This is in my opinion album of the year. Chappel & Dan Nigro worked for 6 years putting this together and it has hit #1 on the Billboard album charts after a year long climb. I have never seen that before. Every song is great, the album has a flow which seems to tell a story. Top performers in the industry rave about the album. It deserves Album of the Year. Also remember she wrote these songs, she didn't select them from pro writers like most others.

Great album reaction! Chappell is actually a lesbian fyi but when she was making this album she was still figuring out her sexuality, which is what a lot of the songs on this album are about. This was how I felt my first listen. Her songs immediately felt like I'd been listening my whole life because they are so familiar, but yet so unique and beautiful in new ways. She's become my number one and can't wait for more

@MusicCityMere And that is indeed what you were doing. When I saw her May 23rd to me that was very clear then. Couldn't see Elvis' 1956 breakout year, or the Beatles' 1964 breakout year. But we DID see Chappell Roan in 2024 as she took popular music by storm and sang and high-kicked her way past everybody else in the music biz.

it was released in 2023 ❤ the one year anniversary just passed. it won't be eligible for awards. (this goes to show, in my mind, that unless you hit the mainstream, it doesn't matter how good the music is, you won't even be nominated.)

@LAser-d9 The September 2023 release date was one more very smart decision, of many. Chappell and Dan knew they had made something great... but also that Chappell was still next to unknown, and she and the album would need a little time to be found by a wider audience. So they planned for that. Album of the Year next Grammys, for sure. And down the road we'll eventually be realizing it was the album of the decade.

(Grammy) This is vying to become the first debut album by a woman pop artist to receive an album of the year nod since Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR in 2022. Daniel Nigro, who has been nominated twice in this category for work with Rodrigo, co-produced the album with Ryan Linvill and Mike Wise.
