As a Gen 1 veteran who loves the Eeveelutions, from experience, Jolteon is indeed the best of the original trio.

I'm at the very beggining of the video but... I like Jolteon the best, but electric types don't have a good time in Kanto. Vaporeon will be the best, and, depending on how you judge them, the second will be one of the others. Game time? Probably Jolteon. Real time? Probably Flareon, depending on the number of resets Jolteon gets. It also depends on which version. Jolteon has a hell of a better time in Red and Blue than in Yellow, as it doesn't have to face so many earthquakes. 1:47 Okay, if it is Red and Blue, Jolteon may be the second best of the eeveelutions, as ground types aren't as big of a threat as they are in Yellow. Still a big threat, though, but they shouldn't wall the sparky cat/fox thing so much as they do in Yellow. Yellow Giovanni is a nightmare in his final fight for any electric type not called Zapdos. At the end of the video, yeah, about what I expected. Jolteon hits hard and fast, but rock/ground types slow him a lot, so it checks that it needs 4 hours (in game time) to finish the run. I was mentally screaming "USE THUNDERBOLT" in the first try against Dragonite, though, and I was about to actually comment before you mentioned it at the end of that fight. The biggest threat for an electric type in the league is Agatha doing some trolling, as Bruno is awful, Lorelei is almost free for an electric mon, and birdkeeper Lance is... a birdkeeper, so only two of his mons actually resist electric moves. The rival doesn't have a good team against Jolteon, either. All of his teams are quite weak against Jolteon, with at least four mon covered with Jolteon's moveset for super effective damage, with Charizard's as the weakest, as it was one more pokémon weak to Jolteon's moves, Charizard himself instead of Arcanine.

You talking from a solo run perspective.

Thanks for your comment. That was a great readthrough! You have me kinda wanting to attempt all of this in Yellow at some point to see whether things change much for these guys. I will say, the whole thing is definitely not scientific. Some things will come into it, like finishing level, how much I needed to reset, how long it took me to get through, etc. but a lot of it will also be quite personal. Which one *felt* the best and which one felt the most difficult. I'm not as knowledgeable as a lot of people when it comes to these games but I'm having a lot of fun figuring things out and learning through these challenges! I agree on your points around the Elite Four and Champion. It can often be difficult to figure out the best Pokemon for the Rival to take as it's more than just rock-paper-scissors for the starter but also the entire team. I hope you enjoyed this video! I'm hoping to have the Flareon one out soon. Christmas celebrations got in the way a little 😅

Red and Blue were great games. I recently played D.A.M. Champion because I missed that feeling of experiencing a game like pokemon for the first time.
