Necro post..but.. I had a Lowe Alpine waterproof hardshell for the best part of 20 years and it took that long for the fabric to breakdown. Never washed it, never reproofed it. Good quality stuff.

Really like the vibe here. It really bothers me how so many people put so much emphasis on new gear. I think becoming more skilled in the outdoors includes marrying your skills and gear together so well that you can go with the same kit for as long as it lasts, hopefully many years.

I've been travelling with mine for over a decade and it's still looking great! I'd definitely recommend this backpack.

Just the kind of real and honest review I have been looking for. Your video helped finalize my decision to get this pack recently. Got yourself a new subscriber as well. 👍

Great endurance review and perfectly timed for me! I bought this same rucksack several years ago and then never really used it as I bought a super lightweight Lowe Alpine 25L rucksack soon after and ended up using that for hiking. Now I'm off to East and South Africa on a 3 month truck tour and needed a bigger rucksack with a more breathable back for the heat of Africa. I've dug out my Lowe Alpine Air Zone 35-45 rucksack in brand new condition and, thanks to your review, I now know that it will stand up to the rigours of the African bush! This rucksack also just fits the 56cm limit for hand luggage on British Airways - perfect - no need to buy another new rucksack! Many thanks...

I'm late to the party but just ordered the female version of this for my daughter. After seeing your video I'm happy with my choice. Thanks.

Great video, I totally agree on your points on sustainable buying. I now only buy stuff I will at least use for 4+ years, like this backpack (the modern version that is). Thanks for the honest review!

Virtual Turtle no worries man! I’ve got another one of these endurance reviews coming in the next week or so, about wool, smartwool in particular. Do you have the new version of this backpack?

Fantastic channel you have fella,always look forward to the content,regarding rucksacks my last two have been deuter and they’ve done me really well,until the zips give up and they elastic in the side pockets go all saggy,but between the two of them they’ve lasted me 14yrs,my next pack I’m going to go zipless if I can 👍

Hi Chase, Nice to see a review where the product has been used and abused for a few years - much more helpful than a shiny unboxing first-impressions video. Do you have any experience taking this pack on flights as a cabin bag? I'm looking for a decent hiking pack that I can also use as carry-on luggage. I'm wondering whether I could get away with the AirZone Pro packed to 35L rather than the extended 45L.

I would like to know too. I have been thinking about getting this bag for a few years. I'm just unaware how it fares as carry on luggage on cheaper airlines e.g., Ryanair. Thanks.

@@linstein5903 I went ahead and bought this pack anyway. First impressions are promising - it came in a box that said 550 x 350 x 100 on the side. The internal frame is just under 55cm, so as long as you don't pack it any higher than the internal frame, it should be perfect for carry on baggage.

@@stephenhobson7463 brilliant. I saw blacks selling it on ebay for 77pounds, delivery included. I think im going to bite the bullet

Hi Chase, found your channel during the lockdown here in the UK so thanks for all the content! Can you tell me please if this pack is capable of carrying a lightweight tent externally (pack size 45 x 14) and comfortably in regards to the carriers centre of gravity. All the best, Kieran.
@ChaseMountains4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I've carried a tent a bunch of times. You can always split it up so the poles are on one side and the fly and the rest is on the other side.

Hi Chase! Would you recommend this pack for Thru Hikes? I'm really looking to minimise the amount of gear I use/buy for sustainability and would prefer to have one pack that lasts a while. I'm starting with some day hikes and week-long trips and will gradually build. I'm hoping this pack can work for it all. Thanks!

The part where the straps attach to the top of the bag doesn’t look very robust on mine. It’s decent enough up to about 10-12kg but ideally I’d like to carry about 20Kg, have you been out much with a heavy load? I don’t want to lose a strap mid trek.
@ChaseMountains5 жыл бұрын
Not on this particular model, I have carried 25kg with no problem but I also have the newer model and and yup i see what you mean it doesn't appear to be very solid. If things go wrong with it I'd contact them
