Is It POSSIBLE to Beat Five Nights at Freddy's WITHOUT using the LIGHTS?

Welcome to the Insane Asylum where, for some reason, I'm going to answer the burning question: Is it possible to beat Five Nights at Freddy's without using the lights?
As you may know, Five Nights at Freddy's is a popular survival horror game that requires you to survive five nights while being trapped in a pizzeria with malfunctioning animatronics.
Today, I will take on the challenge of beating the game without using the lights. I'll be sharing my gameplay experience with you, my thoughts and reactions as I try to survive every night without relying on the lights.

You actually don't need to be staring at specifically Foxy's cam for his movement to fail-- being in the cameras at all will lock him. So honestly so long as you focus your attention on Bonnie and Chica while only occasionally checking for Foxy, the first few nights are cake

Small detail: At 22:25, you actually did try to close Bonnie's door. If you pay attention, you can see your mouse move to the left door button and hear the door failure sound effect. That sound only plays if you try to close the door when Bonnie or Chica have already moved into the "attack when camera is up" phase. Now watch the timer from when you hear him move to when you die. 4 seconds. It took that little hesitation for Bonnie to move from closet to direct kill. If that doesn't emphasize how tough the challenge is, I don't know what will. Nice job surviving that ordeal, and cool video as well!

I've never played the game. How long does "door failure" work? Once you hear that sound does that mean you will lose or does it last a certain amount of time before you can close it again?

@@rosestar1324 Once you hear that sound, it means that an animatronic is "in the room". That means there's a (high) chance every second that the animatronic will attack you and make you lose the night. When you hear the door failure sound, it's essentially just a matter of time before you lose.

Even though the developer obviously intended for lights to be a very important feature in this game, I think this way of playing by having to keep track of every single animatronic through cameras conveys a much more interesting and scary experience and feels much more authentic to the original intent of the game. In later nights it just becomes somewhat tedious and predictable with only having to check on both Freddy and Foxy while only using lights for Bonnie and Chica.

I think this is why the Fnac fangame straight up doesn't have lights for two of the animatronics, one of them being able to come from either door. It makes a lot more sense that one has to keep close watch of both cameras and still instantly close the door, instead of looking at the cameras actively being suboptimal.

I don’t know why, but it really bothers me when people refer to Scott as “the developer”. Also, in my opinion, the cams only really exist to make people panic and overreact to the animatronics’ every move. Bonnie offstage? Close both doors. Someone in the hall? Close the corresponding door. Someone in the hall corner? Close the corresponding door again (likely right after opening it). Bonnie in the supply closet? Well he clearly get to you from there. But then he does and he kills you night 1/2. Unlike FNaF 2+, the only mechanic Scott explains is Foxy.

@@ayuballena8217five nights at candys, and they’re referring to the character old candy and another hidden secret night 5-6 character: you don’t have door lights and while most other animatronics you can see the eyes of, they don’t have any so it’s a lot scarier: i think you can hear them approach, as they make a low humming sound at either door they are at, it’s subtle but you gotta be good at picking up on it. I know this because i have played the 20 mode for FNAC because when i was younger i was too poor to buy actual FNAF, but uh, yeah- it’s essentially the same here, there may not be the hum but you can use the footsteps to tell if someone is lurking at your door

Fun fact: The AI can go above 20, but it will do nothing because each unit higher increases the odds of moving by 5%, so for example, a level of 21 would be a 105% chance, which would be the same as 100%.

Even more fun fact! It to some degree DOES have a difference, since occasionally(on rare occasions), a bug will trigger for around 5 to 10 seconds, where almost all the Animatronic's AI will temporarily lower from 20 to 15 and maybe even 10, even if it's for 10 seconds at most, it's more so a sweet spot for most players when this bug happens during a night, however, if the AI goes beyond 20, it can actually weaken the effect of this bug. So on normal circumstances, whilst it doesn't put a difference, it CAN dampen the AI lowering bug.

It'd be scarier if you didn't know, but it would also be more annoying because you could hear a sound and think "Now, either Bonnie is outside, or I'm about to lose the entire night." Every time.

