We have an other language which is Pidgin. At the time pidgin was speaking by 92%Of Cameroon 1980 etc… but over time it lost its value but still spoken in Cameroon. Our pidgin is composed of many traditional words from different tribes of Cameroon. Pidgin is good as official language because it will not create tribalism or jealousy

I am a Cameroonian. I never let myself to be dominated by French. In fact I speak both languages perfectly proving to the system that I am more than that. As a primary English speaker from an English Home, people tried to dominate me because I am Anglophone, but I use their French to tear them into pieces. Once finishing with them, I relocated to the UK where I belong.

Southern cameroonians and Igbo are genetically the same people. So that makes sense. Plus the northern southern Cameroon already joined Nigeria. Those parts of Nigeria like Calabar, and those states close to cameroon used to be northern southern Cameroon. Then you have southern Cameroon. Which is at war today. That's why they said ATIKO the politician was Cameroonian. Because he was born in those states that used to be northern southern Cameroon before they voted to join Nigeria.

If we want 50/50 we should highlight more English (the government ) because nowadays English in an international language and a very important language in businesses. As we know most Cameroonians are francophone so we should equal it by putting the administration in English ( police station, Hotels, consulate etc… ) by giving an period of adaptation of maybe 5 years for francophone to learn English and don’t worry they will know how to speak English ( not maybe fluently but they could be able to have a conversation easily ) and about french, French will not disepear because at home francophone people will speak French. That is how I see

They were never a part of Nigerian they were administered for convenience by the British as part of the United Nations trust territory as part of the eastern region of Nigerian but legally was never a part of Nigerian that’s why they left the eastern regional house in Enugu and it was not secession but asserting their rights under the United Nations trusteeship. The British subsequently violated the United Nations texts by refusing to grant independence to the British southern cameroons and sold them out to France which has till date kept a stranglehold on both the English and French cameroons stealing its resources and backing the current dictatorship

Ok, to be clear, there is NO segregation in Cameroon. However, about 20% of the cameroon is the South-West English speaking, 80 % is French speaking. It is true that people who work in the administrations tend to speak only French because english is not really taught the way it should be in a bilingual country. However, all official documents are always published in both languages. The news is in both languages. Unfortunately, it is true that the English speakers have to adapt to the French speaking area, which is simply because 80 % of the country is french speaking. For comparison, in belgium, the official languages are French ( the biggest part), Dutch, and German( smallest part). However, almost nobody speaks the other language outside of that part of the country, also, almost nobody in the French speaking part speaks Dutch outside of their regioen and vice versa. Exept if you work for governmental institutions you are required to. And I believe it's the same in Canada. However, the population does not care, and does not see the english speakers as an issue, is has never been. Their identities are not being taken away or challenged. Anglophone schools ( English Apeaking schoola in Frenxh speaking Cameroon are highly regarded because of their educational quality. Unformtunatly, This is a political manmade problem that has been created a few years ago in order to divide a country that has been relatively stable ( exept for the unfortunate silent war in the extreme nothern part of the country, and the regions borthering Nigeria). We have over 300 tribes, all with their own languages, culture and identity, all repected by all. Of course, there is some tribalism, but no different to other parts in the world. By the look of this short clip, you would think that there is this huge internal conflict between French and English speakers, there is absolutely none. Having said that, english speakers should be recognised more, but more importantly, we should get rid of those two colonial languages as official languages and choose local ones, like they didn in Mali and Congo. Have a nice day you all, and stay united. Don't let these power-hungry politicians divide us by preying on our insecurities and frustrations.

Yes. Some or 1 or 2 blacks may do that in the continent the continent so called Africa. The biblical promised Land. . But it doesn't mean that it's all of them that do it or praise the English language. The situation in Cameroon is not about French and English. That's what the media portrays for you melenated diaspora family in the Western world. The people in southern Cameroon are not just fighting to have basic human rights they are fighting colonization too. They want France out of their land. Their resources and riches are being taken from them. They cannot enjoy the riches of their land. You black Americans have roots in Cameroon too. I know it doesn't really concern most of you. But it makes me happy when I see that alot of you black Americans are reconnecting with your roots in the continent so called Africa. The biblical promised land.
