Thank you for reading before commenting: In the live chat, a distributor informed me that you you don’t have to give the company your SSN and become a distributor just to buy the product and someone else sent me a screenshot of the back office to confirm that! Also, while I know I probably made it seem like I think this in the video, I do not think kangen water is a scam. Enagic makes basically no claims about the water, it's the distributors/customers. Customers can say whatever they want about any product and that doesn't make something a scam. Like I could say grapes cure diabetes but that doesn't make grapes a scam. If grape companies were saying they did then that would be a different story. OCTOBER 2021 UPDATE: Enagic has finally put out an income disclosure statement. According to this document, the median income for all US distributors in 2020 was $440 (median= half made more, half made less). Only 1/3 of distributors made more than $1,000 in the whole year. This is certainly better than some MLMs, but still clearly not amazing stats. 6A is considered a high rank in Enagic, it's like you've "made it" in the company once you reach it and it's promoted as being a rank where you make a lot of money. The median income for 6A distributors was $5,710 though. Insane. You can make more working part time for minimum wage. 2020 US Enagic Income Disclosure Statement: www.enagic.com/media/pdfviewer/?f=eforms/us/flyer_enagicusa_earnings_disclosure_statement.pdf

On the other hand they say, “while lemon juice may make the pH of the urine more alkaline, it does not have the same effect on the pH of your blood.” And “any health benefits lemon juice may offer are unlikely to come from its purported alkalizing effect.” So are you cherry picking from these articles or just not reading them at all?

As a kangen water machine owner (not by choice since my parents decided not to consult me to buy this $5000 hunk of Garbo) I think the cost far outweighs any magical claims this machine is said to provide. There is so much water wastage when using this machine, basically if you want a gallon of drinking water, there is also a gallon of water you have to waste (I always say that these people probably have a share in PG&E). There is also this mini water filter that costs around $120 including shipping that you have to replace around 2-3 times per year. Along with that there is also a salt solution that is needed so the water can be enhanced. Basically I hate this machine I have punched it a few times now because of how stupid it is that my parent got tricked by my aunt into buying this thing. Also my grandfather who is diabetic has worked hard and tried to exercise and when his results improved, my aunt (the distributor) sees this, she attributed the improvements to the “holy water” and not the change in diet and lifestyle. This machine is lucky that I am in California, if not I would have bought a gun and put a few holes in it now.

These machines have electrodes that still need to be replaced. So they are not environmentally friendly. At least plastic water bottles can be recycled. @@Captain_Smooch These machine make the water alkaline by forming caustic, free radical and disease forming mineral (metal) hydroxides. They are a great way to destroy health. 39:49 Hey, just to make you all aware, this is not at all how professionals test water pH, at least not the ones who make all of our food. I'm a Horticultural student whose focus is crop production and we need to check the water feeding the crops daily in produce greenhouses. We use meters with probes to test both pH and EC as they provide a level of accuracy that other methods, which rely on colour matching by eye, simply does not. However, if you do not have one of these expensive meters you would typically have pH testing paper that you would place individual droplets of water on with a dropper to test to be as accurate as possible, never by placing a random number of drops of a solution into a glass with a sample of varying volume. Anna mentioned him adding different amounts of the dropper fluid, but I also noticed the glasses of water at the end had differing amounts of water in them also. Nothing about this test is scientific in the slightest, but it does look good under the carnival lights I am sure. Excellent video. I wish it had been out 15 years ago, but I am glad it's gotten out eventually.

Agreed, there are pH probes (i.e combination electrodes) that are used for quantitatively accurate pH readings. They work by creating a closed circuit between the electrolytic reference solution inside the probe (usually silver chloride) and the presence of positively charged hydrogen ions outside the probe (in solution). The reference solution (control) generates a constant electric current (in mV) and when introduced to a foreign solution, will then measure the electrical difference (in mV) between the external current (in solution) and internal current (control) before generating a pH reading for the end user. The difference here between the two methods is that a pH probe can give you a discernable quantitative number to work with, while relying on your subjective senses (eye sight) can only ever give you a qualitative understanding of what's going on, which is oftentimes not good enough data to prove a point.

@ejay3686 They're "recommending" using a normal filter as well, before using their machine, so it's not actually replacing anything. Only adding. Besides, you need to replace their own filter as well, plus regular service charges (warranty will be voided otherwise). So - huge up-front cost PLUS the upkeep cost ADDED to whatever you're already doing to purify your water, if anything, depending on where you live. My country has pretty high standards, and water quality is strictly regulated, so you don't need to do anything at all but even (or rather especially) people in places where filtration is needed would be losing money for a very miniscule super tiny possible maybe perhaps benefit that's yet to actually be proven with this system. Neither minerals nor hydration are in any way unique to this water. If there were any other benefits that were backed by legitimate proof, I'm sure the actual company would shout it from the rooftops.

