go at night, even more so in February. it looks beautiful at night with the lanterns illuminating the way up. and -70% of the crowds are gone at night making it an enjoyable walk. alot of people only go for instagram photos vs the actual walk itself and history behind it, so after you get past the 50% mark it might just be you and maybe 7 other people, since most people quit halfway and turn back. PS. after the initial view with the railing, there is a side path near the top that takes you to an even nicer view thats higher up. Theres also a mountain pilgrims climb thats right across from fushimi inari by a temple in the woods where you can climb and see all of fushimi inari from the top. its pretty cool all the tori gates look so tiny and together make it look like one large solar panel reflecting the sun on the side of the mountain.

It must be incredible at night! Agree that the walk improves the higher and higher you climb. Sad I didn't know about that secret path though because I was disappointed there was no view at the top. Thanks for watching!

Heading to Japan on the 18th of Feb. Any other places you recommend in Kyoto or Osaka? So far we are looking at some temples and the bowing deers

Sooo many it's hard to list! Definitely go to the golden temple in Kyoto the the Fushimi Inari shrine they were our favourites. Osaka I would recommend Dotombori Street for amazing street food and atmosphere. Osaka Castle because its awesome. Tsutenkaku tower is really cool as well if you go at night up to the viewing platform, just making sure to pay extra to go all the way to the top or it isn't really worth it. The area around the tower is super cool as well and a great place to have dinner/spend the evening.

Both of u are just so entertaining to watch. U guys just making everything so fun. 🙏 Also I just got back from Philippines 🇵🇭 and Japan 🇯🇵 1. After watching ur vids, we decided to do Tao expedition too but 3 of 5 days our boats were broken. We didn’t get to do anything fun like u did. 😢 2. Kyoto was 10/10 for me. Compared to Tokyo, Nara, and Osaka. 3. My legs gave out after 500 meters at 1000s gates path.😅 4. Tried to go to the palace but the Japanese taxi guy said I couldn’t get in unless I had a reservation ticket. Did I get tricked 😂 5. I have a matching jacket/jumper to Tilly’s pants!! 🤩

Haha I think Tilly's legs gave out after about 100 metres but there was now way we weren't going to the top 🤣 Tilly says she wants the matching top as well haha

Overrated… no. Overcrowded? Yes. There are still some very nice spots that not many tourists make it out to though.

Agreed. The amount of people can be annoying but they are there for a reason and that reason is Kyoto is awesome.

Definitely!!!! And overcrowded too!! Much troubles with going to work and do daily chores!! Because trains and buses are terrible!!!

It is super surprising they don't have better public transport in Kyoto especially considering how good it is elsewhere in Japan. You would think the government will surely improve it soon.
