Is it worth buying the Baratza Forte BG in 2025? | Forte BG vs. DF64 MP Burr Espresso Comparison

I wonder if the forte would have done better if it could be dialed in a bit more. The forte shot was 48g out in 17 second, vs the MP shot being 40g out in 29 seconds.

Hi Hoon are you sure it is the pump? I am referring to just before you open the flowvalve, right there the pump slunds okay, maybe its one of tve valves inside. Weel this was just a thought. Great video 😊

Someone asked in the live stream about DF54 , here is my take on that . DF 54 I only use for espresso and NOT pour over. But i only do medium or dark roast . My ZP6 does a noticeable better job at medium than DF 54 for pour over . I was Really disappointed at the flavour of the DF 54 for pour over at medium roast . (pour over I use V60, Kalita wave ,and Stagg XF large batch ) and Both in Canada are about the same price $300 . yes i have 3 grinders...probably going to get 2 more lol. So saying something can do both espresso and pour over is a bit of a stretch . So depends on what you brew . The most important part of the coffee experience i find is the roast of the coffee . I have been roasting green beans for over 2 yrs and have sampled over 40 types of coffee ....its not an exact science , but DF 54 is NOT a good choice for pour over at least not for medium to dark roast .

Honestly, the grind by weight and electronics are kind of over hyped on all grinders. Best advice is to get a baratza vario refurb or used and upgrade all the internals to forte: motor, belt and gear wheel, lower burr carrier and thrust bearing, upper burr carrier, and go with the all metal grinder chamber. Trust me, it’s the shit.

Purchased mine from AliExpress. Just an fyi don’t purchase the mignon hopper it’s a bit small. It does work because of the included silicon gasket but the aluminum “neck” is a bit loose. That was my experience at least.

Thank you Randy. My Shador ic having a lot of retention and fines. That is why I am looking for a bellow. I think the burrs may not be aligned also but it is OK for now...one thing at a time.
