Crazy they don't own the gates into the property. Shame the owner who doesnt share the obvious entry !!! Id build same exact copy of the entrance but three times as BIG ! 😅

Gosh, I enjoyed these episodes. Surely they have portrayed a happier demeanour towards renovating this whole place. Me as a project manager, need to learn how to adopt the lesser stress route to manage emotions hahahaha, learning from them. But I loved the ending. Oh oh, the gate part was actually very funny! I would really have done the same at least, better, so their front gate looks old. But I am sucker for festival lights, and if from the from gate into the property was lined with yellow warm festival lights, it would have been superb. But that's me ... Finally the reception hall, though bricked up - when adorned with flowers, looked mighty different. Thanks for the entertainment! Much love to the family ...

Sad to hear they sold. My builder mate and I did our own project house to be our private residence. We lived in the renovation and expansion mess moving the kitchen from room ro room as well as our bedroom as we went. It took 7 yrs but that was due to my decorative painting, very like this house on a small scale.😊 It is Spanish mudejar style with a Morrocan tiled 2 storey arched wall fountain hand painted and fired tiles by me. Tile wall murals in other areas, faux gold as you see here but also Dutch gold you apply like gold leaf the difference being it must be sealed or it tarnishes. Carved cabinets by local craftmen , huge storey and half wall window Morrocan arch custom made in cedar custom made iron grate front of arabesques. Scenes from the Alhambra which we visited on two storey walls on and on the decorative work went mosaics in the garden curved iron staircases inside and out It amazes people...all design and paint done by myself with one un trained worker at the start....construction was my mate's responsibility beautiful fireplaces including a raised arched one in the master bedroom for viewing from the bed. The 4,000 sq ft 2,000 more in terraces is three levels with large outdoor terraces a downstairs sitting area and two dining areas for parties ...all outdoor features are lighted for evening. The third floor is a tile roofed volcano viewing terrace...the volcano safe in the distance, erupts all winter off and on😊 and the bedroom arched window and terrace is for viewing the top of another extinct volcano the house sits on...a UNESCO World Heritage site is located nearby, a Spanish era colonial town filled with restaurants and events. Tourist visitors mainly in winter as it is in the tropics. The house was built for parties and two people...there are two master suites so it is not loaded with bedrooms...it is for our pleasure and guests who go HOME or our family. There is a garden casita with bedroom and kitchen dining area and its own terrace for my teen grandchildren, their parents stay in the downstairs master suite. I had dreamed of this my entire life. It is a joy to have but it was an even bigger joy to DO. We both loved the work and sense of achievement my kate was the builder amd supervised a local team of laborers. I could never part with it ever. But I did have just ONE such place in me. It was a very basic and scruffy lifestyle under construction BUT such FUN!!! We were NOT working to any deadline and relished the project.

To each their own but my brother married in a forest and my cousin in her parents' garden and it was both times very charming. I don't see the need to spend tens of thousands for the "perfect" wedding in a morning coat / wedding gown you're never going to wear again and to have that stunning venue etc.

Dutch gold is great to work with. I have done ITALIAN rooms, Spanish Mudejar etcetc I started as a canvas painter but when I built a home used these techniques ...the MOST FUN I have ever had...but I didnt uave a tight budget because the home wasnt costly but it is a mini palace in a historic Spanish colonial capital i😊n the Americas in a perfect c.imate. Tropical.and rose gardens the acbievement of my life Im so glad I sized it right for my ambition and energy.

In New York and New Jersey $25k is dirt cheap for a 4 or 5 hour wedding venue 😆 closer to $100k is becoming average
@Nettietwixt
@Nettietwixt 10 ай бұрын
This was back in 2010 so I think £25k would have equated to about $40k maybe a little more. I would bet that for a big wedding it's just that for the venue and catering these days.

In 1990, it cost my parents $20K for 33 people at my very small, intimate, classically elegant wedding in NJ! Nothing over the top, actually very simple in a historical carriage house. Both our daughters weddings cost a fortune. Between the 2 it was closer to $200K than I'd like to admit to! One on the water and one in a country setting. Both simple, elegant weddings and yet cost us so much money! But it's ok, they're both happy with beautiful families.... Money well spent!!!

This is just astounding !! and a million percent exhausting to watch. I cannot get over this restoration. The babies! Those precious babies are so sweet to watch.But how do they manage it with the sheer volume of work to be done?How are they possibly accomplishing all of this? And where does the money for it come in? I said they had a budget of three hundred thousand? No flipping way they could do that on that budget.

Having sold off this property in 2019, Beeney didn't stick around long enough to transform this pile of bricks into the "stately home for our future" as she kept squawking on about. I think she might possibly tend to do this type of behavior on any project she takes on, it all seems pretty much for television, YT and maybe the occasional prime spot for DIY type of stuff. This couple would be the last I would ever consider hiring for a massive project like this, they seem totally incompetent and inadequate in all the aspects of planning. How TF can she call herself a "planner" and NOT know she has to have all sorts of permits, insurances, emergency status equipment, accommodation limits, occupancy limits, access, egress, glass safety, food safety, sanitation and water hazard safety? These are the rules and the governances that control this type of events, and IMO, she is skating dangerously close to maxing out all the acceptable permits and grievance regulations permitted for any type of private/public event offering. To not even be aware of or consider the safety and the welfare of guests, staff, workers, and all the other myriad numbers of people who she deliberately put into harm's way by her carelessness and inattention to standards and permits? She's dangerous. At the end, when she stands there, all smug and conceited about her raving success, she gives off the notion that she had it all under control from the first moment. She did not. They would never even make my list of people to consult for any event, I don't care if it was mud wrestling or a hot dog eating contest, this woman is anything but a professional. SHAME on her.

These places go to the dogs because NO ONE can afford to keep them warm enough to keep the mold, mildew and rot away. A normal stick built home has to be heated to some degree even when people go to a warmer place during the winter. You can't just shut the heat off and I very much doubt that these huge places are EVER WARM ENOUGH. Probably never were, even 50 years or a hundred years ago. Rot doesn't develop overnight, it takes years of neglect.