When you mentioned that the power outage goes on until death i decided to calculate the theoretical chance of being able to complete an entire night from 12-6AM if you started at 0% power and got the full 40 seconds of phase 1 and 2 combined there is a theoretical 2.26156424 × 10^-173% chance that you could survice the entire night

Wouldn't 4-20 mode be hypothetically easier than some of the other difficulties? If the animatronics are guaranteed to move, then successfully blocking them will for sure make them move as soon as possible (except for Freddy of course). And once Freddy makes it to his corner, you pretty much have to leave that door closed anyway, so you can disregard Chica as well. It certainly won't be easy, but I'd think the consistency would be beneficial.

sometimes doors don't stop freddy since he sneaks in really fast. In 4-20 mode he moves straight to the e hall corner which makes it much tighter. sure bonnie and chica move away from the door but when the player reopens the doors they're probably approaching the office a second time. Foxy will also be a threat because you have to watch him to see when he's attacking but since freddy has an ai difficulty of 20 then he would attack you almost straight away. 4-20 mode is much harder than you think

​@@trueexcalibur21Freddy literally can't kill you if you're cam-stalling. He can only enter your room if The Camera is up with the door open, WHILE NOT watching him. And for Foxy, as long as the camera is up at an X:X5 interval, Foxy will not move, and it doesn't matter if you're on his camera or not. As long as the cameras are being used, he won't move. The world record for the Highest power left for 4/20 is 26% You get 29% power for the whole night when you remove the passive power loss.

Actually... as DJ Sterf (I think that's his name) proved, all you need to win at FNAF1, is the left door. If you close and open the door at precise moments, you can actually win. Chica will get into your office, but she will never jump you unless you pull the camera up (and Freddy won't touch you either). You just open and close the door to block Foxy and Bonnie each time they go toyour door, and since all you're doing is opening and closing the left door for a fraction of a second, you can afford to lose power to Foxy banging on your door. DJ Sterf somehow mapped out each possible second that Bonnie or Foxy could attempt to enter the office, and closes the door for only a split second to block them each time, and was able to win by ONLY using the left door and nothing else.

Pro tip: you don't actually have to stare at foxy's pirate cove camera to stop him from attacking, as long as the cameras are ON, he will not move regardless of you are watching him or not.

I do respect this camera method and how you did it, it makes it harder considering that the character overlap each other if they are in the same camera and it’s also go to pay attention to Freddy’s laughs because he’s the one who usually gets overlapped by chica and Freddy has a set path and laughs each time he moves so it’s really easy to find him if he’s overlapped by chica

Fun fact! You do not have to actually be on Foxy's camera to stall him, just being on the cameras at *all* makes him fail his movement checks. This is actually alluded to in Phone Guy's monologue, where he says that Foxy just doesn't like camera usage.

What weirds me out is that night 6 is actually slighty HARDER than 4/20 mode. Since the animatronics will always move in 4/20 mode, they won't use up as much power when they're at the door, unlike night 6 where they don't always move meaning that they'll use MORE power when they're at the door. This also means that you will almost, never get double teamed by bonnie and chica, which means that you will, again, lose less power

On the other hand, 4/20 mode is so precision-demanding that if you make even one mistake your run instantly ends (usually to Freddy), whereas on Night 6 you can play carelessly and still win sometimes. It really depends on whether or not 8 and a half minutes of absolutely perfect execution is easier than Night 6's normal but more random mechanics.

I came to the realization that doing a challenge in FNaF 2 might very well be impossible with the provided mechanics. FNaF 3, however, has potential for a few different challenges. It's crazy how low the ai levels are for night 5 compared to 4/20 mode, yet it still is regarded as very difficult. It makes sense why Scott Cawthon didn't think 4/20 mode was possible to beat now.

I think another challenge similar to this, except without using the camera’s would be good too. Foxy and Freddy would definitely be the main problems since the camera is how you can slow them down, and you can’f use the lights to see them. Foxy especially considering there would be bo real way to see him coming so you either close the door at the right time and get lucky or keep it closed the whole time and lose lots of power, on top of the fact he takes power from banging on the door.

4/20 Mode is possible without using door lights, and in some retrospect it's more manageable than any other night since Bonnie and Chica will always move at a constant rate, and Freddy and Foxy can be camstalled making it surprisingly easy on paper.
