Canada needs an Argentinian coach. Seriously.

People dumping on him for Leeds... track the number of league points/game, goals for/game, and goals against/game for Leeds under Marsch vs. the coaches before or after him. Then tell me that Marsch was the problem.

Marsch was the problem

Yep the data shows he'd have finished on 49 points
@dvbernardАй бұрын
I'm not convinced he would be a good national team coach -- since he's so inflexible. A national team coach doesn't have weeks and months to work with players and get them to play in their system. That's the same issue we're having with Berhalter now.
@cadenturner1631Ай бұрын
Marcelo Bielsa is a national team coach with Uruguay and they were second best in conmebal world cup qualifying. He is twice as tactically stubborn and inflexible than Marsch
@dvbernardАй бұрын
@@cadenturner1631well, both Bielsa and Marsch got fired from Leeds for the same reason. With Bielsa, the first year or so is always good, then there is a horrible collapse as players become exhausted and/or teams adapt to his rigid tactics. A year ago, I would have taken Marsch over Berhalter in a heartbeat; but after listening to some of his takes on CBS in recent months, I've totally changed my mind.
@cadenturner1631Ай бұрын
@@dvbernardi don’t argue that Marsch isn’t the best solution, the point is simply that his limited tactical approach doesn’t mean he can’t be a successful international coach. If anything his all out energy and press is actually more ideal at the international stage because it isn’t demanding physically year round, especially if the team isn’t the higher quality side. Look at early leeds, upsets against chelsea come to mind. The problem with him and bielsa was that the players couldn’t keep it up, and lost energy mentally and physically.

@@cadenturner1631 l am also not arguing that it's impossible for him to be successful -- just that he would not be my first choice.

herc is right. our weakness is as we get closer to our own goal. So lets defend higher up and counter.

Nothing wrong with playing a certain system if that system fits the personnel and other teams can't handle it, even if they make adjustments. Canada doesn't have to qualify for the World Cup, so they're preparing for how they play in the competition for the next 2 years. It's not as if other teams will be able to be built to counter what they do. It's a National Team set up. They have to qualify first and then we know who each team is going to play.
@kentabata166Ай бұрын
I hope the American they are talking about is Hugo Perez. He did very well with El Salvador given the situation he inherited.
@dpledoone17 күн бұрын
I’m not sure why you state that we would not want an American-you are our brothers. Had we ever had Bruce Arena, we could not have done worse than we had before Herman showed up. If JM injects some urgency and higher level tactics we will be fine.

Lot of good points here. I'm not sold on him for Canada but I would have preferred him to Berhalter for the US.

Canada's front 6 or 7 would be a great fit for Marsch..but yikes their back 2/3 they don't have a lot of talent back there in the CB position and then you'd ask them to play a high press or at minimum a mid block press, they might give up goals for fun. I mean ..maybe that's good..since you'd rely on the front 6/7 MORE to carry the press and create turnovers.

Pellegrino Matarazzo and BJ Callagher, Wilfred Nancy, Steve Cherundolo, Jim Curtin could make it work before Mourinho comes. At least our Assistant Coach must be from MLS.

I think he would be better served trying something in the second tier in Germany, maybe lower half of the Championship. Just don’t see him as a national team coach. Wish him the best though.
