Chrissie, I'm so glad I've found your channel! This video came at just the right time for me. I've been struggling lately with not being able to trust myself and the struggle to be compassionate toward myself (sucks!). Thank you for your willingness to be vulnerable and share your wisdom. You're such a source of inspiration and encouragement.

You make it crystal clear that OCD is OCD. I always feel that my religious OCD is harder to combat because of the thought that God/Universe is upset at me and it's hard to "prove" that wrong. But it seems like it's exactly the same for most, where it's simply one's brain trying to do the controlling...(or trolling:-) Thank You!!

I have a hard time with feelings. If I have a feeling of not loving my partner/friend/partner it gets so big its insane. I analyze it and gets so insecure. Its about that I DID feel a negative feeling about someone and then I cant let it go. I guess i should be thinking ”what does that mean TODAY?” (Sense it can be years back). Eeeeeetc. So. How do I let go of the obsession about FEELINGS, when I DID feel it?

Thanks Chrissie, I have been in therapy and on meds w chronic refractory ocd for 50 plus years, since birth. For me, I get really nauseaus and I get a headache as i feel the demons horns come out with its catastrophic damned if you do, damned if you dont urgencies. If you have to ask if it is real or ocd, 100% of the time, its Ocd...No question. And like you say, it doesnt matter if its real or not, those are just more bs thoughts for the ocd to screw you over. I try to just think of a warm happy loving thought towards myself, and not pay any attention to the jarring urgent thought...anyone who has suffered for years Knows thru their basic illness thru that miserable feeling when its the beast poking its horns to lure us down the rabbit hole...and then everybody knows what happens next if we take the bait...the beast immediately pretends to be us, and comes up with another more scarey thought to bring us further down the spiral to hel-,till eventually were checkmated, brainlocked with zero outs.

@Nick yore very welcome...for me its shear survival every 2nd...and has been every day of my life. Be sure to try all the common treatment....psychiatrist, meds, erp, cbt, act, mindfulness, support groups...which helps most. Erp, cognitive therapy are the main therapies...but for me they prove detrimental...it mite take years to find out what werks for u...but just be patient...and take baby steps all along the way. If its the common themes u hear about, germs, washing, checking, relationship...those are pretty much able to manage with erp. If its s rare condition like mine, chronic refractory ocd...be kind to yorrself...take it one day at a x...just do yore best...and find ways that werk for u to feel good...for me its walkin in nature, ie...and try to tap into that natural ez happy, fun, feel good place inside you!!😊🎶😎...even if u have to fake it. Being positive is helpful, too. And dont take it all too serious...best relief i get...is when i blow Everything the illness is tellin me...n just have fun.

@Nick oh...checkin the stove or door locks over n over...or symmetry...arangin things where they have to be perfect, or something really bad will happen, are other common themes, fears.

@@alr.3137 its the diagnosis that ocd specialist give u after all therapy, meds dont provide any relief...after years n yore still in such misery ud rather be in heaven than live a bedridden state of misery day in and day out for yore entire life/treatment resistant ocd...if u have to ask...u dont have it...only about 1 in 20 billion folks w ocd have it from what im told

lespaul0009 you are right, I like to regard Pure-O as a system, and there is never a solution within the system to get rid of the system. So the best thing one can do is to abolish the system altogether. It's obviously not easy to do it all the time.

Try to see an ocd specialist maybe, or maybe just find someone online who you can talk to, and just so you know it, there are many people struggling with the same thing as you do right now and you are not alone, remember that. I know it is a few months ago since you wrote this but if you are still struggling i definetly would recommend you to see an ocd specialist.

Hi Chrissie, I have watched a couple of your videos and it seems that your story is similar to my own. I also grew up in a religious home. I started suffering from HOCD when I was 15. I’m 20 now and still struggling. There was a brief time period where I didn’t have the thoughts, but that maybe lasted for a year and my triggers still affected me slightly. I’ve had POCD, health OCD, and just plenty of obsessive thoughts in general. I just wanted to thank you for putting these videos out here in a professional and insightful way. I am wondering, do you still consider yourself religious? I would be interested in knowing how that impacts your OCD.

Thank you for the video! I dont know whats real anymore. I was diagnosed with bipolar 15 years ago. Now i went to 2 psychiatrists and they told me i dont have it. I always obsessed either over my meds my health and now i feel like im going crazy. I feel like they misdiagnose and miss things I beyond obsess and research the HECK out of bipolar . Hours every day. By this time i think i know more than them about bipolar. My gut sais they are wrong but i dont know if i can trust my gut. Horrific scenario. Awesome Video ❤

Thank you for your channel. I have a question. My daughter went through a period of time where she was a new mother, and has a professional career. Violent thoughts began, and as part of her treatment was telling her husband her thoughts as she could receive encouragement. All I hear on your videos is this is not effective? Am I missing something? Ive dealt with these thoughts as well. Ive never had an ocd diagnosis. Just generalized anxiety, depression, and ptsd. I feel encouragement is helpful. I would guess the therapists in ocd are reassuring their clients too. Thank you
