I like how you put this video together! It gives me a good sense of what I'd see in Changsha if I were to go for a day (or two). It helps me understand this 'arising' city a bit better.

Changsha looks like a vibe. Do you know if people also lived in the walking streets with the old shops? Kind of like Wangfujing walking street just surrounded by the hutongs of Beijing where people are living in the old houses? I am so interested

As we read, people did live in the old buildings in Changsha that are now renovated and turned into shops, particularly in the historic walking streets. Changsha, like many cities in China, has areas where traditional architecture and old neighborhoods have been preserved and repurposed as commercial zones. These areas often feature old residential buildings that have been converted into shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions. Historically, these buildings were primarily residential, and families lived in them, often in structures built in traditional Chinese styles. As cities like Changsha modernized, many of these older residential areas were demolished or transformed into commercial districts. In some cases, the buildings have been preserved and restored, maintaining their original architectural charm while being adapted for new uses.

@@spintheworldtravel thank you for the explanation. I feel attracted to this city already. I lived in Beijing some years back and loved visiting the Hutongs because of the cultural and community feeling they give. Some of the best restaurants and hostels were inside the Hutongs. I also loved the narrow alleyways and walking streets around the big gates of Beijing. It’s always better to have traditional buildings with a mix of cyber punk/futuristic vibe.

I think there is something wrong with you. Comment like yours is disappointing. Comment only when you visit China yourselves and not when your brain has anti China biases.