I was planning to buy one but now after seeing this video I am having second thoughts.

Number 1 red flag and in my opinion the only one that counts. Why can't a company that makes the machines back up the claims distributors make? Hmm. Oh, that right, because it's illegal to make claims on what the machine can do without scientific research and evidence. Someone giving a testimony as to I did everything I could to get rid of xyz and I bought this and with ABC months it went away....that is supposed to convince me? Did you change detergent, soap, did the dr. prescribe new medication during that time. Was the only thing you did differently was drink water? Did you drink more water than normal, did you try drinking other water during this time? These are questions I would as my friends if they are making this claim.

Actually the water you are drinking is filled with harmful chemicals and honestly it’s aging you. But Kangen water is a miracle it gives your body the oxygen it needs your body cannot regulate its ph levels if your body is acidic... what you are claiming is no where near the truth. There is so so many benefits and honestly if this was a scam or a pyramid scheme then why is it still here? Why are people spending $5000 on water machines if they don’t work? It’s because they do work for gods sake the water that comes out of K8 can remove oil based pesticides off fruits and veggies and can emulsify oils in water. As in you can literally mix oil in water and it won’t separate.

Skip to the part about the studies and you'll see why this video is far from wack and you're making you look silly. There is not one legitimate scientific study that you can quote that is about the machine in itself and the one video that did do research using one of the machines showed it was not the best one to buy.

Unfortunately it was later discovered that Japan does have heart disease in spite of their so called low fat eating. Apparently dying of heart disease in Japan is so shameful that it is never put on the death certificate. I do not know how people who use this machine doesn't see the biggest red flag being waved in their face. Why doesn't the manufacturer of the products promote and back up the claims distributors make? Honestly, this would scare the crap out.of me by making the claim that this 'wonder water' cured my joint pain. But then go look on the company website and nothing. It would make me feel like a lier. However, the reason they don't is because it is illegal to make claims like this without scientific evidence and research. Yes, you as a distributor can say this help so-and-so with this-or-that. However, that is hearsay. And can be attributed by numerous factors including the placebo effect.

Dude the woman who said she drank a gallon of water a day and felt dehydrated was probably OVERHYDRATED I was once so dehydrated I passed out, so I know how that feels, but recently I was drinking a lot of water and felt like I did the time I fainted from dehydration. So obviously I was like wtf and I started researching and realized that drinking too much water can actually make you feel almost identically to dehydration, especially because it messes with your sodium levels. Like literally I ate popcorn and the salt made me feel normal again immediately. I didn’t need to spend thousands of dollars I just ate some cheap popcorn. Drinking enough water is important, but sadly a lot of people don’t realize you can go too far the other way. It’s easy to think “it’s just water how can it hurt to have more”, but in reality our bodies function on a specific balance. And of course this company is benefiting from that misinformation as well as other ignorance bc they care more about money than actually helping :(

Firstly, I have to just say WOW. What an incredible video. Secondly, thank you so much for putting in the extraordinary amount of work I'm sure it took you to make this video because it absolutely paid off. This is hands down the best deep dive on Enagic and Kangen water machines/the kangen mlm that I've seen on KZbin and there have been quite a few made by other creators after this one that I also watched. The reason I say so is because not only do you provide an abundance of (reputable source backed) information in a way that breaks down what might otherwise be too complicated for many to understand into strong points that get your message across in a clear and convincing manner, but your presentation of facts remains consistently engaging. Also I admire your choice to go into this with an open mind. You remained objective and respectful all the way through, which I'm sure that those in the kangen mlm who are starting to have questions or doubts really appreciate when watching this. You don't judge, shame, or belittle kangen distributors which makes it more likely that the video is having a positive effect on people and probably even helping people to move away from this predatory company. Lastly, I hope you know just how astounding and brilliant your mind is. Your ability to form sound and convincing arguments free of the many fallacies so many people resort to (unknowingly or not) is a testament to your superb communication skills and to your ability to paraphrase complicated ideas into a form that is easy to understand. In addition you are funny without being cruel, humble, relatable, and genuinely likeable- qualities that I (and I'm sure many others) look for and enjoy in a content creator. All of what I've mentioned makes you a breath of fresh air on a platform full of self absorbed wannabe influencer gurus who lie about their wealth and promise people the world if they just spend x amount of money on a starter kit. I can't wait to watch the rest of your videos and I hope you'll continue posting your amazing content. Wishing you all the best.

