As a indian i agree that kashmir is not integral part of india nor even Pakistan. Kashmir was occupied by both india and pakistan, india occupied kashmir by politics where as pakistan and china occupied kashmir by force. Kashmir would have been belong to kashmiri (independent) ppl, if pak was not attacked kashmir then raja hari singh would not have taken the help of india. Pakistan is responsible for pok, iok and even china occupied kashmir. Nor Pakistan will agree nor india will agree for independent kashmir coz both india and pak want kashmir land. so the only solution is divide the kashmir in three parts (india, pak, and independent). If pakistan supports for independent kashmir then they should officially declare it in UN coz they are responsible for everything which was happening in whole kashmir. Shame on pakistan who started the problems and issues of kashmir just coz raja hari singh was non-muslim. Shame on indian army and govt who is behind the killing of innocent kashmiri ppl.

Gandhi believed in the idea of self-determination not self-realization. Otherwise why would he reject Cripps mission. let me quote you an article written by Lorraine Boissoneault "By 1942, Prime Minister Churchill felt enough pressure to send Sir Stafford Cripps, a member of the War Cabinet, to discuss a change to India’s political status. But upon learning that Cripps wasn’t actually offering full independence and those current Indian politicians would still have no say in military strategy, the Congress and the Muslim League rejected his proposal-leaving Gandhi open to harness the wave of anti-British sentiment for a new round of protests.” The simple fact is in democracy government represent the will of the people, no one has any right to the land but only Kashmiris. So give them referendum, let’s do it in Azad Kashmir as well, let them decide whether they want to live with India, Pakistan or as an independent nation. What’s so complicated about it.
