Conclusion: lava *is* wet

As someone who kind of studies earth science, I absolutely HATE this arguement, lmao. Both sides said some pretty inaccurate statements as their arguments, which should make the argument itself wrong.
@CharleyMarlowe4 жыл бұрын
Well here's my question for you then: Could rocks be called "cold lava"?
@AVRose474 жыл бұрын
If they are above ground, I guess they technically could... a more accurate and better description would be solid. but I am by no means an expert on any of this, lol
@EvilGuacamoleGaming4 жыл бұрын
The important thing to me is that lava is not wet because a liquid by itself is not wet. It makes things wet. An erupting volcano gets itself wet with lava.
@AVRose474 жыл бұрын
Well now you're bringing it back to the original question of is water wet/ does a liquid make itself wet, lmao. I will agree with your second statement, though
@dandyspacedandy4 жыл бұрын
Who cares what its made out, the idea of something being 'wet' isn't exclusive to things drenched in water. If you're of the camp that water is wet then that means so is every other liquid. Of course Lava burns things, but what about materials that resist high temperatures? Would it not be wet with lava?
@loreleimarivaine62414 жыл бұрын
Well Edgeworth, would you call rubbing alcohol wet?
@EvilGuacamoleGaming4 жыл бұрын
I refuse to accept that water is wet so lava is not wet. But a volcano can become wet with lava, at least the sides.

No, I agree with the liquid thing. It's wet, it makes contact with itself, so as long as we speak not of a single atom of lava it's making contact with a liquid, making it wet. The only complication is that lava is less fluid than water, but that's only LESS. It still IS a liquid.
@EvilGuacamoleGaming4 жыл бұрын
Something can't be made wet by the same liquid. This implies adding water to a tub of water makes the water in the tub more wet.
@JoelTheParrot4 жыл бұрын
@@EvilGuacamoleGaming It doesn't make it MORE wet because it is already as wet as it can BE, except for the water that is no longer exposed to the surface of the water, which IS more dry, because now it isn't exposed to the dry air.
@EvilGuacamoleGaming4 жыл бұрын
@@JoelTheParrot are you suggesting surface water is dryer?
@JoelTheParrot4 жыл бұрын
@@EvilGuacamoleGaming Yeah. And the ocean water on the surface evaporates first. What's wrong with my thinking?
@EvilGuacamoleGaming4 жыл бұрын
@@JoelTheParrot I can't say it's wrong, per se, but to me I can not in any way I can perceives wetness observe the surface be less wet than the rest. You can discuss it on a molecular level but language rarely functions through such concepts. I mean, water is not plural. We discuss it based on what it's contained in and condition, not the molecules it is made up of. But it does seem that chemically we could say water is wet.
