon cards and his old nascar stuff from our childhood, the 90s is back and we want to take advantage of that!). I make art and sell handmade stuff on Etsy, but both were helpful and I love yours and Kara’s channels. They’ve helped me grow, and I’d love more collabs in the future!

Really chuffed you enjoyed them! 😁 I still find it nuts that the 90s are now vintage. In my mind they only happened the other week and never went anywhere! 😆

Hi Kim, the best thing about finding your channel last week is that I can binge watch all of your videos! You’re a natural on camera and it’s just feels like you’re chatting to a friend. I buy vintage books and then take a craft knife to them. A book I worked on yesterday had a Sunday School prize label in it from 1897. I’m sure microbiologists would have a field day testing the page foxing! Librarians look away. I am secretpocketbooks on Etsy. I’m making do and mending. Upcycling. Not hoarding! I’m sure that people collect vintage books simply for the aesthetic, and so do I.

Aw thanks so much Nicola! And we're with you on the collecting vintage books. My husband has a very old recipe book in his den and the recipes in that are... interesting. So glad to meet a fellow upcycler! 😁

Watched both as I am subscribed to both. Win win for me 🙂 and fun fun fun! As a vintage seller, I did love the weird keyword comments. After all what have to you go to lose? But it made me think, this isn't limited to just vintage. I think at least one weird keyword phrase should be included per item (especially if your keywords mirror your title or description [now that that is counted]) for handmade as well. And oh my yes! on the vintage as craft item. I have an archeological dig garden. (Doesn't everyone?) and found this glass bottle stopper. Sold it from my Etsy shop. Lovely review showed me that the person who bought it used as a piece needed in her chandelier. Go figure!! Just shows you never know what someone might use something for.
@KimBliss2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the "weird stuff" comment cracked me up. It illustrated perfectly how we tend to approach our keywords with the algorithm on mind and not always the buyer. And buyers are people and as we all know, people are weird. At least, the best ones are any way. 😁

This is the strangest coincidence... I also follow Kara Buntin, and when I started watching this (which I had quickly selected from your video library to watch with my coffee as I needed a break from pattern designing), and then Kara appeared on screen, I thought I had selected a wrong video !!! Oh and also when you re-appeared in that dress I choked and spat my coffee across my keyboard and onto my screen... another coincidence, last night I had ordered a new keyboard lol
