I am sorry but this time around I very much disagree with Brainwash and here is why, I am from Zimbabwe and was Introduced to Bollywood when I watched Kuch kuch Hota hai and then Devdas(which I know is not A dharma movie) and then KANK, after these movies I pretty much was enveloped in the Bollywood scene and pretty much started gaining an interest in the actors, directors and producers. From all of this I also realized a lot of people have so many things against Karan Johar, I don’t know if it’s the sexuality thing or the fact that the guy has balls to follow his intuition, dreams and desires which lets face it most of us leave this earth without daring to do, he has made many mistakes and flops and the fact that the guy keeps breaking new ground it makes him more courageous and witty. Now speaking as an outsider I’d say I very much enjoy his dating show and was quite touched by some of the stories in the show, for someone who I’ve realized gets so much scrutiny and hate from his own people, I can’t feel nothing but sorry for the guy and at the same admire his wit, most of the trolling to me feels like jealous ridden comments and scrutiny, when Karan leaves this earth he surely can say I came I saw and I conquered, I pretty much admire the guy and all his efforts and speaking as someone who’s not in any way Indian, Karan is truly a national treasure.

U see, we as a community are evolving past karan johar, there was a time when kuch kuch hota hai was a success story, but as martin scorcese says "the thing that is absent from film making right now is risk taking, everyone wants to be safe instead of being creative" and karan johar is the definition of playing it safe, maybe he will come out with a good movie and suprise us all, but its his antics (not his sexual preference) that ticks people off in the wrong way, like how did he get money from selling the rights of a movie like drive to netflix? That shouldn't be possible, plus his controversial show coffee with karan which gets more cringey and absurd with each season, then his movies and production house which is constantly promoting nepotism, giving big breaks to underqualified star kids rather than giving a chance to talented upcoming actors or new faces who can actually act and then when we as Indians were looking forward to netflix coming to india and bringing in some fresh and new kind of content, we see the same directors and actors of bollywood trying out their rejected scripts and movies on the netflix platform, there are many reasons people in india hate karan johar, sexuality is not one of them, plus he has never really came out of the closet, so to speak, when everyone knows he is a homosexual, that would gain him so much support and fan power, but instead he is scared of that too

But i can easily say that south makes the most creative movies in the whole of india, whether it be drama, suspense, comedy or action, they follow and showcase the indian culture, making it more real while bollywood is trying its hardest to follow the western culture and failing massively, some south movies i would suggest from last year are kumbalangi nights and jallikattu, both of them are beautiful shot movies that are high on commentaries

This is on Australian Netflix too, but I hav to say, I liked it. It is a dating show which focuses on self-improvement, which in Australia, is rare to come by. I am not familiar with any other of Karan Johar's works, so I can't judge how good or bad he is.
