Another thing people don't take into consideration with Ohtani is the fact he is a right hand pitcher and a left hand hitter. It's not a coincidence that he struggled in batting the season after Tommy John. It goes back to the mechanics of hitting, being a left hand hitter he is going to get a majority of his power from that right arm because that left arm basically just follows thru with what the right arm is doing. Another example of this was Bryce Harper last season when he struggled to find his power. He may not have any pain with most things but that arm is not strong inside and with the vibration of hitting a pitch at MLB speed is not enough to affect it mid swing surely reaching out or just swinging oddly will be painful.
@SpitballinCards10 ай бұрын
That’s a really good point. Ohtani will need time to build up the strength in his right arm. Thanks for watching and thanks for the insightful comment!

Phil made a great point halfway through. It’s almost like supply counts twice. Even with fixed demand, less supply means a higher price. But these days low supply is actually DRIVING MORE demand, when they should be separate variables. I think supply should matter, but I think the trend of supply CAUSING more demand is temporary and actually leaves an open opportunity for growth in medium pop base cards when you can see a clear hierarchy.

We need an Ohtani hierarchy project similar to Cajun Cardboard’s MJ hierarchy. Regarding pop counts, if they are too low, it’s hard to find comps and then some potential buyers may be hesitant for fear of overpaying. Hopefully stops pitching and focuses on hitting only to stay healthy...bought alot of rcs in 2019....graded now!

Sounds like you’ve got a great stash! I want to see him back on the mound too, it’s what made him special. Seems like he can keep hitting through elbow issues. We just want a few more magical two way seasons!

Ohtani 's hitting will be "off the chart"📈..! Because.. He's not in the rotation.. Also..with him being polarized in Hollywood.is going to bring even more exposure... His popularity is only going up..Also with the influx of NPB to the MLB..He is going to be "lumped in" with the hype, expectations and success of his "brotheten" ..coming from the east.. To "hammer" home my point .The biggest of the aforementioned signing's that was considered a "sweepstakes".. (Y'all must've forgot.). .Will be his Teamate! A smoother transition. A sense of familiarity.. And an instant "comradary". Only good things can come of this! And to all those" worried " collectors .. I'll take.. buy..or trade for all the Ohtani cards you got..!

Not one of you guys think that Ohtani's stock or card value is im "peril"... The thing in question is why are you saying this..All baseball cards are going to rise..spike..or at least recieve a healthy bump...(with the exception Wander)..Football is over..and the NBA has been going on..! If you guys aren't " blowin smoke"..and really think there's a "Big Drop"! Ahead. I am petty sure I just changed y'all's mind.

Still way overpriced actually, sell if you can rake in the money, buy back later...all cards overpriced and heading down...peace and good luck.

Christ here - interesting take. I agree a lot of stuff is overpriced (especially wax, which is nuts). Will it all come down? I doubt it. But the more cards topps makes, the fewer there are that will hold value.

Ohtani basically got paid double the amount of any player in the league !!...It is unjustified !!
@SpitballinCards10 ай бұрын
Chris here - more unfair than unjustified. Baseball needs a salary cap, a salary floor, and tons more revenue sharing. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@SpitballinCards Yes to all of this. The economics of baseball are getting absurd. But, I don't blame Ohtani for getting the big payday.

Pretty dumb comment huh? You know dodgers gonna make 2B from the 700M? Do you understand marketing and investments?

Why don’t you guys cover basketball? The most popular sport

Please discuss hyper inflation of the US dollar giving Ohtani cards extra padding against any downward movement. That actually plus a part in all this because a lot of legendary cards didn’t hit there growth spurt during hyperinflation.

@@geoffreyward4929 Chris here - I’m Surprised more cards haven’t plummeted down. Cost of Necessities going up, you’d think there’s less money for hobbies like sports cards. But still people want Ohtani!
