Is it Possible to Beat Plants Vs. Zombies Without Sunflowers? (No Sunflower Challenge)

People have managed to beat Plants Vs. Zombies mini games with unique strategies that involve not planting Sunflowers, however what would happen if we tried to create a fresh new save file and tried to beat Adventure Mode without ever planting Sunflowers (Or Sun-shrooms)? Is it possible?
Note that Plants Vs Zombies on PC runs at a forced 800x600 resolution even when in fullscreen mode, hence why the video looks ugly when viewed in full screen. Not much I could do about it unfortunately.

I remember when I first got the game and read the manual. There was a little note saying "sunflowers are terrible, don't use them" (or something like that) and I would play these games without it. Little did I know the note was from the zombies, who obviously are aiming for me to lose. I won a few games, but kept getting stuck. So I did in fact do this challenge without knowing it. At one point I did eventually try the sunflowers, and boy did that save me weeks of time. I regretted it so much, I decided to start the game from scratch. From the experience though, I can more than say it is possible.

Did you know that if you don’t pick Puff-shroom in the first Night level, a warning message appears saying: “This level will be extremely difficult without Puff-shrooms. Are you sure you wish to continue without them?” The game even prioritizes this message over warning that you need Sunflowers more than ever now that it’s nighttime. I guess even the game secretly admits how useful these little mushrooms are that you don’t even need Sunflowers (or Sun-shrooms) in order to beat night levels with them around. However if you click “Yes” in the no Puff-Shrooms warning message, it will then move on to the next warning message about having no Sunflowers at nighttime. Requiring you to click “Yes” on the warning message twice in order to start the game, although the level will definitely be impossible to win without Sunflowers AND Puff-Shrooms at night.

@LAUNDRY DETERGENT the thing is, by the time you reached lategame, you might already had a lot of melon pults, 1 row of twin sunflowers, gatling peas/cattails and at least 2 cob cannons (i don't really use cobs though.) you might have around 3-5k/wave during that point, so why don't you just spend the excess suns on spikerocks anyway? They can also give free damage to zombies and an extra security to zombonis + they hold gargantuars far longer than an ice-shroom could do as the only plant that doesn't die in one hit by the gargantuar.

Still, Spikerocks and 1 empty space in front of it still is one of the better strategies to kill gargantuars rather than spending 2 instantkills everytime. And it's not a waste of sun since it's not that expensive in the lategame.

Ren Shinomiya Cob Cannons are the only possible way to get over wave 200+ without ladders from ladder zombies. It’s virtually impossible to have excess sun when your field is entirely defense. At most, 1-3 Twin sunflowers on the first 2 rows of the water lanes. And besides, cob cannons are CHEAP for what they do. Look up 20 cob cannon setup by Hitori Dakeno. *Also a side note, I don’t think your defense would survive a full giga garg wave*

Chomper is about as useful as Marigold in this game. It’s mean,but reusable potato mine is a bad role, since potato mine is used to make more sun,NOT as actual defence(Unless you’re getting the Pyromaniac achievement) Cob Cannon also suffers from this, but it’s flexibility and just being a better plant makes it worth it.