LOVE this video! Thank you for all the hard work you put into it. Incredibly researched and well done. I just wanted to throw out a podcast recommendation for people - The Dream. The first season is specifically about MLMs and is incredibly fascinating and there is even an episode that gets into how politics is roped into it, which is something I had no idea about but explains a lot about the world we live. The second season is about the wellness industry and how all of this ties in together. Highly recommended! :)

@Anna's Analysis I use to work for enagic and I too was a distributor and I own a leveluk sd501 ionizer. With that said, it's just a pyramid scheme and a MLM scam. It's smoke and mirrors, "snake oil" I use my machine now as just a water filter which I buy from another company mind you named A20 which sells water filters that are made in the USA, filter down to 0.5 microns, and are WAAAAAY better than the basic chlorine filtering enagic filters which are only filtering at a fraction of that. As far as health benefits...... None, it's the same as drinking tap water honestly, and to save yourself thousands just spend a few hundred dollars and get yourself a nice under the sink water purification system from home Depot 👍 I regret buying my machine for $4,000 and selling them to others. I'm basically stuck with a fancy counter paper weight and honestly I'm planning on selling it. These machines only cost about $300 to make in the Japan factory to FYI 👍

I do not sell the water, and I do not own a machine. However I actually tried the water, therefore it makes me more able to speak on the effects of the water. At first, I felt like I was sick for a day or two. Also my back started breaking out in pimples. But after this detox phase, I noticed a better night's sleep, and more energy. My wife knows I only drink 2-3 glasses of water per day, but with ionized water I drank 5-7 glasses because my body seemed to crave it. I also looked into some peer reviewed studies, and clearly there is scientific evidence. Perhaps some people make bogus claims, but the science is there

My understanding is that "kangen" water is authentic. It's basically all about water stagnation. In nature, good drinking water is distilled by rain, mineralized by running across the Earth's surface, filtered by porous rock, and carries an electromagnetic charge from the Earth's surface. The relationship between conductive mineral water, electricity, and magnets (gravity, lightning) is important to molecularity destagnate water. Kangen water does this by passing purified mineral water across electromagnified platinum plates. Because platinum plating is required, because it is an electrical device handling water regularly, the manufacturing costs of these machines is very high. Not only that but they require an ro system with a mineral cartridge system and require regular maintenance. The whole system is simply expensive. Because of this Enagic has opted for a personal sales distribution approach and it all seems kind of pyramid schemey. There's a lot of pseudoscientific marketing spread by independent retailers. However, behind the confusion, the devices work and are authentic.

So bizarre. The people that I have met through this seem to be genuine people, I also have a very close friend who is a distributer, so it's hard to distinguish between information that is clouded by the romantic notion of having this "financially free" and "abundant" lifestyle while promoting sustainability between research that is actually backed by science. Look at anti-vaxxers, flat earthers, people who believe in religion. The first question she asked me on the phone call was “do you mind me asking if you have any health conditions?” And proceeded to promise this water could cure my mental health and that I could come off all of my medications. Which is SO irresponsible. When I said I had not got the money, aggressively tried to persuade me to take a loan from family or friends, telling me she cared about my physical and financial health. Very manipulative and aggressive sales techniques. Said that the only reason there were no studies online were because big pharmacy disrupts google searches to stop people finding out about this water. You have a lot to learn about this water. The high pH waters made by these machines are not pure as these are not water purifiers. And the water is a great way to destroy health. The water is made alkaline by the production of caustic, FREE RADICAL FORMING, mineral (metal) hydroxides. In short, these are dilute versions of dangerous substances such as Drano (potassium hydroxide), lye (sodium hydroxide) and caustic lime (calcium hydroxide). All these products comes with warning labels not to ingest or allow contact with tissues since they are so damaging to tissues. These mineral (metal) hydroxides are unstable and dissociate forming the dangerous free radical known as the hydroxyl radical, which has been lined to cancer and other diseases. These hydroxides also neutralize stomach acid, which can lead to numerous health issues. These include cancer for a variety of reasons, heart disease, immune suppression, digestive issues, allergies, some forms of arthritis, hormone and neurotransmitter imbalances, etc.

Drinking more water than before, eating healthier foods, moving more. So many things also, the placebo effect. I guarantee that if you gave people a water filtration system from Amazon and told them all the great benefits it has and convinced them of it they would come back making the same claim you are. Excellent vid, thank you! The whole idea of altering your entire body's ph by drinking water is odd, and shows a lack of understanding of a lot of subjects. In general, if it sounds too good to be true, it is. I'm looking forward to the next vid!!!

A friend recently became a distributor (is offering free water from her unit for folks to try ) which reminded me that I wanted to get a good water filtration system for my new house, lol! (And ordered an under sink filter direct from the company 😃) I'm not a fan of MLM - and as you comment - most distributors don't do much independent research on the company claims. In the late 80s several student scientist couples were invited to a talk on how they could fund their work (you need to pay to be published in scientific journals, and getting grants takes a lot of time and effort!) ... it was a push to become Amway distributors - and we walked out pretty quickly!
