Very informative. Just bought a used one with similar cutting system. It has a jam up with damaged wheels and ejectors. Strangely, there's a couple of wheels outside of their proper position. I was wondering how to take it apart, and you've given me some insight. Thanks.

Excellent! Only suggestion is to slide the parts you are taking off onto another dowel rod or a pencil or a chop stick. Then you can just slide them off and back onto the shaft. Also on my shredders I sprayed a little Rain-X which cleaned, lubricated and coated them which seemed to help them alot. My motor keeps overheating so I am thinking of attaching a drill motor instead. Should get some more RPMs out of it too. Then I will have a turbo shredder.
@damiendoesit31263 жыл бұрын
That’s a great suggestion! Thanks for checking out the video. If you do make the turbo shredder, you definitely have to make a video of it!

Very helpful tear-down video for the repair I am about to do on my old Fellows shredder. Only suggestion I have would be to have used some of the excess grease (that was seen on the metal end piece) and put that lubricating material on the adjacent plastic gears (which is probably where it was before it got squished out over time).
@damiendoesit31264 жыл бұрын
Edmund Drozek definitely good advice! A well lubricated gear is a happy gear!

I put a sticky note over the lid where the lid sensor is, and that worked well

Is there a video showing how to mesh the two shafts for re-assembly ? I am stuck there on mine.
@damiendoesit31263 жыл бұрын
I wish I would have filmed it in better detail. Once I for the two shafts back together, I lined them up and pressed on them and kinda rotated them back and forth. Eventually they interfaced and started meshing

I have a similar paper shredder that only works in reverse. It didn't work at all, then I replaced the fuse and the lights / reverse now works. It's not the sensor, I put a multimeter over the sensor wires and when you click the sensor lever the multimeter beeps in continuity mode, so the sensor is working. But the motors do not activate when the sensor is pressed. Wondering if you had an ideas? Thank you.

You don't have to remove all of the shredding teeth. Just pop off the retaining clip and move it to the very end where the previous retaining clip was. This will give you enough room to spread the shredding teeth apart so you can clean out any paper that is stuck without having to remove all of them, without having to worry if they stayed in the correct order.

I didn’t just have paper jammed in mine though, I actually had teeth that were crushed and twisted on the post. I agree though, just a simple paper jam could have been fixed way easier. Thanks for checking out my video!

Why didn't you use tweezers to take the pieces of paper off the blades?
@damiendoesit31263 жыл бұрын
Great question! I tried tweezers, needle nose pliers and a screwdriver first but the paper was compacted too hard to pull it off. In addition, the cutting wheel blades were bend and deformed from being jammed up with paper and needed to be reshaped anyhow. Perhaps if the paper accumulation wasn’t as severe, tweezers or primers might have worked better. Thank you for watching Darlene!

Most cutter blades are stacked in pairs of two. There might be sticky oil or something holding them together. Simply pry them apart. I think the failure of most shredders is lack of lubrication. Found out the hard way when the spacers jammed in the blades. I had to find 6 spacers, then 5 small bushings/ spacers between the blades. An online source had salvaged parts for shredders, while the brand was different, the part was basically the same. Reassembled the shredder and all works fine.
