I think making a distinction between offensively skilled and defensively skilled goes a long way in attempting to clear up the nebulous nature of the word "skilled." But ultimately, it's impossible to truly define skill and determine who is the most skilled. I think the P4P comparison was the most accurate though; a hollow term primarily meant to elicit debate.

Understanding a players tendencies and forcing them to take shots they are worse at or being able to play the analytics (i.e. if the man you're on is clutch calling for a double and forcing it to an unclutch brick merchant is showing your defensive iq and therefore defensive skill).

I think you really have to make the distinction that Kyrie is the most skilled *bucket-getter* of all-time...if you think that, then he has the deepest bag, in addition to the combination of using that bag to get buckets in all sorts of ways on all sorts of defenses, and that's a reasonable argument to make. But saying "most skilled" generally is much more difficult, because a player like LeBron is more well-rounded and still good enough at getting buckets to possibly warrant getting that title.

MJ still has this title. Skill means wins. Skill means scoring. Skill means stopping the other team from scoring. MJ was the best at scoring and one of the best at stopping the other guy from scoring. Everything else is just noise. Literally nothing else matters. It doesn't matter how flashy it looks. It doesn't matter the degree of difficulty. It just doesn't matter. Kyrie cannot be the most skilled because he's not even the best player on his own team. It's like saying a chef is "more skilled" than another chef because he can flip his utensils around and juggle the food while he cooks it but the food from the second chef tastes better.
