Fun fact: Once you fill up a full screen of inventory, the game starts populating the inventory screen with category tabs. They just don't show up until there's more stuff to sort through.

FOR ANYONE WORRIED THE GAME WILL WEAR ON YOUR EYES : TL;DR : Get to Dirtwater (first town past the tutorial). Talk to bartender. Go to sleep in guest room he gives you. Go to post office. Ask guy at desk for package. Open package from Rufus. Nostalgia mode unlocked. Softer brown/worn parchment kinda look instead of sharp white on black. Very early in the game, if you go to the Jewel Saloon in the first town, Dirtwater, that you enter after the tutorial/prologue, you can talk to the bartender to unlock the guest room upstairs. If you sleep in that guest room, progress to day 2, and then go to the post office two buildings away from the saloon to the right, you can speak to the guy at the desk in the post office. He'll have a package for you from Rufus, your younger brother, and if you open it, you'll unlock Nostalgia Mode, which paints the game in a much softer mixture of old timey, worn parchment/light brown, rather than stark white on black.

Worth saying that the inventory shifts to a tabbed mode once you have enough items to make it worthwhile. At that point, there are a variety of filters to click to get which bit of your inventory you want, although it retains the ability to display everything and allows you to scroll through.

As others have mentioned the inventory does gain tabs and organization after u get enough items, or about 1/3 through the game. Other than that I agree with everything said. It's not the most in depth or intricate game but for 11 dollars it is 15-20 hours of a lot of fun, with some replay value. Also the game has infinite grinding spots so if put a bit of time the game gets relatively easy, even for beanmancer

That's pretty interesting, having played through this game 10 times, I found the difficulty to be as following Easiest - Beanslinger Medium - Snake Oiler Hardest - Cow Puncher It could do with something about how I played it, but Cow Punching was creating some roadblocks for me, while Beanslinging cleared everything very quickly :)

in my opinion snake oiler is EASY when u get to the medicine maker thingy. stack on that one potion that makes plus 20 ranged damage, and bam. Oh and with high moxie and that one shooting thing that lets you do 3 shots at once ALSO, not having a limit on how much poison can be put on enemies, if something’s too hard just use like 10 venom and bam it’s dead in one turn

I used to play KoL back in the day - I have very fun memories of it and if it's still up, I wouldn't mind going back for a bit. I even had multiple accounts just so I could keep playing when my character got tired for the day, since it was that fun. I still love the Pastamancer for the sheer premise of how absurd it is, and my favorite weapon of all, the "Sword of Inappropriate Prepositions" is still something I remember fondly to this day. I may need to check this out purely due to brand loyalty. Thanks for making a video about it, Sid!

Depending on circumstance, I wouldn't hold out much hope. Accounts used to be pruned after 30 days of inactivity, unless you had at some point bought an IOTM or held one in your inventory. I lost two accounts full of some pretty awesome stuff until they stopped pruning them for inactivity in March 2009.

the only thing i found odd was calling the bean slinger the hardest class. it is by far the most op class. even on hard mode mysticality is the easiest stat to boost and the blizzard spell will one hit entire groups. not to mention bean wall that is super cheap and absorbs like 6 hits no matter how strong they are. so if you dont one shot everyone on the first spell theres no way you will even run out ap before the fight ends unless your trying to

Does it have proper key rebindings or just those few presets? Even though I type with Dvorak, which was present, and suffer through multiple games that can't even get the basics right I think that the lack of rebindable keys is something that must be mentioned whenever it is not completely there.

Jesper Bengtson - I don't think there's anything beyond the keyboard layout. No individual key binding, though you only need the equivalent of WASD plus E and the numbers 1-4, with either the mouse or direction keys for cursor control. If you do buy it, hit up the devs with the suggestion and who knows - they may have just thought nobody would want key rebinding and add it if there's demand.

A game can be ugly, but still fun to play with it's gameplay, features, and mechanics. But a game isn't fun with bad Gameplay, features, and mechanics, but good visuals. Just look at Oblivion, compared to Morrowind. And I mean without modding, aka on the Consoles as well. Oblivion was made to be better looking, and all the stuff put into graphics. And because of this, the game lacks a LOT of content compared to Morrowind. Having only 4 factions, very little questline in those factions, very few towns, and each town only have TWO side quests in them each, and the main story. And that's it. That's all the content in the game originally. Where as Morrowind had hundreds of side quests, a much bigger map with lots of places, dungeons, and towns to explore. 3 'Factions', with the Guilds, but also other factions in other parts of the game you can join and do. And these guild and faction quests were longer than the main quest in Oblivion. On top of a main questline too, and many other side storylines you can do. Morrowind might be ugly, but it has a lot of content. And Oblivion might little prettier, but it has next to no content at all. Even mods didn't save that game.

Just wanted to add on a bit here. Doctor Alice is the best all-around companion-she has an insta-kill skeleton move and can heal your team. If you're going for the Necromancer route, however, it's strongly suggested that you pick another pardner. Crazy Pete has great synergy with the Beanslinger class (though I'd argue that Gary does well as a tank too) and some decent moves as well.

I actually never even saw the description that said Beanslinger was the hardest class to use. I guess I just lucked out when picking a companion then XD Then again, I did get totally wrecked when running into multiple spellcasting enemies that promptly melted my face off with a fusillade of spooky damage, but as I've since improved my mysticality by a lot and picked up the arctic bean storm spell I could probably kill them now.

Hey SidAlpha. Do you think you might cover Epic Games' FORTnITE? Players have been saying it is, although a paid Early Access, a cash grab with progress gated by chests you can only get easily by paying even more money. Then you get repeats of items or random stats that are useless, like 500% added crit damage on a trap item that does no damage and just pushes/launches enemies.

I think it might be worth a review, but I would recommend waiting until the F2P version is released next year (assuming it is on schedule). Epic did an extremely poor job of presenting the current game state as early access (which it is) as opposed to a full release, but they are actively making improvements and retuning things at a good pace, so I expect it'll eventually be pretty solid. A lot of people have blown the negatives of the game way out of proportion IMO, and I suspect some of the more butthurt among them are hoping you'll take a chunk out of Epic over their greivances. Might be worthwhile hitting Epic up for a review key if you do end up reviewing it. There's enough Invite A Friend keys and the like floating around that they'd probably be willing to give someone with your visibility a freebie.
