Honestly, I disagree. It only takes just one single star, backed by his team, to take the job of being aggresive, ruthless, defensive and overall competitive. Despite fouls. Despite even not winning. Just dont let Lebron do the easy layup. Block him or smack him. Every single time. Be nasty dogs in defense. Shoot the three only when the two doesnt work. If this happens, the entire league will be embarrassed every game they have against that team. Fans will love it. Then, everyone will adapt. Same that happened with the 3s era.

Adam Silver is just way too soft. The players have 100% been spoiled for way too long, and I really don’t know if a new commissioner could change anything. Someone would have to come in with the mindset being an absolute disciplinarian. If the players don’t like the new rules you’ve put out, tell them to walk. They don’t have to play professional basketball and get paid boatloads of cash. Someone needs to straight up come in cracking the whip and not be the players’ friend. That would be a great start, but even then, it will still take years and years to recover from the low that the league is currently at.

Infantilizing people is a Marxist play, because children are, essentially, non-actors in society and thus the most exploitable. They limit the agency of the individual and focus on the collective guilt of a particular group to twist any adherence of social norms to be oppression; due to the particular institution being inherently discriminatory. 16 year old minority attempts to rob someone and gets killed? “Oh he’s just a little kid!” Meanwhile, 16 year olds for tens of thousands of years of human history have been warriors and treated like adults. It’s all just an attempt to discredit our institutions and supplant Marxist dogma, since they couldn’t get any headway in the economic front, due to their ideology’s complete nonsensical applicability in that sense.

I dont like what silver has done but i also think his hands are tied. He should be getting cooperation from each team . like on load management. teams seem to have no problem letting their stars sit out with bumps and bruises. Fines dont seem to work. At some point these individual teams should care about the fans who have paid high ticket prices, and the players should have some pride. I dont see how its on the comissioner to fix that
@devinpoole4528Күн бұрын
Fines could work if they were an amount that actually mattered. I mean when your a millionaire who cares about losing a few grand. They could literally burn the amount of a standard fine every night in a golden trash can and have it not effect them. Also think players should have to play for a few years before they start to get the big bucks and a lot of it should b based on incentives with another clause based on playing every game unless genuinely injured. Cuz the whole giving them a brinks truck right out the gate thing is definitely a big part of the problem. Cuz any regular person would lose motivation to work hard knowing their already getting the money regardless of performance or if they even show up at all. Not hard to c why the players have become entitled and lazy when they keep getting rewarded for bad behavior.
@JJ_5289Күн бұрын
@devinpoole4528 i agree 100 percent with your points. I just think its going to be hard to undo whats already been done. The players and the players union has a lot of power. Imagine the pushback from the players union if the league comes out with a new rule saying a player has to play 5 or 6 years before they can get a huge contract. They essentially run the league. Thats why i think the comissioners hands are tied. He is desperately trying to keep the ship afloat while avoiding another strike/lockout season.

Just like a lot of problems in America most people are well aware of the issues and will sit idly by and watch it happen right in front of their eyes and not say anything until it is too late, or they will just go along with it to spite the opposition, and the NBA is no different. There will always be a small number of people who will speak up hoping to talk sense into everyone but, by the time they are able to get through, the damage is already done. And just like most problems the issue is ego and change won’t occur until it affects the money. So until the spoiled athlete feels the financial stress that dwindling viewership brings, nothing will happen.

Ham's advice wasn't a shot at Lakers and Lebron. Listen, I know this is hard for some of y'all to believe, but not everything that happens in the NBA revolves around Lebron and the Lakers. I know it may be shocking. Sit down if you need to. This was a coach learning from past experience from an event that never happened in the history of the league and applying that experience. Pretty much in the job description for any coach in any capacity.

I also like how this is an example of a coach getting better at coaching through experience and learning from the inevitable mistakes you make when you’re young and have very little experience. Bc I hear all the time from the LeVisionist Historians that Jordan got to play under the greatest coach of all time…..even when he was a first year head coach. Bc Phil Jackson is the only human in history to be the greatest ever at their job from their very first day they started🙄. This is the advantage they have arguing against things that happened 30-40yrs ago and they use this advantage ALL THE TIME. Which is why I think “LeVisionist Historian” is by far the most fitting name for the average Lebron fan. That’s aside from the fact I thought of it, of course->humble brag 😎 I know. Just please disregard that I’ve seen it used by anyone else who isn’t me exactly 0 times. Despite using it countless times…In a ton of comment sections…from a huge variety of different channels😕….well it’s pretty damn clever to me so yeah, consider it a humble brag, got it?…..sorry, I really went off the rails there for second. It is in part the players fault, if there is no monetary incentive they just could not be bothered to play hard. Pride, team/colors, city, fans do not matter to most, it is all about their individual brand and what benefits them or their "legacy"... I hate the current NBA. Adam Silver should put his balls on the table and flat out say this is how it is going to be, load management, flopping, foul bating, bad reffing etc. is going to be fined. The more they do it the more they have to pay, simple as that.

It is definitely Adam Silver's fault. The players are not absolved from guilt, but Adam Silver's "discipline" has been laughable. Just look at the way David Stern handled serious matters concerning the league's image. David Stern dealt with "The Malice at the Palace" and Gilbert Arenas, while Adam Silver gave Ja Morant a couple of slaps on the wrist and basically has done nothing to Draymond Green

Folks, let's not forget the third party to blame in all of this: the NBAPA. They aren't helping the current situation.
@theleap29462 күн бұрын
As much as I despised David Stern, you kinda realize he had to be tough on the players. Dress codes, huge fines, unwavering accordance to the rules. He enriched players ten times over from the previous generation and while I think he created this issue with big market preferences in the media, the players at least played. Silver needs to toughen up and play the role of Nosferatu (which he looks a lot like on a topical subject) and start fining people. Third party doctors to see if the load management is real, double or triple the fines and fine refs for not calling the game well. Once you take money away from people, and I mean significant money, people will shape up. It might be good to instill the sideline dress code again. I hate to say all this conservative stuff but I used to religiously watch basketball and now I can’t really drag myself to see it. All this happened when they sold out to the Chinese, which means maybe we should charge them more money and less for Americans….you know, the home nation. Just a crazy rant by a crazy person I guess.

Ok, I've never been particularly fond of LeBron, even when he was a top player... He hasn't been for a long time, of course. However, I think you've taken him too seriously. LeBron is not the cause of the problem the NBA has gotten into, he is a consequence or symptom of the problem. The essential problem of the NBA is the huge and meaningless competition in the regular season. An individual defeat or victory means nothing at all because there are a huge number of games and they are played every 2 or 3 days. In such a situation, it is normal that defenses do not play at a top level, and that coaches constantly use the same patterns - they do not have time to prepare the team for a specific opponent. Previously, these problems were not so pronounced, but small ball basketball and a huge number of 3-point shots has made the NBA almost completely unwatchable. I occasionally watch Nikola's games, i.e. Denver and that's it... However, if the number of games were halved to about 40 or so in the regular season and if this nonsense with the play-in system was eliminated that made almost all teams qualify for the playoffs at the end of the marathon, I guarantee you that the attitude towards individual games would change. Players would fight a lot more, coaches would prepare tactics for each game, etc. But - then there wouldn't be damned TV broadcasts every day. European clubs play about 30 games until the playoffs and every, every game is important. That's why I always choose the Euroleague over the NBA except for some play-off games (when Denver plays).
