Very informative video. Langkawi is a good choice for a border run from Thailand. It's an overall nice island.

Langkawi's beaches are great for unwinding, especially with drinks in hand.
@harmmeijer6582Ай бұрын
Langkawi doesn't have beaches, most are private with resorts dumping their untreated sewage in the water their guests are supposed to swim in or infested with noisy jet skis that stink to boot and will harass you in the water to show off how cool they are. I've heard someone found a small beach with no facilities that they found while driving their motorbike so if you want to enjoy that drink, food or anything you better take that with you.

@@harmmeijer6582 there are some great beaches they are on the north side of the island and not easy to get to.

Be ready to be dissapointed. Not sure what you are used to though, if it's your first time to SE Asia you may think it's nice because you don't know any better.
@paradise-adventuresАй бұрын
@@harmmeijer6582 I have spent 2 years travelling around SE Asia and I think it's a pretty good place. Da Nang is similar but better value for money there then Langkawi.

To add to the list of sunset lounges and bars mentioned, apart from Yellow Cafe and Hidden there’s also: Kalut Ah Chong beach bar Dash Beach club Coco’s Bistro (cheapest bar/restaurant drinks in Langkawi that I have found, but its about 10-12 min drive away from the main tourist beaches of Cenang and Tengah though) Nightclubs: One Love (best music) Sunba

I'm here now and happy to go, still have 2 days but probably book a flight out of here tomorrow. The island looks like a North American industrial park, only roads with cars that drive somewhere but nowhere to go where to have any fun. It is dangerous because the only way around is by car but if you don't have one you can get a motorbike at your own risk. Most beaches are private and the ones that are not have no facilities or are infested with noisy stinking jet skis. You can try a private resort with your own beach but the corruption that allowed the resort to privately "own" the beach also allows these resorts to cut construction costs and dump their untreated sewage in the water their guests are supposed to swim in. The mangrove forest is nice to see and made the first day of my stay worthwhile. There is a nice sea breeze but don't expect to enjoy it from your room because no rooms have mosquito nets so you are forced to close all the windows and blast aircon until you get sick, this is just a thing in Malaysia, used to be the case in Thailand until they realized most tourists want to enjoy their stay without getting sick by either dengue or a heavy cold from the aircon.

Tengah Beach is great for swimming, very clean water and not over crowded. Also, it's still very close to everything. Within walking distance to Pentai Chenang.

Just beware of the jelly fish. I was in Langkawi last Christmas and couldn’t swim as the water was infested with them.

That's unfortunate. We didn't see any while we were there. I've seen it happen to beaches in Australia at times. Usually, it only last a week or so, and then they're gone.
